Fenix Tales Recording New Album

Italian Gothic metal band Fenix Tales will be hitting the studio in September to record a new full-length album due out in 2015.

The band is currently busy with the pre-production on the tracks to appear on the next album. Fenix Tales also comments:

"The new album will maintain the Fenix Tales style, empowered with a stronger energy in both the metal and the classical pieces, combined with a refinement of the sound and of the pictures evoked." More...

Kistvaen Unveils New Album Artwork

Romanian black metal outfit Kistvaen is finally following-up the 2010 release "Unbekannte" with a new album titled "Desolate Ways."

This new release is due out later in the Fall of 2014 and will be distributed via Soon & Moon Records. The album cover can also been seen below, and was created by Alexandru Moga of Kogaion Art.

Sidious Posts New Album Trailer

London's Sidious has a new album trailer out now, available below, and the band also comments:

"We present to you a short teaser of our forthcoming debut full-length release where you can sample just under a minute of one of our album tracks.

We Are The Riot Releases Music Video

Los Angeles based hard rock band We Are The Riot - featuring Meegs Rascon & Mikal Cox of Coal Chamber and Andy Cole (ex-Static-X) - has released an official music video for the track "It's Not What You Wanted."

The video, produced by Brian Cox at Digital Iris, was filmed at the Salton Sea near Palm Springs, California, and can be seen below.

"It's Not What You Wanted" is the first release from the band's new EP (available now), and the group will be heading into the studio this November to record a full-length album.

Thomsen Releasing New Album

Germany's Thomsen has a teaser trailer out now for forthcoming album "Unbroken," which is due out September 19th, 2014.

The "Unbroken" full-length features a slew of guest appearances by Udo Dirkschneider, Vinny Appice, Bobby Jarzombek, Andre Hilgers, David Vincent, Mathias Don Dieth, Arne Neurand, and Helge Engelke. The track listing is as follows:

Rob Halford Video Interview Available

Metal Injection has released a video interview with Judas Priest front man Rob Halford and guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner.

The group discusses new album, "Redeemer of Souls" and its recording process, the band's legendary outfitting, and what a modern day version of Heavy Metal Parking Lot would look like.

Halford also discusses sitting in on a Simpsons read-through and being a gay front man in a metal band. Halford revealed he has never been approached by a gay metalhead since coming out, but he welcomes it.

Within The Ruins Posts Music Video

Within The Ruins released a music video for latest single "Gods Amongst Men," which can be seen below thanks to Metal Injection.

The band's new LP "Phenomena" is also out now and can be heard in full at this location.

"We had a lot of fun playing with fire on this one. It was also great to work with Kevin Custer for the 3rd time. He nailed the vision we had for this video. Enjoy my friends!" says front man Tim Goergen.

Co-directed by veteran Kevin J. Custer and Jess Orsburn, the video is laced with explosions and fire which is nothing short of what one can expect from a Within The Ruins live show.

Voyag3r Posts "Doom Fortress" Preview

Voyag3r (pronounced "Voyager Three" and not to be confused with the band Voyager) is gearing up to release new album "Doom Fortress" on August 26th, 2014 digitally, with physical LP, CD & cassette versions available September 6th, 2014.

The instrumental draws inspiration from sci-fi, horror, and action soundtrack music from the 70's & 80's. Voyag3r has set out to create dynamic, epic, moody, and atmospheric sounds intended to inspire

Voyag3r forges its sound with a multitude of analog synthesizers, acoustic drums and electric guitar. "Doom Fortress" was recorded using vintage analog synths, electric guitar through vintage tube amplification, and maple shell acoustic drums. All music was recorded to 2" analog tape (MCI JH-24 2" Analog 24-Track w/ALIII remote) through various vintage pre-amps and a 1977 Custom Harrison 3232 console for maximum authenticity and spirit in capturing this classic sound.

Savatage Reunion Show Set For Wacken 2015

Promoters for the Wacken Open Air Festival announced that Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be performing live on stage at Wacken 2015, followed immediately by a Savatage reunion gig that will mark the band's first live performance in over a decade. Furthermore, these appearances are the only live appearances for both bands in Europe during 2015.

Guitarist Chris Caffery proudly proclaimed in his Facebook post: "I am extremely happy to make this post! Today our friends at the Wacken festival announced that Savatage will be finally playing again! Wacken 2015! Both Savatage and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will make an appearance! Savatage will close the festival that night following #TSO's first ever European festival appearance! I have been waiting for then to announce this for a a few weeks! It was hard to keep it a secret! Yes Legion...our patience has finally paid off...Savatage will play again next summer!"

In addition, Running Wild will return to the stage after playing the farewell performance in 2009 before recently returning with two studio releases ("Shadowmaker" and "Resilent").

Other band named in the first wave of acts are: In Flames, In Extremo, U.D.O. (Special Orchestra show), Sabaton, Amorphis (Special "Tales from the Thousand Lakes" show), Death Angel, Powerwolf, Ensiferum, Kataklysm, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura and Thyrfing.

Sunday Old School: Belphegor

As we’ve mentioned a few times over the past months, this year Sunday Old School is aiming to cover a lot more countries in our articles. Some of the nations we’ve taken a first look at have given the world of metal some highly controversial names, both literately (such as Rotting Christ from Greece) and in terms of theatrics (such as Poland’s, Behemoth.) This week sees the latter trend continue, as Sunday Old School examines a band from Austria for the first time. A blood drenched, blasphemous, outrageous group that goes by the name of, Belphegor.

The group was formed under the moniker Betrayer in Salzburg in 1991 by guitarist, Helmuth and Sigurd, vocalist Maxx and a drummer named Chris. Whilst using this name, they recorded two demos, "Kruzifixion" and "Unborn Blood," before changing their alias to Belphegor, named after a demon who was supposedly responsible for discoveries and, according to the Dictionnaire Infernal, Hell’s ambassador to France (because if anywhere is going to have an embassy for Hell, it’s France.) They would release only one demo with Maxx after changing their name in the guise of 1993’s, "Bloodbath in Paradise." After Maxx’s departure, Helmuth assumed vocal duties and the group recorded another demo, "Obscure and Deep" through Perverted Taste Records in 1994, before their first official album, "The Last Supper" was released in January 1995 via Lethal Records.
