Misery Signals Reuniting For Anniversary Tour

Milwaukee metal band Misery Signals created quite a frenzy last week when the band announced via social media that it would be hitting the road with the original line-up to celebrate the tenth anniversary of debut album "Of Malice and The Magnum Heart."

The band is now thrilled to reveal the complete itinerary for the Malice X tour. The 8-show tour, which sees original members Jesse Zaraska, Kyle Johnson, Ryan Morgan, Stu Ross, and Branden Morgan performing the debut album in its entirety, will kick off in Vancouver, BC on August 13th at The Biltmore Cabaret and will wrap up in Toronto at The Opera House on August 2rd3. For full tour information see below.

Bassist Kyle Johnson had this to say: "Malice was written and released at such a critical time in our lives as musicians. We were able to capture that raw emotion and create Of Malice and the Magnum Heart in response to those events. It’s the single most important musical release of our lives. I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to shake up those old feelings once more, ten years later, with the very people who made it possible."

Hrizg Streaming "From Endless Blackness"

Today, Spanish black metal band Hrizg premieres the new song "From Endless Blackness." Listen in at GunShyAssassin.com here.

Appropriately titled "From Endless Blackness" hails from Hrizg's forthcoming new album, "Individualism," which is set for release on June 22nd via Moribund Records. "Individualism" sees this one-man black metal cult perfecting his iron-willed, iron-clad craft, contorting the otherworldly mysticism of ancient black metal to his own isolationist design.

Mainman Erun-Dagoth comments: "I did Individualism as a call for the inner strength against those ones who crawl through the scene holding the banner of weakness. HRIZG plays black metal for the strongest of the strong!"

The album's track listing is as follows:

I. Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes (1:24)
II. The Darkness I Witness (3:31)
III. No Life After Life (3:25)

Sonisphere Festival 2014

Sonisphere Festival returned to Finland last week, to start off the festival season in Helsinki with a bang! Despite the fact that it is Spring and we’ve had hot weather rivaling the Mediterranean this year; we were instead treated to a cold downpour, which only the bravest of metal fans dared endure. Despite the less then summery weather, the turnout was dense, though admittedly covered in less then festive rainwear.

The dark sky was a glaring contrast to the laid back vibe of the festival hosted by Live Nation. Still the atmosphere remained upbeat; as Metallica and Slayer were to be headlining; and the instinct to nest indoors was trampled by the drive to see two such legends live! More...

Beige Eagle Boys Announces Debut LP

Baltimore's Reptilian Records is preparing to unload the scum-coated, riotous debut LP from Detroit noise rock/hardcore unit Beige Eagle Boys.

On "You're Gonna Get Yours," the trio's debut album, they blast out a quick and potent rust belt racket with all three gents hollering over top. Every studio meter red-lined, every tube amp threatened with exhaustion, all three larynxes threatened with whatever the hell happens to larynxes after this kind of abuse.

Ten songs were done the right kind of wrong way, and all of it iced off with a distorted cover of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry." A video for the LP's opening rager, "I Saw Your Face On The Pavement," has been uncaged and can be seen below.

"You're Gonna Get Yours" is due out on LP, CD, and digital formats June 24th. The track listing is as follows:

Randy Blythe Reacts To Brockie's Cause of Death

Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe recently posted a photo of himself with Gwar frontman Dave Brockie in reaction to the news that his death was the result of a heroin overdose, along with a plea to friends and fans about drug abuse:

Here's me with Dave Brockie & Brad Roberts of GWAR in 2006. Brad & I are still here, but Dave is gone- accidental heroin overdose, as many of you heard today. Not that it really matters, because dead is dead, but I don't think Brockie was a stone cold junkie when he died- he couldn't have done all that he did if he was strung out. He partied hard at periods, but I think he was more of a drug dabbler. But there's a lesson here- dabbling with drugs kills people dead every day, just like being fully addicted does.

I am so fucking sick of my friends dying from alcohol & drugs. Really, really, tired of it- some of them die slow in the throes of addiction, & some of them die after just doing something stupid one night after a party. Some if them fuck around and fuck around and fuck around..."I'll get sober one day..." For most of them, that day comes for sure- when we put them in a casket. It's better to be alive when you get sober.

In this photo I was still drinking- I am a FULL BLOWN ALCOHOLIC. When I drink, I do crazy, really ill stuff. But I am a sober man today. I LIVE FREE. I might die surfing in the ocean tomorrow, but I will go out doing what I love, not choking on my own vomit. Besides that, I can just try & help others, so I'm writing this to YOU- YES, YOU- you, the one who can't stop drinking & getting fired & pissing off your wife, you the one who steals pills from you friend's medicine cabinet, you the one who is in a dark hole & wants to die & the only thing that fixes it for a little while is a drink or a drug- WAKE UP. GET HELP. STOP. PLEASE, I'M FUCKING BEGGING YOU. YOU CAN DO IT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET SOME HELP. If I can do it, ANYONE CAN, because I was a TOTAL WRECK for YEARS. Just get some help, goddamn it. And if you haven't started, don't. JUST DONT. There is NOTHING cool about being an alcoholic, a drug addict, or dead. Trust me. For the love of God, just don't start. Please.

Allegaeon Streaming "Threshold Of Perception"

Beginning today the second track from Allegaeon's "Elements of the Infinite," entitled "Threshold of Perception," is available for streaming below, courtesy of Metal Sucks.

Guitarist Greg Burgess speaks about the track: "This song took me literally forever to 'get right.' I give Joe Ferris loads of credit for putting up with my nitpicking on the intro. "I want that choir bigger in the D Major section!" We should've knocked up T-Shirts for that part. Dude took my crap midi sketch and made it come alive. Other than that this is a pretty straight forward thrash tune, with a few polyrhythms thrown in to drive Mike and Brandon nuts."

"Elements of the Infinite" will be released on June 24th, 2014 in North America, June 23rd in the UK/Europe, and June 20th in the European G|A|S territories. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in Colorado Feb-April 2014.

In support of new album "Elements of the Infinite," Allegaeon will be hitting the road this August with Chimaira, The Plot in You, Upon This Dawning and Silence the Messenger as part of "The Artery Metal Tour." Dates are available after the jump. More...

Gross Misconduct Splits With Bassist

Canadian outfit Gross Misconduct has issued the following announcement about parting ways with bassist Brent Mackenzie and writing a new album:

"It’s been awhile since any meaningful update, so without further ado… First the bad news — Brent is no longer playing bass with us. He’s taking some time away from music to focus on other aspects of his life, and although we respect his decision, we also hope he changes his mind…

"Now the good news — we are still a band! Although we haven’t played live since that rad At the Gates show last summer, we are most definitely still jamming all the time, and the writing of our third album is almost complete.

"We really like where it’s going and our writing/playing chops have never been better ... despite our old age.

"We don’t have an ETA on when we’ll have a new bass player or when we’re going to hit the stage again. But worry not. We haven’t gone anywhere, and we don’t plan on it any time soon." More...

Lasting Impression Calls It Quits

Wisconsin's Lasting Impression has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it quits:

"The Lasting Impression name is ending. For various personal reasons, we have decided to let this rest.

"Each moment you screamed lyrics back, each handshake you gave, and every moment you ever gave to this band has been appreciated more than anyone could ever explain. Tears are falling as this message is being typed because of all the moments we, as a united being, have shared with each other.

"We’ve always said that this is YOUR band. You are a part of Lasting Impression as much as the members on the stage. We began because of just ONE band’s performance that changed our lives. We hope that somewhere along the line, we have made an impact on even just one person, because that alone makes it all worthwhile.

"We apologize for anyone that is hurt by this decision, as it is something that we have to do. We will remain in other projects, and you will see new bands form. We will perform one final, last show on Friday June 27th, 2014 in La Crosse, WI at the Warehouse.

"We opened our very first show there, and now we will close out our last show there. Friends from far and wide, please join us for an emotional goodbye. To quote the song from which we are named after….'We share a gift. We share a legacy.' The memories we, as Lasting Impression, have shared with you will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you." Devin Townsend Posts "Mountaintop" Clip

Today Independent.co.uk has released a new video clip from Devin Townsend's "Casualties of Cool" release. Check out the clip for "Mountaintop" below. Hevy Devy also comments:

"Here is the official video for Mountaintop from our Casualties of Cool album. I have been a fan of Jessica Cope's work for a while now, and the opportunity to work with her rose for this album and we are thrilled with the result.

"Although the concept of the video is loosely based on the concept of the record, we found it worked better as a stand alone piece. Che and I therefore decided not to have the characters in the video portray us personally.

"I hope you enjoy this, I'm so happy to have an opportunity to work with brilliant artists in my career. I'm very proud of this album and video!"

Vanhelga To Release New Mini-Album

Vanhelga guitarist/vocalist 145188 has issued the following update about releasing a new mini-album:

"This creation is the result of a long period of time being hospitalized under the Swedish law called 'LPT.' I had no freedom at all and the only thing present was total misery and silence. All lyrics, music and artwork was created during this time of isolation because I was lucky and had access to a laptop.

"The conclusion of this is; if you want to get a feeling of the anxiety, misery, depression and pain that being locked inside of a psychiatric ward provides – listen to this piece of art. It will be a mini-album available on spotify and bandcamp only."

Moonspell Comments On The Passing Of Quorthon

Portuguese Gothic metal band Moonspell has issued the following statement about the 10th anniversary of the passing of metal legend Quorthon:

"Ten years and one day have passed since Quorthon left us and headed to Valhalla but his legacy lives through, in the shape of the many fans and enthusiasts whom followed his footsteps with their bands and projects.

"Moonspell is one of them and we would like to pay just a modest tribute by hailing Quorthon and his memory, not only in many of our songs and lyrics but also in the way he dealt with his fans.

"Fernando and many of the original members of Moonspell to be (Morbid God) were there and you can spot him/them at 4.29 (Fernando is on a Sodom shirt, mullet hair eheh) but according to him, this was maybe the happiest day of his life.

"The week after Moonspell was born. Enjoy and never forget Quorthon on his way up high!"

Nihilo Premieres Full New Album

The Swiss picturesque Emmental is not only host of cows and cheese, but also some first class metal!

Swiss metal outfit Nihilo is marking 10 years as a band with the "Dum Spiro Spero" album - the group's sixth release overall.

The darkest Nihilo material to date, the "Dum Spiro Spero" lyrical themes range from wars and manslaughter to zombiesque criticism of the society we know today ("We’re All Infected"). These lyrics stand as a framework for the band's trademark death metal with a big side serving of doom and grind.

The album was recorded live at Hidden Stash Studios in Bern, Switzerland, and includes a 20+ minute title track.

Today the band has teamed up with us at Metalunderground.com to premiere the album in its entirety: check out all of "Dum Spiro Spero" below, and let us know what you think of the release in the comments section! For more info on Nihilo, head over to the band's Facebook profile here. More...

Drummer Sander Zoer Splits With Delain

Dutch symphonic metal act Delain announced that drummer Sander Zoer has split with the band due to major changes impacting his personal life. Ruben Israel will be taking his place permanently. Israel filled in for Zoer during the band's recent North American tour with Kamelot and also provided additional drum work for the band's latest album "The Human Contradiction."

The announcement from the band reads as follows: "Today we share with you the news that our drummer and friend Sander Zoer has decided to take a step back as Delain’s main man behind the drums, due to some major recent changes impacting his personal life. Though he will be stepping out of the limelight, we are happy that he will still be active for Delain behind the screens and our friendship will continue off-stage.

"Also, we are very happy to introduce to you Ruben Israel who will step in as Delain’s new drummer. Some of you will already know Ruben from when he joined us on our US tour with Kamelot last fall; this is where we got to know Ruben as the great guy and great drummer he is. We are confident that he will do an absolutely fantastic job and warmly welcome him to the Delain family!

"Ruben will continue where he started and will replace Sander behind the drums starting our upcoming US tour with Sonata Arctica this fall. Sander will be performing all festivals with Delain until September, except for 06-06-2014 Luxor Live at Arnhem where Ruben will fill in. There will be a special gig with Sander in his former hometown Groningen, on October 24th."

Sander Zoer commented: "8 years ago I took place on the Delain drum chair and this is the best choice I’ve ever made, but now the time has come to take some steps back. I need more time for my other activities in Delain behind the screens, to develop myself, other projects and jobs, and family.
However I will not completely disappear from the radar; you might see me behind the drums at some venues or festivals from time to time. I want to thank the Delain family for all the good times, and a very big thanks you to all fans around the world!" More...
