Sonic Pulse Streaming "Jerkoffagus"
Sonic Pulse has posted a track online for streaming titled "Jerkoffagus," which can be heard below or downloaded at Bandcamp here. The band comments:
"Two years and several lineup changes later, here's the first official single off of our upcoming full-length album! This song is about a group of adventurers being lured to their deaths by the evil temptress Cleo-fap-tra. Once a great queen of Egypt, now her spirit tempts explorers into eternal sexual frustration within the Jerkoffagus..."
"Jerkoffagus" features such stunningly cerebral lyrics as:
Once you see it, you know what's happening
Trapped inside you can't stop fapping
Deepest secrets, dark desires
Burn your retinas just like fires
In your mind, fact comes from fiction
Burning at your flesh with friction
Waste away so blissfully
Welcome to your eternity

Fen Working On New Album
The U.K. atmospheric post-black metal band Fen (not to be confused with the Canadian band of the same name) has announced that work on a fourth full-length album has begun and is progressing well.
As things stand, the band anticipates that it will be ready for release towards October/November of this year. The as-yet-untitled album will be a follow up to 2013's “Dustwalker” (reviewed here) and will once again be released on Aural Music’s Code666 label.
Commenting on what fans should expect from the new album, Fen's frontman The Watcher had this to say: "Our new work will be darker and more intense. Invoking a spectrum of atmospheres from the unknowable coldness of distant stars to the blood and earth that thrums beneath our feet. This record takes the approach we started on ‘Dustwalker’ and builds on it further, whilst simultaneously acknowledging the more obscure-sounding roots of our debut. Bleaker, harder, yet at the same time more ambient, this record moves us further away from the accepted tropes of what ‘post’ black metal should sound like in 2014."

3. Blood, Booze and Gasoline (3:05)

Brotherhood Recordings Unearthed By Southern Lord
Late this Summer, Southern Lord will exhume all material from late 1980s Seattle hardcore band, Brotherhood, collecting the influential act's demos and 7" releases in one remastered, cohesive anthology entitled "Till Death."
Southern Lord will release "Till Death" in deluxe LP and digital download packages in September. A confirmed street date, preorders. and more on the album will be made available in the coming weeks. The label also comments:
"Brotherhood was formed during the West Coast Hardcore surge in the same days of Insted, Bl'ast, Chain Of Strength and Uniform Choice, the members all bred in the Northwest on The Accused, Poison Idea, The Melvins, and with East Coast threads born of SSD, DYS, Corrosion Of Conformity and Straight Ahead all comparatively woven into their sound.
"A straightedge hardcore band that confronted racism, sexism and intolerance, both in their lyrical delivery and on stage with ill-mannered show attendees, Brotherhood was a rare band of this scene as they were accepted in all of the subgenres of punk rock and hardcore, even receiving praise in the -- at the time -- very anti-straightedge publication MaximumRockNRoll, as they did in the many adamant straight edge fanzines of the time.
"This near universal acceptance can be clearly be attributed to the many years each member of the band had spent previous to Brotherhood in bands, publishing fanzines, booking shows and promoting bands as well as the bands strong desire to buck most trends that came their way and forge something new.
"The band was founded in Seattle by Greg Anderson in 1987, who recruited former False Liberty drummer Victor Hart, friend Ken Hagel on bass and East Coast transplant and Open Your Eyes fanzine editor, John White on vocals. After years as a singer in False Liberty and Inner Strength, Greg picked up the guitar and started writing songs built upon those previously mentioned influences. More...

“The song ‘Wolves of War’ is a statement of aggression and angst towards all that have never given us a chance. This is our answer to the naysayers. With a foot upon your throat, we will be heard,” says Burn Halo vocalist James Hart. “Our label and management felt confident enough after hearing early demos that they pretty much left us alone during the recording process allowing us to make the record we envisioned, with no compromises and no regrets. This album is that vision." More...

Mindcage Mixing New "Our Own Devices" Edition
Metal fusion band Mindcage has entered the mixing stages on the upcoming special edition of "Our Own Devices" with triple-platinum producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Accept, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Helloween) at his WireWorld Studio just outside of Nashville. The original version of "Our Own Devices" was self-produced by the band and engineered by Wagener.
The special edition of "Our Own Devices" is set to hit the masses this summer, and follows the original album’s engaging storyline, inspired by the fiction of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. The record introduces the world to the character of Arabella Vash, a young woman who uses the power of her dreams to transform the dystopian world she inhabits. The special edition sets the state perfectly for the band’s upcoming second installment in the story.
“I think the band is really doing something very interesting with the dystopian and steampunk themes.” says Producer Michael Wagener. “It's a cool concept and something new. The music really suits it. I really had a lot of fun helping bring this musical vision to life.”
“With Michael Wagener at the helm producing the songs from the ground up, it has been nothing short of astonishing not only sonically but in the way he has distilled the essence of our sound and framed the spirit of each of the songs exquisitely,” says Mindcage's Dietrick Hardwick. “He has done the unexpected at every turn, yet followed the arc of the story perfectly. The broken dystopian world takes a turn towards being restored to an empire of glory, and the new songs come out of that oppressive world into stunning grandeur, then it culminates with a very powerful cliffhanger you never see coming that leaves you in a state of suspense and hungry for the next chapter. He has really conveyed the drama of this album with these new and different pieces, this release will truly be special for our fans.”

"With all this in mind we knew we had to bring out the big guns....... ORIGINAL TWK VOCALIST GEORGE BIRCH IS BACK! (Embrace of the Narrow House, Shadow over Atlantis and An introduction to the Black Arts Split 12”with COUGH)
"If you wondered what George would have sounded like, what his take would have been on the new material, or you never got to see tracks like ‘The Baptism of Atlantis’ performed live, well this is your chance!!!
"For the first time ever, our live set will feature songs from all four of our albums. See you there!" More...
