Autumn's Dawn is stream the entirety of debut album, "Gone," which can be heard in the Bandcamp payer below.
"Gone" is set for North American release on September 3rd via Eisenwald, and the label also issued the following press release:
"Very aptly titled, Autumn's Dawn's 'Gone 'is a kaleidoscopic plummet into the depths of despair and regret. Upon a foundation of melancholic melody, Autumn's Dawn create a nine-song cycle of dark, emotive energy, dynamically spanning depressive rock, post-black metal, and plenty in between.
"Most of Gone's song titles - 'Until My Heart Corrodes With Rust,' 'Grace of the Grave,' 'When the Sun Sets for the Last Time,' and 'Blank Stare, Dead Eyes' among them - vividly portray its contents, and the bright 'n' balanced production illuminates every shadowy corner. Although Gone is Autumn's Dawn's debut album, the Australian duo are hardly newcomers: vocalist/drummer Sorrow is the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed Germ, and did time in cult OZBM bands like Austere, Woods of Desolation, and Nazxul among others.
"In many ways, Autumn's Dawn in general and Gone in particular can be seen as a more refined version of Grey Waters, a short-lived yet celebrated band of Sorrow; in other ways, one can imagine Sentenced and Mono squaring off with Germ and Austere. Any way you describe it, Gone is the end...and the beginning." More...

Lost Soul has issued the following announcement about wrapping up a work on a forthcoming album:
"We proudly announce that we finished works on our new album. We have decided that we will work on 'Atlantis' as long as we must to achieve a desired quality, as we believe that the music on this album is so good that it couldn't be spoiled by weak mix.
"We approached mix four times. Each time we had to wait for free spot in the studio. The recordings began in April last year. By the end of June 2013 we recorded drums, guitars and bass. A month later we recorded solos. Meanwhile unfortunately, I had an accident and couldn’t firmly stand on my feet for five months, to record the vocals. Eventually in January 2014 we recorded vocals, keyboards, samples and extras.
"In February we recorded 12-piece choirs that uniquely affect the atmosphere on the album. After unsuccesful cooperation with one studio we decided to make the mix in Hertz Recording Studios. Wieslawski Bros. We’d like to thank them for patience. With tremendous work, focus, dedication and commitment, we achieved the sound that perfectly reflects the message of 'Atlantis.'
"Taking a closer look at our discography, we don’t need to prove anything to anyone. But we wanted to prove to ourselves that we are able to create a material sounding damn live, powerful, hard and heavy, and at the same time selective. We wanted to show that playing so extreme music like LS we can record 100% live drums, we can record a few guitars per side, we can get a fantastic sounding bass, find a place for the vocals, which I’m very proud of... With all the things that emphasize the needs of the present times in terms of production, live production, the new album Lost Soul is still very selective and smooth, its great in reception from beginning to end, fully thought out and mature. Every time I listen to it, I have tears in my eyes. Tears of emotion, pride, victory. More...

Today, black/ambient/industrial cult Empire Auriga streams the entirety of the forthcoming album, "Ascending the Solar Throne." Give it a listen at Halifax Collect here. The following press release was also issued:
"The band's long-awaited comeback record, Ascending the Solar Throne is set for release on August 19th via Moribund Records. Empire Auriga's debut album, Auriga Dying, was critically acclaimed for its ahead-of-the-time fusion of black metal, dark ambient, and industrial, all coalescing into a cosmic black hole that was both devouring and debilitating.
"Eight years later, Empire Auriga return with the highly anticipated Ascending the Solar Throne. Aptly titled once again, Empire Auriga bring us the true sound of interstellar death with Ascending the Solar Throne. Here, the mysterious trio exists as the delirious melancholia awakened by union with the void, wisps encircling the kernal of futility at the center of each body, shining with listless abandon, seething as evaporation through obsolete ruins, smoldering with the intuition of having seen through the membrane. This is the sound of Ascending the Solar Throne!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Prophetic Light [5:45]
2. Jubilee Warlord [5:32]
3. The Solarthrone [5:01]
4. Waste [2:50]
5. Planetary Awakening [5:30]
6. Are You Worthy of Gold? [4:06]
7. The Foundation of All Human Fears [4:56]
8. The Last Passage of Azon Grul [7:21]
Ensiferum has completed the writing process for an upcoming new album and Metal Blade Records debut.
With pre-production out of the way, the band is prepared to begin recording. Work will begin on September 8th at Astia Studio in Lappeenranta in Finland with producer Anssi Kippo. Fans can expect to hear new music at the beginning of January, 2015.
Bassist Sami Hinkka offers the following update: "Hi folks! Only a couple more weeks to go! We head to Astia Studio on 8th of September and recordings will take around five weeks.
"We had really good and creative pre production sessions with Anssi Kippo so now we are very well prepared to give 110% on each take in the studio. Because the songs were almost ready when we made the demo versions of them, Mr. Mikko Mustonen is already arranging orchestrations on top of those. Gotta love technology!
"There are still few minor details to arrange and couple of lines of lyrics to twist and turn but nothing can stop us anymore! We are convinced that this will be ground breaking album for us and the whole genre. (Modesty? What's that?)"

Technical blackened death metal trio Solace Of Requiem has released the official music video for "Soiling the Fields of Putridity." Taken off the band's newest album "Casting Ruin," the song and video both address religion's choke hold on science. Stream the censored version below. The band comments:
"This video was entirely self-made on a very small budget. We hope you enjoy what we have created.... The men in gas masks represent the pioneers of science, technology, hard work and progress. They also represent the many martyrs of science that have sacrificed so much in the name of logic and reason.
The shrouded figure represents organized religion and its paralyzing veil of ignorance, apathy and segregation. The Slave Girls represent the innocent victims that are born into a society that has enslaved them without their consent nor their knowledge.
The Slave Master represents the false prophets and self-proclaimed deities that have used their dogma to advocate oppression and barbaric behavior. The landscapes represent the common reality we all share with each of the groups represented within them. In essence, the landscapes offer an insight into the true reality, which is ultimately left unchanged."

Italian veterans Methedras have released the video for "Subversion," the first single off the band's upcoming album "System Subversion." The video, directed by Salvatore Perrone (The Modern Age Slavery, Dillinger Escape Plan) is now playing below.

Sanctuary punctuated the 1980s with an exclamation point with "Refuge Denied" (1987) and "Into the Mirror Black" (1989). Their initial effort was a chillingly dark record that towed the line between power metal and thrash. Warrel Dane's falsetto voice rivaled metal gods King Diamond, Rob Halford and Geoff Tate. Also, Dave Mustaine produced the album and played a solo on their cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit," further marking this as a metal classic.
Dane injured his voice during the making of the album, which forced him to sing in a lower register than the previous recording. Although the sophomore recording didn't retain such incredibly high vocals, Dane sang with a greater sense of anger and developed his deep narrations. On the whole, the album showed more progressive traits with heavier grooves and prominent bass lines via Jim Sheppard. The album also showed a fuller production.
This album would also mark the band's swan song. Rumors formed that the band quit due to pressure from their label to become a grunge band, which guitarist Lenny Rutledge refutes. Dane, Sheppard and the newly acquired Jeff Loomis would go on to form Nevermore, which showed the three shed its 80s metal armor for 90s metal groove and progressive virtuosity.
Seventeen years after disbanding, Sanctuary reformed. A couple years after their reformation, Nevermore split. After a few years of shaking off the rust in front of crowds, mostly during one-off shows such as the metal cruises 70,000 Tons of Metal and Barge to Hell, once again the band landed itself in a studio and created its first recording in twenty-five years, "The Year The Sun Died." I spoke to the main man behind the music (Dane wrote the lyrics), Lenny Rutledge to get a sense of how they made this comeback. We had a bunch of catching up to do in the following interview including hearing about the band's split, return and getting Dave Mustaine on board to produce "Refuge Denied." More...

D.C. area metal band A Sound of Thunder has dropped a bombshell of a track for an exclusive premiere right here on Metal Underground.com. The song appears on the upcoming new release "The Lesser Key of Solomon," which will be available on September 9th via Mad Neptune Records.
After a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign for the release of the band's previous effort "Time's Arrow" - the band followed that up with an even bigger crowd-funding success for "The Lesser Key of Solomon," so much so that the band funded the new album, a covers EP and the first tour for the West Coast this November.
"The Lesser Key of Solomon" represents the strongest material for A Sound of Thunder, which sees the band grow in both song writing and progression. Check out our review for the album at this location. One of the finest tracks is "Elijah," a 9 minute 30 second opus that features a new side to versatile vocalist Nina Osegueda's voice as a nod to King Diamond.
We asked Osegueda for her thoughts on the song: "Elijah is the kind of song I dreamed of creating since I first heard King Diamond. I wanted to tell an original story that was twisted and evil, and I wanted to be able to utilize a few different singing styles so it would be challenging. I wrote a short story about the characters to get inside their heads and map out their personalities and objectives. To me, it's more than a song, it's a whole world we're describing within just 10 minutes. I wanted to make sure that world was as colorful and bloody as possible."
Guitarist Josh Schwartz also commented: "'Elijah' is definitely our most ambitious song to date, both musically and lyrically. It's almost a mini-opera. [Vocalist Nina Osegueda] worked incredibly hard on the vocal harmonies on this, not just stacking up three part harmonies, but doubling each part and matching every little nuance from her lead vocal track in her harmony tracks. The result is a massive, lush chorus with a very cinematic feel. The song is going to be challenging for some listeners. There are a lot of tempo changes, unusual harmonies, and a big key change right in the middle of the chorus, but I think our fans will get it." More...
Florida doom metal act Northern Crown will release the debut EP "In the Hands of the Betrayer" on October 14, 2014. The title track can be heard streaming over at this location.
"In the Hands of the Betrayer" features five intense pieces ranging from four to twelve minutes in length. Covering the emotions of retribution, shock, outrage, and despair in the originals, the album rounds out with a cover of Candlemass' classic song "Crystal Ball." "Doom, specifically, is about alienation," main songwriter and guitarist Zachary Randall explains. Randall goes on to note that, "this is easily the most personal art I've ever created, both musically and lyrically." Each song, the oldest more than ten years in the making, is detailed, emotive, and pronounces a rare resonance and memorability. Northern Crown is the sound of realization and reaction, with a touch of smoke and mirrors - an approaching, encroaching storm.
Album vocalist Frank Serafine summons a formidable blend of his vocal influences, such as Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford and Jorn Lande. Drummer Josh Brown is guided by the rule of elegant simplicity in his style and contributes many nuances to the songs both in pushing a section or pulling back the momentum. Featured performers also include guests from psych metal pioneers Orbweaver, with guitarist Sally Gates contributing leads and Randy Piro summoning bass guitar lines from the aether. Additionally, Roberto Celentano of Shadow Society adds a keyboard presence in the forms of organs and piano throughout the record, recalling Ray Manzarek, Jon Lord, Ken Hensley and Per Wiberg, which completes the crux of the smothering atmosphere.

1. In the Hands of the Betrayer
2. A Perfectly Realized Torment
3. Crystal Ball (Candlemass Cover)
