Behold! The Monolith Recruits New Singer
Los Angeles stoner metal band Behold! The Monolith has announced the addition of vocalist Jordan Nalley to its ranks. Nalley joined the band following the tragic loss of bassist/vocalist Kevin McDade.
Guitarist Matt Price comments: "I met Jordan through some friends at a Mastodon show. Came to find out we had a few mutual friends, and that he was a vocalist and actually did a bit of vocal coaching for the heavier styles at Musicians Institute.
I took a lesson from him and brought our CD, "Defender, Redeemist." I got a call from him about a week later. He loved the album and wanted to audition. At the time our new bassist, Cas, was in Europe with Sasquatch and our drummer Chase was filling in for about a months worth of Castle's North American tour. So we had to wait a few weeks to give it a try. But when we did it was obvious the chemistry was there.
He sounds great on the old stuff, and his range is great so he's taking the new stuff into even darker gnarlier territory! We played our first show with him and it went great! We're pretty fucking stoked and are in full writing mode. We're hoping to be recording in very early 2015 (we've been talking to Billy Anderson and he's 100% on board)."

Stephan Forte Posts New Track
French guitar virtuoso Stéphan Forté (Adagio) has announced his brand new solo album "Enigma Opera Black" to be released October 28th. This is Forté’s first studio album in three years and the first released on his brand new label Zeta Nemesis. Listen to the first song “Zeta Nemesis,” featuring Marty Friedman, below.
Without the constraint of outside pressure and forces, the guitarist was able to swing for the fences in a way he hadn’t in the past. The result is a fresh neo-classical, metal endeavor that incorporates a number of different thematic elements exploring the darker side of the human condition.

Sunday Old School: Vio-lence
One of the wonderful things about thrash metal is that while some bands became superstars, others have earned eternal credibility amongst metal fans for their furious live shows and underground classics. Perhaps one of the best examples of the latter comes, unsurprisingly, in the form of a band from San Francisco, Vio-lence. The group was formed by guitarists Phil Demmel and Troy Fua, vocalist Jerry Birr, drummer Perry Strickland and bass player Eddie Billy, brother of Testament frontman, Chuck Billy.
Changes were soon made to the band, most notably when Birr was replaced by Sean Killian, who utilised a unique cadence in his singing style and former Forbidden guitarist, Robb Flynn. They soon signed a contract with Mechanic Records and entered the studio to record their first full length album, "Eternal Nightmare." The record is now considered to be one of the best thrash metal albums of all time by dedicated thrash fans, thanks to such songs as "Kill on Command" and "Bodies on Bodies." More...
