Svart Records has announced the signing of California's Bog Oak. The band's debut Svart release will be a limited 10"/mini-CD in the autumn, with a full-length album later in the winter of 2015. Svart Records comments:
"Bog Oak formed in October 2013 around the core of Phillip Gallagher and Matthew Woods Wilhoit, who both lived in the Sacramento area. They met when Gallagher answered an ad placed by Wilhoit looking for someone to jam with. The pair bonded over their mutual love of heavy metal, tube amplifiers, and occult philosophy, writing the songs 'A Shepard’s Teeth for a Winter’s Coat' and 'Dragger' during their first jam session with Gallagher on drums and Wilhoit on guitar.
"After recording these songs at Earth Tone Studios in Rocklin, California, with session bassist Robert Lander, the pair decided to shop their demo around and place an ad for a vocalist. Julie Seymour responded, and got the job after one audition: Gallagher and Wilhoit were impressed with her ability to switch back and forth between black metal screams and ethereal clean singing. German heavy metal band Grave Digger today presents its own "Return Of The Reaper" red wine. Ordering information is available at this location.
The wine is also available in an exclusive special edition with the upcoming album "Return Of The Reaper" (due out July 14th in the U.K. & July 15th USA/CAN via Napalm Records) delivered in a coffin with signed autograph card and guitar pick. Axel Ritt comments:
"For us it was important to provide the local aspect. It makes no sense to rent a winery anywhere in the world just to stick our label on it and otherwise have no relationship to the product. We decided on a winery region which is located very close to the band's location.
"Head of the winery, Michel Schott has not only a great affinity to metal, he also looks just like a metalhead and is singer of metal band. Therefore, the intersection between band and winery was much larger than it's normally the case." More...

June 14 @ Desmond's Tavern - New York, NY
June 26 @ Buzzbin Art & Music Shop - Canton, OH

As an extension of frontman Chris AhKao regaining his life from personal demons, this debut EP is a testament to that. Listen to the release below. More...

Midnite Collective has announced the release of Ancient Altar's debut album, "Ancient Altar," which will be ready to infect the masses July 15th in both digital and cassette formats. The label comments:
"Hailing from Los Angeles, the land of the unrelenting sun, Ancient Altar bring an arcane philosophy and a stripped down approach to their bristling and brutal brand of heavy rock. Formed in late 2013, the band features bassist Scott Carlson and guitar player Barry Kavener splitting vocal duties, along with guitar player Jesse Boldt and drummer Tom Oz, who together have birthed a slow burning doom/sludge combo.
"Fresh off a Spring mini-tour of Central/Northern California with plans for a full West Coast tour in August, Ancient Altar are currently preparing their scorching four-track debut release, recorded and engineered by Etay Levy (Lana Dagales, Gallows of Sedition, ...Of the Dead), with additional recording and mixing by Gary Griffth (Morgion), and mastering by James Plotkin (O.L.D., Khanate, Jodis)."
The Florida based technical metal pioneers in Atheist confirm today they will be recording their fifth studio album during 2014 for a release slated next year.
This album will mark the return of Tony Choy and his debut recording alongside founding members Kelly Shaefer and Steve Flynn.
Kelly Shaefer comments: “We are happy to report that the 5th Atheist LP is in the works, and the band could not be more excited about the possibilities... Tony Choy will join us this go around, and having the endless rhythmic possibilities will be amazing.”
Rounding out Atheist will be Chris Martin and Jason Holloway, both having joined the band on the past tours and have also not been featured on an Atheist recording yet. Jason Suecof has been tapped to record and mix the new album. Shaefer comments:
“We will be working with Jason Suecof on this record, he has such a vast wealth of knowledge of our history as well as our sound, and we were lucky to be able to have him mix ‘Jupiter’, but this time he will be involved in the recording as well as the mix so that will be beastly!!“
Atheist has also signed a worldwide management deal with New York based Extreme Management Group, Inc. The band states: More...
Blood And Ink Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Household:
"Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Household has unleashed a raw yet mature blend of modern, melodic hardcore. Just barely out of high school, these five have already learned what it means to work hard and make a name for themselves in the Minneapolis scene.
"With no concern for the status quo, their take on punk/hardcore is passionate, intense and simply refreshing. Comparisons to the likes of Killing the Dream, Shai Hulud and Sinking Ships seem fitting yet Household provide enough of their own take on the sound to create their own brand of melodic hardcore. Keep an eye out for these guys in the coming year!
Noise Noise Magazine also today hosts the music video for Household's "Reservoir." This is the first song off the band's debut EP due out later this year on Blood & Ink Records. Check it out below, and see the band live on these dates:

Southern Lord Recordings is beyond stoked to broadcast that Today Is The Day has joined with the label's roster for the release of a tenth studio album later this year. The label comments:
"Early this year, Today Is The Day's newest lineup was announced, as the foundation of the then unnamed album was taking shape. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Austin welcomed Sean Conkling (Regression, Burn Your Halo, Sprawl) on bass as well as returning member Jeff Lohrber (Enabler, ex-Harlots), Lohrber having previously handled touring drum duties for TITD many times in the past.
"Conkling and Lohrber tracked most of their sessions in December and January at the founding frontman's own Recording and Mastering Studio in Maine. Since, Austin has been painstakingly layering guitars, vocals and more, and as the final sessions for Today Is The Day's tenth studio full-length will be taking place in June, the band happily unveils the name of the impending LP, as Animal Mother."
"Sometimes things just dial-in and align perfectly," Steve Austin stated on signing with Southern Lord. "Myself and Today Is The Day are extremely excited about working with Southern Lord Records and Greg Anderson. To me they have the right idea about the kind of music they release; heavy, real, experimental, integrity-driven music is what the label represents to me. Today Is The Day's Animal Mother LP on Southern Lord in 2014... I don't think I could ask for anything more!"
Added Southern Lord owner Greg Anderson on the union, "Southern Lord is deeply honored to be working with Today Is The Day Steve Austin has been a long time force in the underground and we're stoked to now be a small part of the TITD legacy." More...

"Blood Music is extremely, incredibly proud to announce the greatest extreme metal band of all-time to its roster - Emperor!

This month marks the return of the Khuda duo, and with it the arrival of the group's biggest and most fully realized album "Molasses Constricts The Clinostat."
If you're down for some dynamic instrumental post-metal, then we're proud to bring you a full stream of the entire album today. Check it out below, and let us know if you dig it in the comments section.
The Leeds/Jyväskylä based twosome has been carving out an unholy body of work since forming in 2007, drawing on the brooding, angular influence of bands like Hella and Russian Circles and setting sounds against an imposing progressive metal backdrop. "Molasses Constricts The Clinostat" is a body of music populated with bold compositions driven by the ambition and percussive/rhythmic attack of guitarist Tom Brooke and drummer Steve Myles.
Despite the 1500 kilometre divide the separates them as individuals, together they have performed over four hundred gigs in more than thirty countries, sharing stages with the likes of Russian Circles, Mono, And So I Watch You From Afar, Torche, Caspian and Red Sparowes.
"Molasses Constricts The Clinostat" is Khuda’s third full-length album, following 2010’s "Palingenesia" and 2011’s "Iecava," which were also released on Prügelprinz Records and Field Records. More...
