Sunday Old School: KISS

This week is a special week for Sunday Old School because it’s the 250th column. One of the genres covered has been the glam and hair bands of the eighties. No band provided more of an influence in this area then KISS. Known for over-the-top antics, make-up, merchandising and farewell tours the boys from KISS have ruled since the seventies. Other Eyes Wise Enters The Studio

One year after the release of debut album “Zer(o),” Other Eyes Wise is now back in studio to record a new full-length.

The sophomore release is being produced by Wahoomi Corvi at Realsound Studio in Parma and is scheduled to be unleashed via WormHoleDeath later this year.

The album title, track list, and release dates will be announced shortly. In the meantime you can check out the “Climb Above” single from the band's debut album below.

Curse Of The Forgotten Recording Single

Dutch deathcore outfit Curse of the Forgotten has officially started the recording process for a new track, which will be made available for free download online. The band's label WormHoleDeath comments:

"This is going to be heavy stuff, so stay tuned for updates this next period. In the meantime check out their album trailer below! Their debut album 'Building The Palace' is still hot and available via digital download and CD!"

Syphor Drops Off Philfest

Irish outfit Syphor has checked in with the following announcement about dropping off the Philfest 2014 lineup:

"Due to a private situation out of our control we've had to withdraw from the Philfest line up today. We are sorry to anyone who was looking forward to seeing us, as we were looking forward to entertaining you but the matter is completely out of our control and feel we wouldn't be able to do you or ourselves justice.

"We wish Phil all the best with his Festival and encourage anyone who was planning on going, to go. Some great Irish bands will be on display.

"We will be back on the road soon with Sinate & Legion of Wolves in August and hope to be bringing you some good news soon about more European dates."

Insight After Doomsday Releases Lyric Video

Modern metal act Insight After Doomsday has released a lyric video for the track "Departure," taken from newly released album "The Way to Nihilism."

The single features the band collaborating with Bjorn “Speed” Strid, vocalist from Soilwork. "The Way to Nihilism" was recorded, mixed, and produced by Ricardo Estrada in 2014 at IAD Studios Barcelona, and mastered by Jan Richardson at Hollywood Restroom Studio.

Melancholic Goth four piece A Tempered Heart today unveils a lyric video for the brand new single “In Your Blackened Arms,” extracted from the new album “Loneliness and Mournful Lights.”

The album was recorded at Hell Studios in Villarreal (Spain) with Ruk Nebur (Killus guitarist) and produced by Ruk Nebur and A Tempered Heart. The track listing is as follows:

Biomortal Releases Album Five Years In The Making

Double bass drum and synth led metal band from London, Biomortal, has finally released the long awaited album "Genesynthesis."

The album was produced by Paul Theobald (guitarist/vocals) and mastered by Jacob Hansen of Hansen Studios (Mercenary, Volbeat, Ginger Wildheart, Xerath) and weighs in at 11 tracks at 69 minutes long.

It’s taken 5 long years to get out, due to several dealings with various labels which ended up coming to nothing. Paul explains, "The album’s been done for a couple of years now, but we wanted to release it the right way and within the established comfort of a label. Opportunities never panned out so we just wanted to release it ourselves before people lost interest, which they probably have already haha." More...

Common War is a four piece group hailing out of Fullerton, CA playing a blend of punk and hardcore with a flare for metal. The band has now inked a deal with Eulogy Recordings, which comments:
