Broken Hope guitarist Jeremy Wagner has issued an update via the band's Facebook page regarding the violent events unfolding at a show with Deicide in El Paso.
Nearly an hour after putting up the post, it was removed from the official Broken Hope page without explanation. Here is the original post:
El Paso…first a maniac wielding a box-cutter cuts 3 fans at our concert—one ear-to-ear (thankfully all the victims are going to recover), then we learned that Glen Benton is kicking us off the No Salvation Tour. It was a helluva night. Since we started this tour, we’ve had to endure Glen Benton’s constant bitching and ultimatums. He was always trying to snip our balls and demanded that we couldn’t use our fog machines and on some nights, we couldn’t use our backdrops or other production elements because he had issues with all of it. With respect to the headliner, we abided. Moreover, in efforts of friendship, good tour vibes, and because we’re simply cool fucking guys, we let Glen Benton and his band use OUR BACKLINE because they didn’t want to bring all their gear on tour!
Specifically, we let the headliner use our cabinets and Glen Benton used our entire bass rig—head and cabinet—since his own bass head failed him early on. While we were generous with our backline, not once did Benton thank us, offer us a dime, or even lift a finger to help move anything—and he fucked up our bass head numerous times with his resetting the EQ, etc., despite us politlely asking him NOT to mess with the bass tone we dialed in. Gee, with all the money and free gear Benton brags about to us daily, you’d think he’d do something about getting his own rig.
Things got ugly in El Paso when, after we learned Benton had lost our bass rig cables and once again fucked with our bass head, so, we put our foot down and told him he couldn’t use the head anymore. Note: we still allowed Benton to use our cabinets for their show.
That said, Benton threw an EPIC hissy-fit and immediately kicked us off the tour! He booted BROKEN HOPE from the tour simply because we refused to let him use our bass head! What bullshit. Now, even though that lame reason is what Benton used to get rid of us, I believe there’s more to the story here. During this entire tour Benton has given BH and our crew nothing but a shitty attitude and has tried to sabotage our production every day for no good reason. Though Benton blocked us from using our fog machines, he couldn’t stop us from using our professional soundman, nor stop us from giving concertgoers an amazing and high-powered show. The fact remains—as all our show attendees have seen—we fucking handed Glen Benton his ass every night of the tour and he couldn’t keep up. Benton and his caravan of mini-van drivers couldn’t touch our live show—even on our worst night.
Benton sent Shaun Glass a text last night, threatening to break his jaw if Shaun badmouthed Benton. Well, I’m calling Benton out right now because his bullshit is old, fake, and he ain’t scaring anyone. Glen Benton is a lazy, jealous, jaded, ungrateful, unprofessional, egomaniacal bully. He menaces everyone from bands and fans, to promoters and booking agents. How he maintains a career is beyond me. And this time, he fucked with the wrong band. Karma is a bitch, Benton.
On behalf of BROKEN HOPE, I’m sorry to the fans who won’t see our performances in Dallas and Austin. You all know it’s not our fault…we’d give you all a free show if we could. Thank you all for the support, for coming to our shows, for all the love you’ve given our OMEN of DISEASE album, and for understanding the bullshit and temper tantrums we’ve had to put up with on this tour.More...
Today Brookyn-based ethereal noise metal trio Tidal Arms hurls forth the first taste of forthcoming self-titled sophomore offering in the form of opening track, "Gooski's Ladder." Give it a listen below, courtesy of MetalSucks.net.
The album was self-produced and mixed by guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney and Alex Mead-Fox at the band's own Spaceman Sound in Greenpoint, and mastered by renowned sound serpent Alan Douches (Converge, Torche, The Dillinger Escape Plan etc.) at West West Side Music.
Comments guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney: "'Gooski's Ladder' is the newest song on the record -- the drum take that's on the record was the very performance in which we got the song down. I think that's why it feels so fresh and exciting, because we had that eureka moment with the mics on! 'Gooski's Ladder' is an Atheist anthem of sorts -- it's about finding peace in the existence of the universe as it is, and taking comfort in the eons of natural development and evolution that has led to the beautiful world and cosmos around us."

Two months after the release of Progstravaganza 13, Prog Sphere is back with another part in the on-going compilation series. The 14th entry includes A Cosmic Trail, which was featured in our look at underground prog metal bands. You can stream the full release below or pick up your copy on a name-your-price basis at Bandcamp.
The Progstravaganza compilation series has as its sole purpose to discover new bands. Since its inception in 2010, Prog Sphere has made it its goal to make each compilation special. Every part in the series comes with specially designed artwork, and they are all available via Bandcamp in different audio formats.
Prog Sphere's editor-in-chief Nick says: "The new sampler has a title 'Timeshift,' what kind of symbolize that after three years of putting out the samplers, we are still there, doing the thing. Giving a unique name to our samplers adds another dimension to the whole experience, it's kinda weird that we didn't do it before."
Along with Progstravaganza 14 going on, Prog Sphere is allowing submissions for the upcoming, fifteenth edition (due in December). Bands and musicians interested in being a part of the upcoming compilation can get in touch with Prog Sphere by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. More...

Nuclear Blast Entertainment is proud to announce the signing of Devil You Know. The label comments:
"Devil You Know is the intersection of three undeniable talents from the world of heavy music. Howard Jones: the former Killswitch Engage and Blood Has Been Shed frontman, who garnered two gold records and a Grammy nomination during his decade-long tenure with the Massachusetts band. Francesco Artusato: celebrated solo artist and guitarist with The Francesco Artusato Project and All Shall Perish. And John Sankey: drummer for the Australian band Devolved, who has also worked with Fear Factory and Divine Heresy.
"The sum total of the three has come together as Devil You Know, yielding a sound as singular as it is unforgettable. Devil You Know was born out of Artusato and Sankey’s creative quest to stretch beyond their extreme metal backgrounds."
The two had written over a dozen songs before even attempting to lock down a singer. “We were unsure if Howard would be interested,” says Sankey. Yet, when Killswitch Engage’s former frontman received the material, a creative ideal began to solidify. Finally connecting in Los Angeles during the last months of 2012, a highly distinctive sound began to become apparent.
“It turned from bare-bones musical ideas into something that surpassed any of our expectations” says Jones. “It went from something we thought was going to be a fun, heavy project into something very real.”
It was during a recording session at the start of 2013 with producer and former Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader that Devil You Know’s ideas began to alchemize into something none of the bands members would ever expect. “It became a departure from what I’m known for,” says Artusato. “I wasn’t focusing on technical guitar parts (even though I still love that aspect of writing) but simply on writing what felt best for each individual song.” More...
On the heels of three long months of touring (North America, Asia, Russia) in support of latest album "Pelagial" (reviewed here), The Ocean has launched the entire "China" chapter of the "Collective Oblivion" triple DVD. Check it out below, courtesy of Noisey.vice.com.
The Ocean main man Robin Staps comments: "I can't believe that this is finally… finished. We all kind of lost hope along the way, as the project totally grew out of proportion over the last 2 years. Originally we only wanted to film one single show, and by June 2012 we were sitting on top of a pile of 28 terabytes of data filmed across the globe during 2 full years. Countless live shows, interviews, crazy parties on Russian trains and funny moments in Chinese pharmacies. But then the worst part began: editing, choosing, compiling, structuring, which took another year. Now it's done, for real! And I can safely say that you will be hard-pressed to find any other band DVD that is equally extensive, hilarious, profound and compelling, as this one. Everything you ever wanted to know about this band, from the early days until now… the answer is here! And a lot of things you didn't wanna know as well…"
"Collective Oblivion" comes in a hardcover book-style packaging with brass-foil print. The book contains 3 DVDs and a 30 page booklet. The Ocean wnill also be touring Europe throughout October and November, with dates available below. More...
San Francisco/Orange County progressive deathcore unit Ænimus will be hitting the road in January for the "Winter Wasteland" tour.
Phoenix, Arizona's modern metallers Apparitions will join the band on the 15 date south west trek, which runs from January 3rd - January 18th, kicking off at Aladdin Jr's in Pomona, CA and coming to a close at the Arlene Francis Center in Santa Rosa, California. The Winter Wasteland tour is sponsored by WeNeedMerch.com and The Circle Pit.
Ænimus guitarist Miles Baker stated: "We seriously can't wait to hit the road with our friends in Apparitions and come play for all of you guys. This will be the first Ænimus tour with me as a full time guitarist, and we have done our best to mix up the set list in order to include the most requested songs off of Transcend Reality that our fans want to see us play live. Many thanks to Ben Orum and WeNeedMerch and Mike Stahl and The Circle Pit for supporting the tour, and we hope you are all ready for a killer set!!"
Apparitions vocalist Griffin Kolinski added the following: "We are all very excited to head out on the road this coming January with our buds in Aenimus on the Winter Wasteland Tour. We'll be playing some new material as well older songs we havent played live before, so we are all super excited to get out there and shred something fierce. See you all out there this winter!" U.K. hardcore band TRC has premiered a new video for the song “10,000 Days,” taken from the band’s recently released album, "Nation," which is available now from No Sleep Records. Check it out below.
Chris Robson (vocals) comments on the video: "It was great to work with Daniel Broadley again, after the fantastic job he did on 'We Bring War.' The tune is about the rule of success being 10,000 hours of applied effort, and was inspired by Malcolm Gladwell's book, 'Outliers.'
"No matter what the distraction, we've kept pushing on with TRC. 10,000 hours equates to approx. 10 years, which is quite funny because TRC released our first demo 10 years ago. What's even funnier, was the fact we recorded the band performance scene in the studio where we recorded that very first demo. Everything came full circle. It's my favourite track off 'Nation'."
"Nation" is TRC’s second full-length album and was recorded in London with with Steve Sears (Gallows, Lethal Bizzle, Hang The B*stard). More...

Cradle To Grave has released a brand new digital EP entitled "Ice" available now through Year of the Sun Records.

All the tracks have been remastered exclusively for this release by Matt Connell (Drudgery, Fuck The Facts, Exhumed). Stream the release below, or pick up your copy at Bandcamp here.
Guitarist Sasquatch had this to say about the new release: "We're excited to be putting out some brand new CTG as well as releasing some previously unreleased songs from the vault. The fans have definitely been patient waiting for it. There has been some changes in recent months within the band and we're looking forward to unleashing the newly revamped Cradle to Grave on everyone with our good friends at Year of the Sun. Metal it up people!"
"It's great to hear these tunes remastered and officially released," states Year of the Sun's C.F. Benner. "Like a lot of prolific bands, sometimes really good tunes unfortunately don't fit a particular record and they never see the light of day. When we got talking with Cradle about doing this project, we all felt that releasing tunes like 'Within Forever' and 'End Of My Life' would be really cool for fans who have followed the band over the years. If you're new to Cradle To Grave and you dig heavy metal with an old school vibe, I think you'll dig this release as well." More...

Grind kings Pig Destroyer have added a new member to the fold: Adam Jarvis' cousin John Jarvis has joined Pig Destroyer as the band's first bass player. John will make his live debut at the bands appearance at the Housecore Film Festival curated by Phillip Anselmo in Austin, TX on October 27th at Antone's. He comments:
"It's an honor to be a part of Pig Destroyer. I'm looking forward to making new music with the guys, as well as adding some 'low end' to the older material live. After being able to see every incarnation of the band live in the past, I can honestly say that the guys are at the top of their game. See you at Big Phil's Housecore Horror Fest!!!"
Founding member and guitarist Scott Hull added: "Having John come into the band adds the ability to expand musically into new territories that we haven't explored yet. For many years we haven't had a bass player or second guitarist because, as JR once put it; 'mo people, mo problems.' But a band is a living organism. Change is good. New blood. New energy. We've had great experiences adding Blake before Phantom Limb and Adam before Book Burner.
"Both additions to the family have had huge positive impacts on the band. We'd thought about adding a bassist for some time, but it always seemed like it would be more of a hassle than anything else. John has come in like a soldier and has mastered everything we've thrown his way. We're excited for you guys to hear how the older material sounds with an expanded low end and can't wait to get to work on new material."
Pig Destroyer released fifth studio album "Book Burner" this past October on Relapse Records.

Bastard Feast released "Fear in a Handful of Dust" as Elitist in June 2011 on Season of Mist. Earlier this year, Season of Mist announced the signing of American experimental black metal band Murmur.
The Chicago based quartet’s second album will be a self-titled release and has been scheduled for January 17th (January 21st in North America), 2014. Season of Mist also comments:
"Murmur started off in 2007 and immediately received underground recognition. With the release of their fierce and utterly disturbing debut album in 2010, more accolades followed before the band embarked on an even stranger but no less frightening musical journey on a split EP with Nachtmystium the next year, which earned them international acclaim."
About joining Season of Mist Underground Activists, the band had this to say: “We are extremely excited to be working with Season of Mist, and to have the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Murmur started as a depressive black metal project with the debut ‘Mainlining the Lugubrious’, but after a pretty significant line-up change as well as a strong desire to satisfy my eclectic musical tastes, Murmur has mutated into a fusion of black metal with progressive rock, zeuhl, and 1970's style jazz fusion.
"We continue to grow and mutate our sound with every new piece. For a long time I thought we were trying to find our niche with all the experimentation, but it seems to me that our niche is not having one at all.”
Affiance has just released a brand new music video for "We The Machines," which comes off the band's newest album "The Campaign."
The video was directed by Stephen Mlinarcik and can be viewed below. Singer Dennis Tvrdik comments:

Then it hit me that we should just put it out there for the fans as a thank you for all the support with the our Indiegogo campaign. We are honored to have such devoted fans that they would help us get a new touring vehicle, the least we can do is put some new media out."
Affiance will tour the U.S. with Protest The Hero, Architects, and The Skindred from November 7th to December 15th. All dates are available after the jump. More...
The Norwegian multi-faced entity Manes has gathered a collection of 11 unreleased, obscure, and alternate version tracks dating back to the time around "Vilosophe" (2003) and "How The World Came To An End" (2007).
This anthology will be titled "Teeth, Toes And Other Trinkets" and will be unleashed by the end of the year via Debemur Morti. The band comments:
"Before we truly come back to life with Manes, we figured we'd dig up some dead stuff for everyone to enjoy. This is a collection of odds and ends that on the surface might seem to appeal mostly to the most die-hard completist, but listening to it ourselves we find it works surprisingly well on its own. It is at times very lo-fi and not at all polished, but swamped in atmosphere and nostalgia, at least for us."
Manes was formed in 1992 and features members from Third And The Mortal, Atrox, Chton, Lethe, and Drontheim.
South Florida heavy metal outfit Forty Winters has teamed up with Lambgoat.com to premiere brand new track "Return to the Earth" from the band's upcoming "Isolation" digital EP, due out this fall. Stream "Return to the Earth" in the player below.
"This EP release was designed to get new material to our following as quick and easy as possible," vocalist Xavier Vicuna told Lambgoat. "We have been fortunate enough to be on the road giving Reflection the proper tour cycle it deserved, but it was time for new music and it was time to give back. Kids asking at shows and online when they could expect new jams really pushed us to get in the studio and track a few of the songs we were already working on and happy with."
"Isolation" was recorded in late August with Charles J. Wall and Phil Pluskota at Sonic Assault Studios in Cape Coral, Florida (Betraying The Martyrs, Abiotic, King Conquer).
"We really tried to warp our roots and influences into a newer, more aggressive approach," added Vicuna. "We've grooved, we've jammed and we've dropped it, but the goal has always been to evolve. The new stuff is pretty evil and a lot more genuine; we really focused on being ourselves and doing what felt natural. It's gonna be pretty raw - a lot of slamming and thrashing." More...
