Finland-based symphonic metal act Nightwish is proud to announce a newly-inked North American deal for the U.S. and Canada via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
The band’s as-yet-untitled eighth studio album will be the first to feature new Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen, who has toured with the band since October 2012. The album will follow previous release "Imaginaerum" (reviewed here).
Expanding the territory of Nightwish’s initial European collaboration with Nuclear Blast‘s HQ in Germany since 2004’s "Once" album, NBE President and A&R Chief Monte Conner looks forward to the growth of the band’s new line-up and states:
"It was a pleasure to work with Nightwish at my former label, but now in my new capacity at NBE, I will be more directly involved with the band than ever before. I would like to thank Nightwish and their management for their continued faith in and loyalty to me. I am particularly excited at the prospect of hearing Floor Jansen’s debut studio recording with the band. Her performance on last year’s live release Showtime, Storytime completely blew me away and proved why she is the PERFECT singer for Nightwish."
Nighwish’s long-time co-manager Ewo Pohjola of King Foo Entertainment adds the following: "Having Monte Conner now back with Nightwish in North America makes us all really happy. And with Nuclear Blast we have always felt at home since Day One.”
Recordings of the new Nightwish material are slated begin this summer and the band members have already spent time in the wilderness of Hattula, Finland working on new song demos with producer Tero “TeeCee” Kinnumen.
“It’s proven to be a very effective arrangement,” states song composer & keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen. “We have our peace here, in the middle of nature. We can concentrate 24/7.”
“There’s stuff that sounds excellent already and stuff that clearly needs some work still,” adds bassist & vocalist Marco Hietala. “We have such a strong belief in the end result that we know if will work like alchemy: Scheiße [shit] will turn to gold.” More...

Progressive/fusion trio Trioscapes will release a sophomore album on August 19th via Metal Blade Records.
To capture the raw and dynamic mood the band has become accustomed to at live shows, Trioscapes enlisted the expertise of Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC to record "Digital Dream Sequence."
Those studio facilities offered the band the flexibility to track individually, or as an entire band, which was done for certain parts on the album. "Formed in 2002, Valkyrie consists of brothers Jake and Pete Adams (Baroness, Samhain) on guitar and vocals, Alan Fary (Earthling) on bass and Warren Hawkins on drums. Drawing heavily from the classic eras of hard rock and heavy metal, Valkyrie play guitar driven rock n’ roll replete with infectious solos and catchy, powerful vocals. The band has drawn numerous comparisons to greats like Thin Lizzy, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, early Iron Maiden, and Deep Purple.
"The quartet has released two full-lengths along with a series of EPs and singles. Valkyrie recently recorded their first full-length in over 7 years at Earth Analog Studios in Champaign, IL with producer Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Pelican) earlier this month. The eight song album will see an early 2015 release via Relapse."
Guitarist / vocalist Jake Adams commented on the signing and new material: "We are really excited about this new record. Some of these songs we have been working on for many years and we are glad to see them have a proper release on an excellent label. This new record will be a step up in terms of song dynamics and musicianship from the previous albums and we think our fans will dig the fresh approach to the classic Valkyrie sound."

Death/crust outfit Mutilated Veterans has premiered the new track "A Tank Full of Corpses" online - give it a listen at GunShyAssassin.com.
The track hails from the band's debut 12" MLP, "Necro Crust Warhead," set for release tomorrow via Hells Headbangers. The label comments:
"Exactly what its title says, Necro Crust Warhead is a hulking, heaving mass of utter D-beat destruction, galloping like the four horsemen of the apocalypse on the bones of the battlefield's dead. But far from being mere Discharge plagiarists, Mutilated Veterans up-ratchet the D-beat idiom with a molten metallic might that handily trounces even the most 'brutal' death metal band - not surprising here, as erstwhile Machetazo founder Dopi is one of the Mutilated Veterans. The mission of Necro Crust Warhead is absurdly simple: get in, get out, and CRUSH-KILL-DESTROY. This is the future of No Future..."
The album's track listing is as follows:
1. March of the Mutilated (intro)
2. War Funeral
3. Blood Militia
4. A Tank Full of Corpses
5. Triumph of Torture

Vaiya will be releasing a new album titled "Remnant Light" next week via Natural World Records, and today you can hear a track off the release below. Natural World also comments:
"Vaiya's third album 'Remnant Light' is an aggressive ritual banishment of the darkest aspects of the ego. A progression upward toward the light and away from that which drags us down. Told through three thirteen minute tracks, 'Remnant Light' seeks to exalt the journey toward bliss and repel the darkness that aims to destroy true being.
"This album is a more straight forward black metal record than the two previous Vaiya releases, which were written specifically for live ritual performance, thus, there is more emphasis put on dense atmosphere and and layered instrumentation.
"Packaged in a silk screened black envelope with four separate inserts made up of mounted photos on silk screened cards."
The track listing is as follows:
3. Transformation More...

"We are really honoured to be signing In Tormentata Quieteto My Kingdom Music again. After the release of 'Teatroelementale,' we've worked hard for months preparing this new chapter concentrating ourselves on each single detail of this creature.
"I think it's time for In Tormentata Quiete to do the big step towards a more international audience, because 'Cromagia' is not an album like others and we really think that with My Kingdom Music this could happen!"

Magna-influenced French thrashers Rise Of The Northstar have announced the September 22nd release of their debut full-length, "Welcame," on Repression Records. The album's cover art can be seen below as well as the video for the album's title track.
Rise Of The Northstar is a young nu-metal/thrash band whose spirit was born in the back alleys of 1980's Shibuya. Indeed, Japanese culture, mangas and its "Furyos" all blend into ROTNS's sound. Through its lyrics, music and imagery, the band created itself a unique identity, bringing together 90's New York Hardcore, Shonen manga and contemporary metal-core. More...
"Feed the Ego," the sophomore album from Swiss thrashers Algebra, is now streaming in its entirety. The album, which DeadRhetoric.com called 'an enjoyable throwback to a time of anger-soaked thrash,' is streaming below.
Algebra is superficially an unusual moniker for a thrash band, calling to mind mathematical precision and maybe pencil-snapping frustration rather than the blitzkrieg attack of Slayer, et al. But as one absorbs Swiss thrash machine Algebra's music, the name makes increasingly more sense.
Algebra's debut album was self-released in 2012 and reissued by Stormspell Records afterward. Now they will follow that up with their sophomore effort. "Feed The Ego" satiates thrash-hungry listeners with nine aggressively complicated calculations, all mixed and mastered by Andy Classen. Unspeakable Axe Records will release this album on September 2nd. More...
