Pit Stories: Metsatoll And The Siamese Hair Twins

Each Tuesday we check in with metal musicians from across the world to get their best Pit Stories from live shows.

Today Estonian folk metal band Metsatoll shares a tale (which the band swears is true) involving Siamese hair-twins, flavored lube, and backstage jujitsu. Metsatoll's Kuriraivo tells the story this way:

Once upon a time on one Metsatöll gig the were two longhaired moshers n the
front of the stage. The crowd was bizarre, men with drinking horns, women with horny drinks, drinks with horned men. Mad! And those two moshers, one small and thin as Mexican money, the other big, long and strong as (censored).

Anyway, they got somehow stuck within each others hair and they kept on moshing during all our songs. The tiny-one seemed to flew through the air as the big-one moshed his feet up from the ground. Yes, there was unnatural power in the mosh of the censored-one. After the show, we were all very excited, as we all saw the "mosh of the pseudo-Siamese twins," we called the pair to the backstage after that and offered our help to let them loose from each other. As we have on the tour different kind of lubrication-crèmes: you know, with the strawberry, pepper
and iron taste. For every occasion. So, we tried to use this stuff on mosher hair. Nothing.

Then we had an idea to use our stage-manager Janno, hes been doing judo for
at least three lifetimes, so he tried some of his famous ju-jitsu. The Mexican-money-man did loose some of his hair from the top of his head, but luckily the hair in the back did stay still long, so its still metal! And the bigger guy turned out to be a bearded woman with only one foot and a
golden ring inside her nose, just escaped from her home and a man, who’s cheating her with an Alice Cooper male fan. Mosh and go! What a night! The unbelievable part of it is that it’s a true
story!

Metsatoll will be touring with Eluveitie and Tyr this Fall, with dates available at this location. The shows will be in support of Metsatoll's new album "Karjajuht" (reviewed here). Find out more about the album by reading our interview with the band. More...

Deception Of A Ghost Cancels Tour Dates

North Carolina outfit Deception Of A Ghost has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming live shows:

"Attn everyone! We regret to inform you that we will not be able to make the tour that is starting tonight.

"Our drummer badly fractured his hand last week, and on doctors orders he just is not able to do it. Our good friend and former drummer Bryan helped us out on some local shows, but is just not able to tour at this time. Only having less than a week to try to find a fill-in, it was just too short notice for us, and we have to drop. We are all super bummed about it, but the shows are still on and we hope you'll go to check out the other awesome bands that are playing! We plan on making it up to you all VERY soon.

"On another note, we have a NEW SONG that we are releasing next TUESDAY, JUNE 10th! We have been working really hard on this and can't wait for you all to hear it!! We will be doing some giveaways of hard copies of our last album this week to celebrate the coming of new DOAG...So spread the word, and get ready.

"Thanks again for your understanding, and unending support, we love you ALL!!"

Group Seeks To Remove Metallica From Glastonbury

The Glastonbury Festival 2014 is set to take place between Wednesday June 25th and Sunday June 29th, 2014. Metallica will be playing the Saturday night Pyramid stage, but one group isn't happy about the famous band's presence at the festival.

A new Facebook page has been created titled "Remove Metallica from GlastonburyFestival," which as of this writing has 3,700+ "likes" so far. The subject of their concern? Metallica's James Hetfield will be narrating a new History Channel show covering big game hunting in Alaska. The group comments:

"James Hetfield, lead singer of Metallica is a supporter and promoter of big game hunting. He is currently fronting a History Channel show 'The Hunt' about hunting Bears in Alaska. This does not represent the values of environmentalism that have come to be so important at Glastonbury."

We All Die (Laughing) Featured In Art Expo

When asked by French photographer Mathieu Drouet to contribute a track to a contemporary art project for his "Grande Plage" June 2014 exhibition, French-Bulgarian progressive extreme metal entity We All Die (Laughing) created an exclusive instrumental piece based on their debut full-length, "Thoughtscanning." The series will feature twelve pieces, each with a song written and recorded exclusively for the exhibition. Drouet will press a single copy 12-inch LP with one of these pictures as artwork, the band's contribution and an experimental audio rendition of the photography's digital file's data, making this unique ambient noise track the "sound of the picture."

Teaming with Drouet, Kaotoxin will digitally release this new EP on August 12th. Titled "Tentoonstelling" ("exhibition" in Dutch), the two track EP will feature a 13:49 long (date pun intended) piano jazz rendition of "Thoughtscanning" titled "Variation on the Scanning of Thoughts," while the second track will be Drouet's experimental audio rendition of the front artwork's photography.
