Very few things make me laugh out loud – television doesn’t do it for me anymore and even movie’s labeled as comedies rarely split my gut. However, Steel Panther still makes it happen for me. Their videos continue to top one after another. Probably not for everyone, but you have to give it to them – apparently no one ever says “too much” when pitching video ideas. More...

Guitarist, composer, producer and engineer Eyal Levi (Daath) has announced a second appearance on his "Unstoppable Recording Machine" audio boot camp tour, following a successful workshop in Cleveland, Ohio at RobArnoldWorld Studio earlier this month.
Levi's next hands-on recording experience will take place on December 11th, 12th, 13th and 15th at his Orlando, Florida studio with special guests Matt Heafy and Joey Sturgis. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and space is limited. For more information, and to sign up for the Orlando workshop, head over to this location.
Levi describes the boot camps as "intense, hands-on, comprehensive immersion style experiences that will show people exactly what matters when trying to make pro sounding recordings. In just a few days, we will cover what would take a year or more in traditional school."
Commented Joey Sturgis, known for his work with bands like Asking Alexandria, Of Mice And Men, The Devil Wears Prada and more, "Maybe you've felt like there's something missing and no matter how much you watch or read, the problems always surface. This is your chance to not only learn from us, but to also work alongside us in a professional studio setting. We will arm you with real world solutions to the problems we all face in our audio lives."
"I am honored and humbled to be selected by my good pal, Eyal Levi, to demonstrate the inner workings of what happens on a guitar-player's end of recording an album," added Matt Heafy, lead vocalist and guitarist for heavy metal group, Trivium. "Eyal is immensely talented and innovative in his technical work in the studio, and I am excited for everyone to see how it's all done!"
Born in Atlanta, Ga. into a musical family, Eyal Levi was already playing violin and piano by the age of three, and composed his first symphonic work when he was just 17. In 2010, Levi moved to Orlando, Fla. where he joined forces with Jason Suecof (Trivium, Chimaira) and Mark Lewis (Deicide, DevilDriver) at Audiohammer Studios. There he helped to both expand and enrich their facilities by adding a magnificent drum room, two new control rooms and sleeping quarters for the bands.

Raper consists of:
Alvaro Villagra - Guitar

Adds the band in a collective statement, "Psychogenocide is an album about manipulation and the deception of the human race for an agenda of a higher purpose. Denver doom bringers In The Company Of Serpents will unleash a brand new slab of slow-roasted audio disease on December 21st titled "Merging In Light."
The follow-up to the band's 2013 EP "Of The Flock" carries on the band's historically intestine-rupturing resonance with three tracks of lumbering cheerlessness. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado, "Merging In Light" flaunts over twenty slow, ugly minutes of true sonic desolation. The track listing is as follows:
1. Breed, Consume, Die
2. Third Mind
3. A Union Of Opposites
The album features artwork by illustrator Sam Turner (Sleep, Speedwolf et al) and will be released independently on limited 12" colored vinyl with an etched B-side. See the band live on these dates:

Paris-based sludge metal heathens Cowards - uniting current and ex-members of Sickbag, Death Mercedes, Hangman's Chair, Eibon, Glorior Belli, Hellbats and more - have been locked into the studio over recent weeks, the band completely immersed in the process of creating a second full-length release.
Having returned to the solace of Sainte-Marthe Studio (Arkhon Infaustus, Eibon, Kickback) where the "Shooting Blanks & Pills" debut LP and subsequent "Hoarder" EP were conceived, the members of Cowards have already harnessed the drums, bass, and main guitars, and will continue to pile on the levels of auditory grime and antagonism with producer Francis Caste until these new works are adequately dangerous for release onto the population in January 2015.
Some brief video clips from the recording can be seen at Facebook here. You can also catch the band live on these dates:
11/07/2014 La Instants Chavirés - Montreuil, FR

The band comments: "We made this video clip in celebration of 4 years of relentlessly touring around the globe in support of the album 'The Great Execution.'
"This video features live footage shots from most of the festivals and clubs we played on this tour so far, just for you to feel the live energy of the band, from big festivals to small clubs. No fake fantasy or bullshit, just the sheer power we deliver in our live shows.
"During the past 4 years we played in various countries around the world and we'll be wrapping up this world tour now by hitting places we haven't played before yet on this cycle, this time going to Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Dubai/Emirates."
Krisiun has also started working on a new album, which is set for release in 2015. Moyses Kolesne (guitar) comments: "We already have 8 new songs for the new album. We are still writing some more songs, and I can say we are very satisfied with the results. It's going to be recorded around February/March 2015, with a possible release in the summer of 2015." Swedish progressive rock innovators Pain of Salvation recently announced an acoustic album, "Falling Home," to be released in Europe on November 10th, 2014 and on January 13th, 2015 in North America via the band's longtime label partner InsideOutMusic.
A first track off "Falling Home" is now being launched online. Check out the acoustic version of "Linoleum" below, thanks to Prog Magazine.
Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in about the release as follows: "Damn, it will be so nice finally to have this album see the light of day in a context larger than my head, our rehearsing room and a multitude of work computers and hard drives in selected homes. It has been a long time, and the road to release has been very complicated and unexpected, including finding myself in hospital for four entire months after a close call with flesh eating bacteria. Who would have guessed as we set out to record a quick little acoustic something all those many months ago in what seems like another lifetime by now?
"On the other hand, it has turned this album into so much more than we ever expected it to be. I find the term 'acoustic album' very misleading. This album is as bold a statement as any of our albums, and will in the same way offer laughter, tears, surprises and challenges. If it's not original, if it's not uncompromisingly passionate, then it's not Pain of Salvation."
Gildenlöw commented about the track "Linoleum" in particular as follows: "I love the versatility of this animal, and I keep dragging it into different contexts to see how it will adapt and respond. In other words, this track was a given when we started discussing an acoustic project, and probably the first one I sat down with to rearrange. I have always loved to play around with the emotional spectrum of suppressed rage in music and lyrics, and making this song acoustic called for even higher levels of challenge when it came to finding that perfect balance of dialed down subtlety and sudden bursts of emotional display. I love how it came out in the end. An agile predator. Let's invent a word today: Pantheresque." More...

The San Francisco-based classic rockers Orchid have been honored by a creative fan with a self made Playmobil music video for the song "Wizard of War," which can be seen below.
The band stumbled upon the video when surfing the web and enjoyed is so much that they also would like to encourage other fans to do more along the same lines. Commented guitarist Mark Thomas Baker:
"Wow! This is so cool! Fan made videos are very cool. To think that someone would spend the time to make something like this is really flattering to us. Thanks to Marcus and Christina for their effort! If anyone has something like this on their minds - give it a go! We love this stuff and love to see what you make of it!!"
Commented director and die hard Orchid fan Marcus W.: "For quite some years now Orchid are one of my favorite bands. I've had the chance to meet these guys several times already and the truly are some of the nicest dudes on this planet. With this video I just wanted to do something nice for them, I hope I've succeeded!"

The Phoenix-based sludge masters from Twingiant are set to release their new album "Devil Down" this Winter.
"Devil Down" is the follow up to "Mass Driver" (available for streaming here) and was engineered and mastered by Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon) at Arcane Digital Recording. The band had the following to say about the new album:
"We’ll be releasing our 2nd, full-length album entitled, Devil Down, by the end of the year. We’re really happy with how it’s coming along and it’s been nothing short of awesome working with Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon) of Arcane Digital Recording. Since Tony (guitars) joined the band last summer, our sound evolved as you would expect.
"We have more of a 70s/Southern Rock feel now and it’s really evident on Devil Down more so than when we were flirting with that sound on the Sin Nombre EP. The vocals are probably the most noticeable change from the prior two releases. You can actually understand 75% of what Jarrod is saying and there are more of them now.
"Devil Down still has all the elements that you would expect from Twingiant, but you can definitely tell that we’ve matured and found our stride. We can’t wait to release it."
Further details about the album, including a complete track listing, will be announced shortly.

Sylosis recently dropped a music video for "Mercy" (available here), taken off the upcoming "Dormant Heart" album.
The band has recorded a guitar tutorial for the track, which can be seen below.
Commenting on the track front man Josh states: "Mercy is the first single off the new album. It's got a pretty dark and heavy vibe to it but it's one of the most melodic tracks on the album at the same time. It's got a big slow, doomy outro with an octave pedal on the guitars so that's going to rumble some guts live. For this video, we wanted to keep it dark and claustrophobic. It's got some of the artwork from the album and inlay illustrated as well which came together really well."
The new album "Dormant Heart" is set to be released January 16th, 2015 via Nuclear Blast. More...
A gigantic iceberg has been turned into the most unlikely of gig venues in the Greenland Sea, as U.K. metal band The Defiled performed on top of the floating platform for the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig – which sees artists put to the test as they perform in unconventional, ice cold conditions.
Braving freezing temperatures and fast flowing ice, the group performed the special set to a host of locals from the nearby town of Kulusuk, who ventured out to the ice field to watch this once-in-a-lifetime experience from an array of fishing boats and leisure craft.
Prior to taking to the icy-stage, Frontman Stitch D, along with keyboard player The AvD, bassist Vincent Hyde and drummer Needles spent time getting to meet local musicians and watching them perform their own traditional music, before inviting them and other residents to come and witness this unique one-off performance. The Defiled played a 30 minute set featuring tracks from latest album "Daggers."
In the lead up to the gig, the team scoured the area for several days on the search for the perfect berg – one that was large enough and thick enough to take the band and all the equipment. All of the instruments, sound equipment and the band members themselves were ferried onto the gig stage with the help of local experts who have lived and worked amongst these impressive ice floes for generations. “We are very proud to hit Europe again in November, especially with such a cool package. We've always been interested in Insomnium's music, and I personally enjoy their last work 'Shadows Of The Dying Sun' a lot.
"Also, I have to admit I just recently listened to Stamina and I really like they're groovy style too. I think their idea on the video clip for ‘Valtiaan Uudet Vaateet’ was great! I think the three of us will work very well together, since there's the right balance of violence, speed, grove and melody, so I am really confident it will be great every night. More...

South African outfit Truth And Its Burden has checked in with the following announcement about working on new material:
"A lot has happened over the years of this band. We've had dudes leave, kicked dudes out, got signed - got screwed, lost tons and tons of money, nearly lost it all, lost respect from people based on choices we made and a string of bad things that have happened over the years. Its been a long haul of struggle fueled by a shared passion.
"This has not been easy, but it has been worth it. We have had solid support from people who we feel TRULY loved us for the right reasons, and trusted us through it all, despite what was being said behind our backs. These people know who they are and we're ever grateful for their continued support and belief in us.
"Our new album is still being constructed, its something we feel will shed serious light on things we've previously thought not to openly discuss out of fear of rejection or fear of judgement from others. You can only keep quiet about things for so long before something has to be said.
"We are looking into possible tours for next year and some festival options. We will keep you all posted on the details, when we know more." More...

SPV / Steamhammer is proud to announce a new Virgin Steele studio album for February / March 2015.
This will be the first full-length album with brand new songs since "The Black Light Bacchanalia" released in 2010. David DeFeis describes the new album:
