Twelve years after "From Wisdom to Hate," Canada's legendary Gorguts is back to desecrate the metal scene with "Colored Sands."
The blend of technical death and avant-garde black metal that forms "Colored Sands" is out now, and in support of the release front man Luc Lemay got in touch with us to dissect the album and discuss how more than a decade of inactivity affected the band.
Read on for a complete track-by-track breakdown and in-depth look at the Tibetan lyrical themes of "Colored Sands," along with what band Luc thinks is currently killing it on the live circuit. More...
Czech black metallers Inferno will release a new album entitled "Omniabsence Filled By His Greatness" this coming September 24th worldwide. A video trailer for the release is available now below.
The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Necromorbus Studio by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Ondskapt, Valkyrja). Fenomeno Design (Blut Aus Nord, Glorior Belli, Perdition) prepared the layout.
"Omniabsence Filled By His Greatness" is the second release recorded with the new line-up of Adramelech (vocals), Ska-gul (guitars) and Sarapis (drummer). The album also features guest bass lines played by Beldaroh (Besatt).
Agonia Records comments: "The band's 6th album is a leap forward in comparison with the previous release, 'Black Devotion.' While straightforward black metal and melodic riffs are still present, 'Omniabsence Filled By His Greatness' gained in terms of quality and atmosphere. Dissonant passages go now hand in hand with a delicate use of psychedelia, the compositions became more demanding."

After the band's first foray into video land with "Scream" two years ago, Spider Rockets has now released a video for "Going Down."
The song lyrics play off the sexual and hostile interpretations suggested by the track's title, often walking a very fine line between the two. Singer Helena Cos comments: "I wanted the listeners to make up their own minds which way I'm leaning when I'm singing, 'When you come here you're going down."
The video weaves around vintage black and white footage to add a bit of levity into what is otherwise far from a funny song. This idea was inspired by videos from other legendary rock bands like Ratt's "You're in Love," Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills," and Metallica's "One."
"We were also on a budget and knew we'd have to fill some frames," admits guitarist John Nap, "and it's amazing how much they were asking us to pay for some other common rights 'free' footage that never made the video, like clips of Betty Boop and Popeye!" More...

Portland's Toxic Holocaust today offer up another sampling from impending "Chemistry Of Consciousness" full-length with "Out Of The Fire," now streaming below courtesy of MetalSucks.
The album was recorded by the band, mixed with Kurt Ballou (Converge) at GodCity Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.
Elaborates Toxic Holocaust mastermind Joel Grind, "With each record, I like to continue down the same path I've started at but do so without rehashing the same ideas over and over. With Chemistry Of Consciousness, I brought in a heavy dose of punk back into our sound. This record brings influence from bands ranging from Anti-Cimex, Warfare, Infernal Majesty, GBH, Discharge, Autopsy and Chaos UK, just to name a small few. Those bands are just a starting point to give you an idea of what's to come.
"First and foremost, it sounds like Toxic Holocaust, and that is always what's most important to me. Lyrically, I went off with topics I've never explored before. Lots of social and political commentary without trying to be preachy or blatant about it. There's no lyrics like 'the government sucks' or whatever but I was just really pissed off about what I see around me and that's what really fueled a lot of it. There is also a heavy dose of conspiracy and true life war crime topics. Lots of really sinister and evil stuff. Even the songs that seem like they're about one thing on the surface, after delving into them, are actually about something more. I'm anxious to get this record out there and to start touring again!" Wyoming's Righteous Vendetta has teamed up with Noisecreep.com to premiere a music video for the band's new single "This Pain," taken from the upcoming release "The Fire Inside," due out October 8th, 2013. Watch the clip below.
Singer Ryan Hayes told Noisecreep, "'This Pain' was a song that came to us as we witnessed people in our personal lives become victim to suicide. The song exists to speak to both young and old that no matter what pain you may be going through in life it can be overcome. Love is the key and it is all around us. The video was a visual representation of what we wanted 'This Pain' to be."
The album's track listing is as follows:
2. This Pain
3. What You've Done
4. With Love
5. The Fire Inside
6. So Long
7. Inside My Eyes

Danish doom-infused metal outfit Rising today confirms the release of a pending second LP this Fall, on the band's own newly-founded independent label, Indisciplinarian. The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"After two crushing EPs, Rising released debut album 'To Solemn Ash' via Exile On Mainstream in 2011, after which the band toured extensively, playing more than fifty shows throughout Europe. In the meantime, the band forged new and fiercer material, fuelled by growing differences within the band. The result is Rising's second album, 'Abominor,' now confirmed for an early November release. The album was to be the final material from this particular constellation of the band, marking the end of an era, and a new beginning...
"Containing nine tracks running nearly forty minutes in duration, Abominor displays a faster, more aggressive and gritty side to the Rising sound. With the songwriting process the band envisioned a somewhat harsher and loose album as a development from the more epic and melodic songs of To Solemn Ash, incorporating more punk influences while remaining true to the trademark Rising sound. Abominor was produced by Jakob Reichert Nielsen, who also produced the band's To Solemn Ash LP and their debut EP, and the artwork created by singer/bassist Henrik Hald.
"However, Abominor is to be the last album from this incarnation of Rising. The year leading up to the recording of the album had shown severe disagreements creatively and personally within the band, and upon completion of the album, drummer Johansen and singer/bassist Hald left the band. Abominor thereby signifies the end of an era for Rising and as a result of the demise, there will be no tours or live performances directly in support of the album. More...

Sorrowseed comments:

Finland's Beastmilk today premieres the new track "Love in a Cold World" online. Check it out at Ptichfork.com here.
The track hails from the band's forthcoming debut album, "Climax," set for international release on November 29th through Svart Records. According to a press release, the album "poignantly combines haunting clean vocals, darkly shimmering melodies, and a throbbing rhythmic pulse to create an atmospheric yet energetic journey into post-punk's past, present, and definitely its future."
The album will be available on CD, LP, and digital formats via Svart. The label also comments:
"Elements of a gloomier Joy Division, an angrier Echo & The Bunnymen, a medicated Killing Joke, and even a lush layering of Peter Murphy - all this, and vastly more, describes the immediately memorable 3D darkness of Beastmilk. Born in 2010 during a nuclear winter in Helsinki, Finland, the void-mothers of Beastmilk kick out an irradiated dust of what they appropriately dub 'apocalyptic post-punk.' More...

Swedish death metal masters Diabolical have released an official video for the track “Metamorphosis,” which is taken from the “Neogenesis” album.
“Neogenesis” is a concept album uniting an eleven chapter post-apocalyptic novel and will be made available as a exclusive limited first edition Mediabook.
Vocalist and guitarist Sverker comments: "We wanted this video to have a close symbolic connection to the philosophy and concept of 'Neogenesis'. The theme of this particular chapter of the novel is reflected in the transformation you see in the video. Superficially something monstrous is transformed into something beautiful which represents a metamorphosis of something much more profound. Those who hear the album and read the book will understand."
