After an almost 7-year break, melodic metal masters Silent Force - founded and led by guitar player Alex Beyrodt - finally returns with a new studio album due out December 13th.
The album's titled, "Rising From Ashes," couldn’t be more appropriate, as many thought that the group had disbanded and would be gone forever, especially after Beyrodt’s success with his classic hard rock band Voodoo Circle and joining the line-up of both Primal Fear and Sinner.
The band’s new vocalist is none other than Michael Bormann, although in his case it could be said "old/new" because he already sang on the first (and only) album of the Silent Force predecessor The Sygnet (1998). Mat Sinner (bass), Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboards) and drummer André Hilgers (who is a part of Silent Force and even The Sygnet from the beginning) complete the new line-up.
Right after putting finishing touches on the new album, Silent Force filmed a video clip for the first single “Circle Of Trust."
Alex Beyrodt comments: "For me 'Rising From Ashes' is not just another new Silent Force record. The long break was necessary to rebuild the band and get rid of all false ascendancy. The new line-up speaks for itself, so does 'Rising From Ashes.'" More...
Pitchfork.com has leaked the first public track from NYC-based duo Psalm Zero, the project aligning Andrew Hock of Castevet and Charlie Looker of recently-disbanded Extra Life. Listen to the new track "Force My Hand" at this location. The following press release was also issued:
"Pulsing with a vibrant blend of genres and style into a mesmerizing style of their own, the A-side and title track of the act's debut 7", Force My Hand seems to build with underlying tension, at first resonating with a tranquil albeit creepy flow which slowly and steadily uncoils, the song growing more haunting and portentous when the crescendo comes.
"Force My Hand will see release on Looker's own Last Things Records on November 19th; preorders have gone live in conjunction with the track premiere today and are available here. While the duo have confirmed that they'll be releasing an LP with eclectic metal label Profound Lore in the Spring, the tracks on the 7" will be exclusive to this release.
"Catch Psalm Zero perpetrating their craft live at a record release show in Brooklyn on November 22nd joining the eclectic sets of Kayo Dot and Vaura, followed by a gig in Queens on December 5th supporting avant-noise technicians, Gnaw."

We made some amazing friends this tour and can't thank the Dying Fetus guys, along with the entire tour package, enough for being such amazing dudes and making this tour our best one yet.
"We'd also (of course!) like to give a huge thanks to all of you that made this tour possible for us. All of you that have been following us since day one, that gave us a floor to crash on, put some food in our stomachs, picked up some merch and hung out with us! We love all of you and couldn't do any of it without you!
"We'll be back out in December, so keep an eye out for some headlining dates we'll be announcing soon! We'll be finishing up most of the writing for our second album this month while we're off, so expect to hear some new tunes soon! "Bursting with just under forty minutes of jacked-up metallic thunder, Abominor presents a more aggressive and gritty side to the Rising sound while remaining true to the heavy, melodic tendencies that have been trademarks of the band since inception.
"Dynamic elements of contemporary stoner/sludge kingpins like Torche and Mastodon go head-to-head with infectious old-school riffery surging with ominous, Lovecraftian low-end thunder and incredibly infectious hooks, like Thin Lizzy covering Master Of Puppets, all with a black-blooded back-alley punk/crust vibe infiltrating the mix.
