L’Hiver En Deuil Streaming New Song

Today Terrorizer Magazine offers up a premiere from Belgian black metallers L’Hiver en Deuil.

Titled “As,” the song comes from the band’s first EP “Ter Aarde,” which is set for release via Consouling Agency on November 9th. Check out the track below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"L'Hiver en Deuil was shaped during the winter of 2009/2010, one of the most unrelenting and severe in years. The atmosphere of winter and the dark beauty of the surroundings of the band’s rehearsal place helped them to give voice to their suppressed feelings through the symbolism of nature, with songs drowning in an aura of introspective black metal, combined with repeated riffs and hypnotic melodies to conjure a melancholic, trance-like state. L'Hiver en Deuil is where and when its members confront themselves with their fears, their deepest frustrations, things that cannot be easily grasped, the perpetual search for what goes beyond existence. The thin line between life and death. Their journey started there.

"In mid 2012, the line-up was complete, now gathering former members from Sarin, Marche Funèbre and The Gates of Argonath. With a stable line-up, L’Hiver en Deuil felt the need to record some new songs and they reached out to Phorgath from Enthroned and Emptiness fame, knowing that his extensive experience in producing dark and unholy music would be the perfect match to their mournful and bleak compositions. So in February/March’13 the band entered the studio to record their first EP 'Ter Aarde.'

"'Ter Aarde.' is foremost a very introspective work, incorporating an array of influences, from traditional black metal to post-hardcore, with the core of this release lying in mid-tempo, trance-inducing melancholic riffs. Although the music definitely stands on its own with a strong identity, parallels can be drawn to such bands as Drudkh, Svarti Loghin,Fen, Agalloch and Forgotten Tomb." More...

Blutmond Recruits New Members, Working On Album

Long-time fans of Blutmond may have been surprised by the lineup that took to the stage recently at the HarVest Festival in Switzerland.

The band featured two new members – Simon on guitar and Fabio on drums and samples - who joined vocalist and guitarist John, vocalist and bassist Jerry, and saxophonist and guitarist Marc. It was, according to John, something of a final audition for the two musicians, albeit one that was pretty much a foregone conclusion. The following press release was issued about the band's lineup changes:

"Since its formation in 2004, Blutmond has never been a band that has been happy to limit itself to a formulaic nod in the direction of a particular genre. Starting out as a Black Metal band and releasing their first full length album “Endzeit” in 2006, Blutmond quickly developed a reputation for their insane and provocative live shows, which, whilst raising their profile throughout Europe, also led them to realize that the time had come to create something that was more emotional and honest.

"As is often the case when bands choose a different direction, not every member was on board with the idea, which resulted in a few lineup changes, and the recruitment of a new guitarist and saxophonist. With Code666/Aural Music picking up their sophomore full-length album, 'Thirteen Urban Ways 4 Groovy Bohemian Days' appeared in 2010, followed at the end of 2012 by 'The Revolution is Dead!,' once again on Code666. These two albums demonstrated that Blutmond was obviously forging ahead down a more avant-garde path, but one that definitely had a distinctive edge to it. Now that 2013 is drawing to a close, John has begun writing new material for the band’s fourth full-length album."

John comments: “I’ve built myself a small studio in my apartment which makes it much easier for me to work on the music as I can have access whenever I want. It’s early days yet, and we’re not ready to reveal too much about the direction we’re taking, but I don’t think anyone is going to be disappointed."

Blutmond was also previously covered in our look at bands that blend different genres. Check it out right here.
