Gold-certified progressive nü-metal outfit Mudvayne have returned with their first new single in 16 years, “Hurt People Hurt People.” The track features production from Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Foo Fighters) and mixing by Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Korn), and marks the band’s debut release under Alchemy Records, the new label co-founded by festival promoter Danny Wimmer.

Hints from past comments by frontman Chad Gray’s wife suggest that additional songs may already be in the pipeline. Addressing this long-awaited single, Gray shared:

“I think I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to break the cycle. We create our own suffering, our own hurt. It’s time for us to create self-love and let go of the pain. It was never ours to begin with.”

This freshly released single sets the stage for Mudvayne’s upcoming 25th anniversary tour in honor of their groundbreaking debut, “L.D. 50.” Joining them on this celebratory run will be fellow heavyweights Static-X, who will likewise commemorate 25 years of their platinum-certified debut, “Wisconsin Death Trip.”

Opening the trek will be Vended, the rising alternative metal act featuring the sons of two founding Slipknot members, making this lineup a multi-generational showcase of heavy music.

Chad Gray has been overly critical of today's metal over the past few years, so this was supposed to melt my face off, which it didn't.
