Bands Describe Their Personal Video Games

Arcade Sushi asked musicians from a variety of metal bands what would happen if a developer made a game specifically about them.

The full article includes answers from Sworn Enemy, Avatar, Red Fang, Lord Dying, Vintersorg, and more. Excerpts from the article follow:

The Atlas Moth

If The Atlas Moth had a video game it would be a survival horror game set at an immigration office. You'd have to sneak around solving puzzles and collecting paperwork, while avoiding being spotted and killed by border guards. It could be called Temporary Resident Evil.

Pet the Preacher

Our game would be called "Oh Sh--." It is a roleplaying game where you have to locate and capture a preacher who is on a rampage in a big, futuristic city. He is drunk, drugged and violent, raging around town comitting crimes and partying. You are the preacher's son, and every time you see him do something sick in the news or read about him in a newspaper, you go, "Oh sh--." Also, your character does not have any legs, so he can't catch the preacher, which also means you can't win the game. It will not be a seller.

Provocator Releasing Debut Album

Moribund Records has set August 19th as the release date for Provocator's debut album, "Antikristus." The label also issued the following statement:

"Provocator comes from the sick & twisted mind of Bleeding Fist founder Hellscream, Antikristus his vilest and arguably most violent project yet. Across Antikristus, Hellscream conjures from his black-blood cauldron a hypnotic whirlwind of primitive, primal savagery that positively reeks of the ancient ways of black metal.

"But while reverent of the most diabolical works of Beherit, VON, and Sarcofago, Provocator imbues its blackout trance with a potent sense of ritualism and devil worship, a crude 'n' caustic pulse that aims to either possess or erase - or both. The original vanguard of isolationist black metal, Moribund once again delivers the one-man goods with Provocator."

The album's track listing is as follows:

1. Let Jesus Fuck You (intro) [0:09]
2. Unholy Rape Of The Holy Whore [3:51]
3. 7 Storms of Eternal Damnation [4:47]
4. Conqueror Of Blasphemus Revenge [5:02]
5. Profanation of the Cross [3:50]
6. Kirkebrann [3:35]
7. Black Star of Lucifer [3:52]
8. Antikristus [3:24]

A statement from Hellscream reads: "The story started in 2012 when I started to put together all the old material that I never used for Bleeding Fist and was laying down in my closet for years, so I wrote the first EP, Darkness is Rising, which was released under the banner of Doomentia Records, strictly limited to 300 copies as a 7? vinyl. After that release, I was pretty much inspired in that old raw and morbid way of making music, so I decided to start putting together the full-length, which was written in a few days. After that, I booked the studio and recorded the whole album in a day. Provocator is simply a tribute to the old raw sound of the the first wave of black metal as Hellhammer, Blasphemy, VON, Bathory." More...

Cripper Inks Deal With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the addition of German thrash outfit Cripper to its roster. The label comments:

"Cripper are convincing with their enthralling mix of old-school and modern thrash metal. Served with technical refinement and a lot of groove, they kick ass while being varied and distinct. Since their founding in 2005, the guys and gal from Hannover, Germany have left their marks as being a rousing live band, carrying the audience with dashing songs and sweaty shows.

"On tours with Overkill and Onslaught, Cripper have spread their virus throughout Europe. Once a big festival was infected, they would book the band again – Cripper played several times on festivals such as: Summer Breeze, Wacken Rocks, Metalfest, and Rockharz Open Air. But there's more – boarding the well-known 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise ship from Miami twice, playing the Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic, shows at the Bang Your Head, in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and being invited to enter the stage of the Slovenian Metaldays five times have allowed Cripper to gain international recognition and a continuously growing fanbase.

"So far, Cripper have released three studio albums and with that formed their distinctive style. The creative works of this highly motivated self made team is always showing through in three different aspects: the album artwork, merchandise, and so far four complex and artistic music video productions that the band has self-produced from start to finish. Some new song material is ready, which will form the cornerstones of the upcoming album are set. Fire at will!" More...

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody Posts Update On New Album

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody posted an update on the impending new release "Prometheus - Symphonia Ignis Divinus." Originally planned for a summer release, the album has been pushed back until the latter part of 2014.

The update reads: "Hi to all! Here we go with an important update related with the new Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody album entitled "Prometheus - Symphonia Ignis Divinus." In reality we can not tell too much until an official statement by Nuclear Blast will appear (and we guess it should appear in a short time). What we can just reveal in the meantime is that the release date will be postponed of some more months and that the reason for that is that the album is going to be '…nothing else than a real masterpiece!' (Markus Wosgien, Nuclear Blast - Head Of Promotion). Yes, that was the amazing reaction of our friends of Nuclear Blast who recently had the chance to hear a demo of the first songs extracted from the new Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody album. Markus continues: 'Cinematic, orchestral and epic as only Rhapsody can be. Probably more cinematic than ever before as in some cases I had the real feeling of sitting in front of a giant screen and to enjoy the vision of a big budget Hollywood movie while listening to an amazing soundtrack of the last generation where metal, hybrid music, symphonic, folk, opera - and much more - blend themselves perfectly! Honestly I don’t find other words to describe the amazing melodies of this extraordinary album with an outstanding Alessandro Conti, some of the greatest choirs ever heard in this kind of music, some great surprises and many songs that could soon become real hits!.'
