After a series of on-again, off-again reunions and breakups over the last several years, it appears Static-X is now officially dead. Wayne Static posted the following message online at the Static-X Facebook profile:
"Heads Up Y'all, with the Static X name dissolved, this page as well as the website may be going down soon.
"Be sure to like my personal page so that we can keep in touch and just to clarify, yes, I will be playing Static X songs on our Wisconsin Death Tour next year! I will post the new website info soon from my Facebook page."
Wayne Static has been touring as a solo act with a backing band after releasing the "Pighammer" album, and also recently appeared in the video game "Eternal Descent: Heavy Metal Heroes."
Atmospheric black metal outfit Vattnet Viskar never expected to get signed, and yet now the band has a full-length record officially out through Century Media.
"Sky Swallower" is a mix of underground black metal and acoustic ambiance, presenting a vision of Earth without humanity or technology, spurred on by the landscapes in the band's native New Hampshire.
Guitarist Chris Alfieri got in touch with Metalunderground.com to more fully explain the concepts and sounds presented on the album, as well to discuss the band's unexpected label signing and plans for upcoming heavy touring. Check out a transcription of the interview below, which also features music from the newly released album. More...
The Tourniquet Ark - a project from Tourniquet's Ted Kirkpatrick - has launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowd fund a new album.
You can check out full details on the campaign, including available perks for backers, at this location. The Tourniquet Ark also issued this statement:
"My name is Ted Kirkpatrick. I am the drummer and main songwriter in the band Tourniquet. I love animals and I despise animal abuse. I have been so blessed by all of you who have joined me at The Tourniquet Ark – where animal welfare meets Tourniquet - thank you! We have had some great comments and discussions here. I’m asking you now to take a new step and join me in making a cool - and I believe, worthwhile album. If my goal is reached, I promise to get this album in as many hands and to as many ears as possible.
"After a very successful Tourniquet Kickstarter campaign in early 2011 (thank you Tourniquet fans) I hopefully have a good idea of some really cool rewards to give out. I hope you’ll agree there is some great rewards on this one!
"If funded, the money will go for studio time, production costs, mixing, guest musicians (should be cool), artwork, merchandise, advertising, manufacturing – wow – I may be missing a thing or three, but you get the idea!
"Your pledge will allow us to make this possible together: – to encourage people to develop a 'compassion for creation,' connecting it to their daily lives. I believe this is the perfect time to do an album for musicians, fans, and anyone else who is willing to look at the plight of animals. The momentum has never been stronger and it’s not going away. American journalist and two time Pulitzer prize winner Nicholas Kristof speaks about animal protection as a critical moral question in today's society. 'Society will indeed look back on this time and wonder how humanity could have been so callous and cruel in its treatment of innocent and vulnerable creatures.' I think he’s right. Thank you all."

Recently the various members of Dark Angel issued statements about the possibility of a reunion and shows to occur next year, which can be read at this location. Now the band's management has posted this following clarification about the reunion:
"Due to the recent rumor-inducing statements made by estranged ex-Dark Angel singer Don Doty, the band is forced to offer a premature release of information.
"Dark Angel will reform for a limited number of appearances in 2014 in the U.S. and select festivals in Europe. These dates are still pending and have not yet been booked at this time.
"The confirmed line-up for these rare and unique, select 2014 shows features Gene Hoglan (drums), Jim Durkin (guitar), Ron Rinehart (vocals) and Michael Gonzalez (bass).
The lack of responsibility that Don Doty is displaying by posting false information and unfounded rumors is creating confusion for Dark Angel fans. There is no 'Team Don Doty' or 'Team Ron Rinehart.' There is ONLY Dark Angel. We will not be a part of anything that damages this band and its reputation."

Aenimus has posted the following message online about recruiting a new guitarist and drummer:
"First things first... We have parted ways with Brian 'Deebs' James. He has chosen to pursue his education, and with the band and touring being a first priority for everyone else, it was absolutely necessary for us to continue moving forward.
"Having said that... It is our absolute pleasure to introduce you to the newest members of Ænimus: Guitarist Miles Baker and Drummer Justin Tvetan!
"We got in touch with Miles a few months ago and he blew us away with his advanced level of musicianship. After a few video auditions we asked him to learn our live set and join us on the Transcend Reality tour, where he proved he was more than capable as a touring guitarist and had the right attitude as well. We knew that he would be a great permanent addition to the band.
"A lot of you may recognize Justin from his other band, Sacramento Math Metal instrumentalists, Journal. We started jamming with Justin earlier this year when he agreed to fill in for us on the Groove It Or Lose It tour. Needless to say, Justin killed it on drums every night of the tour and left a huge impression on all of us. It's hard to find people both capable and willing to learn material for a tour, but the hardest thing to do is find someone you can live in a van with for days or weeks on end. Justin's down to earth attitude and overall personality, coupled with his amazing skills behind the kit, made it clear that he was a perfect fit for the band.
"So there you have it!! Ænimus is now complete with a very strong line up of solid musicians, and we couldn't be more stoked for the future of this band. We promise to bring you the absolute best live performance of Transcend Reality every night on the road, and rest assured we are already writing new material that your body is not ready for! Oh, and expect some sweet brand new play through videos and more announcements soon enough!!" More...

"TheDevilzwork is releasing our new album, entitled 'A Dead Horse' via our bandcamp page on September, 11th 2013. There will be a very limited amount of CD copies available. We won't be doing any weddings, we only do funerals."

"This album is very in-depth with its lyrics and is meant to make people think. This is not Dungeons and Dragons. This is today, and the unfortunate world situation we as humans are dealing with. In celebration of the birth of "Abisso," the forthcoming new studio endeavor from Italian avant noise weavers, OvO, today the band has disclosed further album details as well as a video for the track "Tokoloshi."
Check out the new music video below. OvO will release "Abisso" on November 4th via Supernatual Cat. The following press release was also issued:
"Though OvO is a tricky band to pinpoint, it's easy to identify the evolution from Assassine's total improv to Cor Cordium's radical noise rock. Abisso marks a new artistic era for this eclectic twosome, formed by Stefania Pedretti and Bruno Dorella. There's a renewed richness to their sound, brought on by the use of samples, drum machines, pads, field recordings and synths. Cor Cordium and its predecessor, CroceVia, were veritable points of no return for their minimal rock designs, engaged in making as much sound as possible with very few elements: Dorella's half drum set, Pedretti's guitar and incredible voice.
"The new challenge is to go beyond those confines, using contemporary music tools to maintain their unparalleled creativity and eternal evolution. With the help of Giulio 'Ragno' Favero at the mixing desk, Giovanni Versari's mastering, and the friendly collaboration of Gnaw's Alan Dubin (formed OLD and Khanate) and Carla Bozulich with her full band, Evangelista, OvO have crossed into new territories of extreme artistry." Following the release of latest full-length "The Great Mass" (reviewed here), Septicflesh's previous albums have been seeing re-issues via Season of Mist.
"Ophidian Wheel," the third installment in a series of five deluxe re-issues, will hit stores on October 25th (October 29th in North America) in a remastered edition including three previously unreleased bonus tracks. Below is the brand new cover artwork, designed by Septicflesh vocalist/bassist Seth Siro Anton himself.
"Ophidian Wheel," which follows "Mystic Places of Dawn" and "Esoptron" (both reissued earlier this year), marked a critical turning point in the band's career upon its release in 1997. On this album, the Greek demons further expanded their musical vocabulary, and added female soprano vocalist Natalie Rassoulis. "Ophidian Wheel" sees the band moving even further into the symphonic-laden and classically-tinged metal arrangements that have become their calling card. More...

Lamb of God's concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia scheduled for September 28th has been cancelled by the country's government, who refused to issue a permit for the show even though the concert had been on sale and had sold over 1,500 tickets. Shows scheduled in New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand will still be performed by the group.
Lamb of God’s guitarist Mark Morton has issued the following statement regarding the decision by the Malaysian government:
“It is very evident (and a bit frustrating) that the groups, parties and powers that have taken the most offense to our music and lyrics, have themselves only made a passing glance at the content and meanings of those songs. We would invite anyone offended by our music to engage in a discussion regarding the true motivations behind our work, especially before publicly slandering us based on assumptions and shallow misinterpretation.
"We sincerely apologize to our amazing fans in Malaysia for the cancellation. Many thanks to all who have spoken out in support of us through this.”
