But nobody will be able to leave a Sleepwave show saying we phoned it in." More...

Megaton Leviathan is preparing to release "Past 21: Beyond The Arctic Cell" on September 9th, 2014 via Seventh Rule Recordings.
The record was mixed by Megaton's newest resident thaumaturgist, Mort Subite (V.I.I.R.L., Alfheimr, Benighted In Sodom live), and is a near lethal dose of solemn audio narcotic, shifting the listener somewhere outside the realm of space-time for the duration of its dissociative transduction from speakers to brain.
Sonic Altar has issued the following announcement about posting a new song online and going on indefinite hiatus:
"Hello world! Wow... It's been some time. Firstly, apologies for the lack of communication surrounding our activity this year. Friends and family will obviously already know what has been going on but for the rest of you, hopefully this will shed some light.
"Dave and I relocated to Gothenburg (Sweden) in January to pursue another project called The Terrorhawks and everything is in full swing over here. During this time we have also built our own recording and rehearsal studio called Greyskull.
"The project has since developed into a fully functional band. We are currently finishing off an album and are booking some gigs in Sweden and Denmark before the end of the year. When we have a single or something out, I'll post it up here for those interested.
"As for Sonic Altar, we are on an indefinite hiatus. Around 7 years of my life was dedicated to this band and perhaps some day it may return in some shape or form. But in the meantime, our respective interests are focused elsewhere. It's taken some time for me to be able to post this, due to many different reasons but the main one being that it is quite a sad thing to admit. There wasn't any animosity or anything between the band that has caused this, it was just time to take things to the next level and that could only really happen the way that it has. More...
Black Salvation has issued the following announcement about a lineup change with the band:
"The times they are a changin, and so we need to announce that Christian Seitz has chosen to leave Black Salvation in order to find salvation on his very own path.
"These last five years were full of profound experiences and all kind of significant moments we surely will keep in our minds.
"However that won't tear us apart and won't affect any of our plans as we already found a replacement.
"Simon Wender will take care of the rhythms and beats from now on and we're fucking eager to go on with him, exploring new aspects in writing songs & playing live. 1st show with Simon will be in Dresden 3rd of September."
Catch the German metal band live on these dates:
30.08 - Leipzig - last one with Seitz
03.09 - Dresden - 1st one with Simon

Witch County England's Devilment - featuring Dani Filth - has published the first episode of an official album interview series for the band's upcoming debut album, "The Great And Secret Show," which is scheduled to be released on Halloween 2014 (October 31).
Check out members Dani, Daniel, and Lauren talking about the band name origin, the musical direction, and how the group differs from Cradle Of Filth in the video below.
The band, consisting of Dani Filth (vocals), Daniel Finch (guitar & samples) Colin Parks (rhythm guitar/lead guitar), Nick Johnson (bass guitar), Aaron Boast (drums), Lauren Francis (keyboards & vocals) recently signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
Dani Filth had this to say about the signing, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Nuclear Blast family with my other band, the Witch County fiends Devilment. Our debut album »The Great And Secret Show« is a horror-metal fuelled slay ride of maleficent proportions and deserves some deep infernal love from a label that has dominated the metal market for aeons. And we have found that unconditional love at Nuclear Blast. All of us in the band are really looking forward to the forthcoming months, as the proverbial war machine kicks into gear and the album surfaces like some sub-aquatic monster hellbent on smashing stuff. Until then keep a cyclopean eye out for regular social media updates, videos and the announcement of live shows to further whet your appetite...” More...

While currently on another world tour, this time to support the "Pariah’s Child" album (reviewed here), Finnish melodic metal heroes Sonata Arctica swung by the studio to re-record debut album "Ecliptica," which was originally released 15 years ago.
This new version will be released on October 24th under the banner "Ecliptica – Revisited; 15th Anniversary Edition" through Nuclear Blast.
Way back when, "Ecliptica" was recorded at Tico-Tico studios and mixed at Finnvox by Mikko Karmila. The album was promoted live on tour with Stratovarius and Rhapsody. Henrik 'Henkka' Klingenberg comments:
"When it first was suggested to us by our Japanese label that we’d re-record our debut album 'Ecliptica,' it felt a bit weird, but somehow the idea grew on us. Being that only Tony and Tommy played on the original one, we thought that it would be a fun thing to do, to give these great songs another run.
"We’re definitely not trying to re-write history, the original 'Ecliptica' is the starting point of this band and a very special album with a certain feel of innocence and enthusiasm which cannot be recreated as such since we’re not teenagers anymore. Having said that, this new version is more of a tribute and an update on how these songs sound when played by our current line-up.
"We wanted to stay true to the original album as much as possible and not turn this into some weird re-arranged project where you couldn’t tell which song was being played. So here it is, the 15th anniversary version of 'Ecliptica'.
"Hope you enjoy it, we certainly had a good time digging into these songs and laying down the tracks." More...
Saturnalia Temple is now working on a second album, planned for an early 2015 release. Listenable Records also issued the following statement:
"As a band that moves intently and without compromise, this new recording is also being done in their own studio 'Sitra Ahra,' in the forests outside Uppsala, Sweden.
"The critically acclaimed first album Aion of Drakon took the band to numerous major festivals including Roadburn, Hell’s pleasure and Heavy Days in Doomtown as well as on both European and North American tours.
"The strong occult and dark magical backbone is more prevalent than ever, and as a band that actually started before the current occult trend appeared, and considering that mastermind Tommie Eriksson is both a published writer and well known practitioner and lecture holder on the magical and occult arts, this will be a record that stands out from the tepid repetition of 70s clichés.
"The album is to be named 'To The Other' to signify that it is a gift from the band to both the Other Side, and to all that is in the shadows, in the other side of existence, that which has been neglected by the everyday world of light. US drummer Tim Call (Aldebaran, Howling Wind, Nightfell etc) brings his experience and power to the band on this recording.
"The album will be released by Listenable Records in Europe, and The Ajna Offensive in the U.S. The album will be mixed and mastered by Michael Zech (Triptykon, The Ruins Of Beverast)."

Swedish melodic death metal act Gormathon released a music video for the new track "Land of the Lost." The song appears on the upcoming new release "Follow the Beast," the sophomore full length release due out via Napalm Records on the following release schedule:
September 24th: NOR/SWE
September 26th: G/A/S, FIN & BENELUX
September 29th: UK & EUROPE
October 7th: US/CAN
Gormathon describes the music as "melodic death metal and thrash with influences from modern Heavy Metal to inspirations of old Metal heroes from the eighties." "We all have different backgrounds and influences. Presumably this is the main reason why our music sounds a bit different than the usual Metal styles" explains guitarist Stefan Jonsson. "We had very clear ideas about how GORMATHON should sound. We knew exactly what the Metal scene is missing nowadays. We had to get it only from our minds to our instruments. I think our new record will prove that we have successfully implemented our project."
The band continues a tradition of fine metal bands coming from the small Swedish town of Bollnäs. Jonsson explains what is going on with this fabled city itself: "Here’s nothing going on. That’s why we are so devoted to the Heavy Metal. But when you leave our boring town and dare to walk through our dark forests, then you will encounter gnomes, trolls and other beings."

Per Nilsson comments: “I thought to myself... am I allowed to fuse death metal with AOR, and go extreme in both directions? I didn't ask for permission, I just went and did it, and I'm pretty excited to hear what people are gonna think about it.”
Henrik Ohlsson adds: "Limits to Infinity” unveils the malevolent plan of the elite, the hidden hand, and their discoveries regarding the secrets of the universe. The lyric elaborates on the decision makers' long-term plan to merge with machines and colonize other planets."
