In a new interview with Loudwire.com, Corey Taylor of Spliknot has revealed the band's new album is nearing completion.

Slipknot had previously announced the band would finally be returning to the musical world some time during 2014 after the group went on extended hiatus following the death of member Paul Gray.

An excerpt from the Loudwire interview with Corey Taylor follows:

The album is done. I’d say 98 percent done. I’m in the process of heading to the studio to give a listen, see if there’s anything we need to touch up. But yeah, it is very close. The next step is the mix, and we’re going to try to get it out very soon. There will be big announcements soon. Big things to hear soon. That’s really all I can say about it. I know we’re anything, if not diligent to our plan. The plan is to just slowly but surely get people to lose their minds for the next couple of months with just little stuff here and there leaked.

There's been some turmoil in the Slipknot camp this year as well, with Joey Jordison getting booted. Further details on the album will be forthcoming.

this will be interesting, new drummer, new album in 6 years, the firing of root in stone sour who wasn't happy with that decision btw now all of a sudden doing a new slipknot record with a member that fired him, without grays presence, the main stream rock direction taylor has taken the past 8 years, i'll admit im curious but im in no way shape or form expecting anything like their first 2 records which was their best work.
corey taylor has ruined this band, his politics, his attention seeking for the spotlight, incorporating his stone sour project into slipknot and how he really put the band aside and basically said they'll be a new slipknot record when im ready to do it when other members like Thompson, jordison and crahan have been chomping at the bit to do another record and to get back to the earlier days sound and lyrics wise of old.
the loss of jordison hurts not just for his drum skills but because of the passion and writing he had done with the band, him gray and crahan are the life support of that band, now without 2 of them its hard to believe they will ever be a shell of themselves let alone tolerable listening wise.
