Allegaeon Enters Billboard Chart For First Time

Allegaeon's new album "Elements of the Infinite" (reviewed here) was released last Tuesday in North America on Metal Blade Records.

For the first time ever Allegaeon cracked the Billboard Charts and Canadian Charts with this release. "Elements of the Infinite" came in at #25 on the Billboard Hard Music Chart, #31 on the Canadian Hard Rock Charts and #141 on the Canadian digital music charts.

On the day of release in Canada, the album was #1 on iTunes Metal Chart, #6 on the iTunes Rock Chart and #38 on the iTunes Top 200 Current Album Chart. In the US, the album peaked at #3 on the iTunes Metal Chart.

Guitarist Greg Burgess commented on the debuts: "This morning we awoke to find out our charting position for Elements of the Infinite. If someone told me 10 years ago, that I'd be typing this, playing in a death metal band, especially one with a mascot who wears a frickin' wolfs head for a hat, I would've had you locked up. They say with hard works comes rewards, I say with hard work and amazing fans comes rewards. This is a huge win for our Allegaeon and our Legion!" More...

John Dolmayan: "We're Turning Into The Eagles"

Last year Shavo Odadjian took to Facebook to express his displeasure about the lack of recording a new album with System Of A Down, and now John Dolmayan has chosen to speak about the situation in a new interview.

Loudwire.com conducted the interview with Dolmayan, who jokes the band is "going to become The Eagles" and not record an album for 15 years. Excerpts from the interview follow.

Loudwire: You seem like the member who is the most gung-ho about making a new System record. Do you feel that’s the case?

I’m not sure if I’m the member who wants it the most. It’s probably true about [me] being the most vocal about wanting it. For me, there’s no ego involved. I don’t write songs, so I’m not worried about who’s going to write the song. I’m just ready. You just give me the canvas so I can paint on it, that’s how I look at it. So it’s easier for me, but look, there’s a lot of emotions involved with being an artist; there’s a lot of emotions involved to being a songwriter; and there’s a lot of fear involved with anything that you haven’t done in a long time. To go in together and work together? We’re different people. 2005 was the last time we were in the studio together. That’s what, nine years ago?

Loudwire: It’s weird to think that.

But it’s true. We’re turning into the fucking Eagles now. 15 years are gonna go by before we make a new album. [Laughs] For me, it’s irritating. But I do the best I can to understand that there’s a lot to be worked through in order to make something great and if it isn’t fantastic, there’s no reason for us to do it.

Machine Head Issues Album Update

Machine Head has checked in with the following update about working on a forthcoming album:

"Album cover is done! And album title too! We'll probably make an announcement soon enough, but we are really freakin' stoked with it!!!

"Been working with a new artist named Marcelo Vasco. We got turned on to Marcelo’s work through Gerardo at Nuclear Blast and let me tell you…this kid has delivered some fucking glory! He took updated MH ‘Lion Crest’ that Rafal Wechterowicz (we call him Raf for short) had designed with us, and added this whole other dark trip to it. We've decided to base the album package off of an old Alchemy book, with aged, sepia-toned pages on the insides, alchemy wood-cuts.

"As we talked about before, one of the things we were so excited to sign with Nuclear Blast about was the next level, special packages they do for their bands. This Machine Head set up may be their biggest yet! Just the album alone will come in deluxe CD, vinyl gatefold, and the piece-de-résistance, a red foil and leather bound 48-page media book with CD. Some album bundles will come with a hard resin Machine Head diamond logo around the media book. There will be something akin to an 'ultra bundle' as well, which will include a completely custom Epiphone Guitar (with the new lion crest artwork) courtesy of Epiphone Guitars. This shit is ridiculous!!"

Sleeping Giant Posts New Lyric Video

Sleeping Giant has teamed up with AbsolutePunk to premiere a lyric video for the brand new track "Overthrow," which can also be heard below.

This will also serve as an initial offering from Sleeping Giant's 4th full length album, "Finished People," which will be released on August 19th in North America / August 18th in Europe. Vocalist Tommy Green has this to say about the meaning behind this initial track:

"This is about the hardcore scene. Just my opinion. But here it is....

"There is something really attractive to me about a lot of people liking something at the same time. I find myself caught up in the hype and taken a bit by the feeling of connectivity. I like being a part something. I got involved in the scene because I needed family and community to keep me sober and creative. I also was drawn to violence and hate. I am a relatively happy dude but I was caught up in what felt like being in an instant gang with a built in soundtrack.

"I'm not making fun at all. I wanted to fight the world and I felt like when I discovered the hardcore scene in Salt Lake City I had found my place. Come death or jail or isolation, I felt like we had a culture that was different. Some of that has faded in the sheer popularity and commercialism of this culture. But it's still there for me in different ways. More...

The Missing Vocalist Hoaxes Soldier On

Following the ill-conceived hoax from Upon A Burning Body claiming the band's front man had gone missing, Corrections House has now jumped on the same bandwagon.

According to a press release, the Corrections House minister of propaganda Seward Fairbury has turned up missing from his place of residence this week in California after an apparently violent confrontation within his home.

Corrections House member Scott Kelly said, "The last time I had any contact with Seward was ten weeks ago; it's not uncommon to not see him for weeks at a time, but he always keeps us in the loop with a postcard or a phone call about once a month. We went by his trailer and it was completely trashed; it looked like there had been a serious disturbance. If you've ever met Seward, you know he's mean as fuck and he isn't gonna go anywhere he doesn't want too. We're reaching out through our connections and through Seward's extensive family and trying to figure out what is going on."

Corrections House will soldier on "without" Fairbury, and continue to do work. The band is releasing a live record due out this Fall entitled "Writing History In Advance" through War Crime Recordings, will continue to work on a next full-length due out in early 2015, and will appear at the Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark this Friday, July 4th.

Slipknot Finishing New Album

In a new interview with Loudwire.com, Corey Taylor of Spliknot has revealed the band's new album is nearing completion.

Slipknot had previously announced the band would finally be returning to the musical world some time during 2014 after the group went on extended hiatus following the death of member Paul Gray.

An excerpt from the Loudwire interview with Corey Taylor follows:

The album is done. I’d say 98 percent done. I’m in the process of heading to the studio to give a listen, see if there’s anything we need to touch up. But yeah, it is very close. The next step is the mix, and we’re going to try to get it out very soon. There will be big announcements soon. Big things to hear soon. That’s really all I can say about it. I know we’re anything, if not diligent to our plan. The plan is to just slowly but surely get people to lose their minds for the next couple of months with just little stuff here and there leaked.

There's been some turmoil in the Slipknot camp this year as well, with Joey Jordison getting booted. Further details on the album will be forthcoming.

Twitching Tongues Announces "World War Live"

Twitching Tongues and Closed Casket Activities are proud to announce the "World War Live" limited LP/CD. Close Casket comments:

"Recorded live in the Van Nuys stadium called The Pit in front of twenty screaming fans, this is (not) a true testament to the event that occurs when this band hits the stage. The band was tired of hearing 'they're better live,' so here it is.

"With a setlist comprised mostly of songs from their latest LP, In Love There Is No Law, as well as previous material, the record almost doubles as a best-of the band's current stage. The album cover was made by the legendary Sean Taggart (Carnivore, Crumbsuckers, Agnostic Front) and hardcopy buyers will regret their purchases slightly less with the addition of bonus material."

Closed Casket will release "World War Live" on CD, LP and digital download on August 12th; preorders will be available shortly and a trailer is available below. The track listing is as follows:
