Transient Kicking Off Tour

With the release of their self-titled debut LP still fresh via Six Weeks Records, the Portland punks in Transient will embark on their massive American tour in support of the platter this weekend.

"We're all really excited to tour on the new LP and make it to all of the places we couldn't last time after the wreck," states vocalist Krysta Martinez of the voyage." I know it's not much of a quote but that's simply how we all feel."

The "wreck" referred to took place amidst Transient's 2011 tour when another car slammed into the band's van, seriously injuring several members. It was shortly after their recovery that the quartet took to writing and recording a debut album, which the band is now venomously ready to take to the masses on this new, extensive trek of the country.

The skirmish begins this Sunday, October 6th in Seattle and includes thirty-four shows across the USofA, including a set at the second annual three-day Southwest Terror Fest. More...

30,000 Monkies Streaming EP Online

CVLT Nation is currently hosting a stream of Belgian act 30,000 Monkies' new EP “Somewhere Over The Painbow,” which is set for release on October 11th, 2013 through ConSouling Agency.

Check out the full EP stream below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"30,000 Monkies is a stoner noise quartet from Beringen, Belgium, whose sonority is often described as experimental not because the band tries to merge a wide variety of sounds and textures in order to create something awkward, but due to their non-linear approach to song structures and sounds that brings to mind a noisier version of Melvins jamming with Flaming Lips.

"Their first EP Womb Eater Wife Beater released in 2011, showcased the band blending the sludgy heaviness of bands like Melvins and Harvey Milk with elements of psychedelia and noise-rock. For their newest EP, Somewhere Over The Painbow, they have opted to offer a more straightforward version of their aesthetic, but still retain a bit of their experimental edge by launching into some weirdo riffing and sounds throughout these four new tracks." Queensrÿche Films Mini Movie

Queensrÿche recently filmed a "mini movie" with the tracks, "Spore," "Midnight Lullaby," "A World Without" and "X2" providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed "Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem." The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed last month on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles. The release date of the mini movie was not yet revealed.

Vocalist Todd La Torre, issued the following statement: "We decided to take a different approach with this video, which is comprised of four pieces of music from our latest self-titled release, Queensrÿche. It's a conceptual mini-movie music video that invites the audience to scratch beneath the surface a bit, rather than the usual "chewed food" that so many are used to being fed. We really wanted to deviate from a performance type of video so the music and story-line could be the main focus."

La Torre also adds, "The overall theme of the song Spore is one that deals with personal demons, relationship struggles, career pressures, personal/professional morals and ethical dilemmas. These are issues we all face on some level and the video touches upon them all. Midnight Lullaby/A World Without deals with the loss of a mother during childbirth, leaving a father as a single parent and struggling to move forward through the turmoil. X2, though it opens up our album, provides for a nice outro to it all. The end result is a roller coaster of emotion in an effort to find a healthy resolve. Given our history, we feel that this multifaceted conceptual video, along with a great cast of actors to suit, will really resonate with our fans." More...

Persekutor Releasing New Single

The "Power Frost" single is Persekutor's first new material in seven years. The title of B-side track, "The Twitching Hour," was stolen from Repulsion main man Scott Carlson, who had planned to use it for something but was too slow on the draw, eventually used with his permission, which was given after the fact.

The day the test presses for Persekutor's "Power Frost" single arrived at Magic Bullet HQ, a goat was born on the farm just yards away. If you don't think this is a sign from the Black Metal Gods and/or Satan himself, you are fucking kidding yourself.

Decibel Magazine has posted an exclusive interrogation with the Persekutor legion and a stream of the "Power Frost" track here (also check out the song below). The following press release was also issued about the new single:

"Persekutor, from Târgu Mures, Transylvania, doesn't merely play Romanian black metal, they ARE Romanian black metal.

"Persekutor's debut, Angels Of Meth, was recently hailed as 'the best album nobody heard in 2006' by Decibel magazine. Upon release, the album received a perfect 10 out of 10 score in the same publication-the first black metal album (possibly the first album of any subgenre) to ever rate that highly in Decibel. Due to a 'legal dispute' with Thousand Year Reich, the label that released Angels Of Meth, the album is nearly impossible to find.

"The label was allegedly run as a money-laundering front for the Russian mafia's Bucharest contingency, but Persekutor would rather not discuss this for obvious reasons. The official pressing was limited to 100 and almost every copy is believed to be either lost or destroyed. The only extant copy is rumored to be in the possession of Darkthrone drummer/vocalist and renowned metal enthusiast Fenriz. Guitarist/vocalist Vlad The Inhaler and lead bassist Ion 'Iron Slasher' Slasescu are goat herders by day and black metal masters of the universe by night. They have been through several drummers over the years, including one who claimed to be a descendant of famed Romanian pan flute virtuoso Zamfir. Their current drummer is the enigmatic Doktor Impossible." More...

Kauan Inks Deal With Blood Music

Kauan has inked a record deal with Blood Music to release the "Pirut" album. The following press release was issued about the signing:

"Blending shimmering post-rock -- reminiscent of Godspeed! You Black Emperor -- with the funeral dirges of Evoken, Russia's Kauan has received a huge amount of praise in the European underground 'for a long time', which also happens to be the translation of their Finnish name.

"Now the band has inked a pact with Finland's Blood Music, which sees the band beginning their first journey into the worldwide metal scene as they plot to release 'Pirut', their 5th overall full-length, on December 15th.

"Often compared to Agalloch and Alcest, Kauan has spent several years creating a take on the genre all their own. Often atmospheric, 'Pirut' finds the band based in viola, choirs, slow piano melodies but with a doom metal base. An almost classical approach to metal that is sure to bring the band an instant following -- be on the lookout for music from 'Pirut' debuting in the coming weeks.

"Blood Music, to this point, has been known as one of the top vinyl labels for the metal underground in Finland, releasing incredibly detailed LP sets from Strapping Young Lad, Ihsahn, Sigh, Moonsorrow and more. The label has recently partnered with Code666 for distribution and now has it's sights set on also releasing new music from some of the best underground bands in the metal world."
