While Northern German melodic metal band Mob Rules is currently applying the finishing touches to the boxed anniversary set "Timekeeper" - set for release on October 10th (Germany), October 13th (EU) and October 28th (North America) via SPV/Steamhammer Records - the musicians have revealed initial details about this special package which consists of two CDs, a single and a live DVD.
CD 1 has Mob Rules presenting the 15 most important songs from the previous eight releases, among them classics such as 'Black Rain', 'Hollowed Be Thy Name', 'Astral Hand', 'Rain Song' (Live) and 'Cannibal Nation'.
CD 2 is the fulfillment of the band members' longstanding dream: "We've always wanted to invite guests to the studio who have been important to us and our development and who have become friends," explains drummer Nikolas Fritz, referring to a long list of renowned musicians who have contributed to Timekeeper, among them Udo Dirkschneider (U.D.O.), Bernhard Weiß & Marco Wriedt (both Axxis), Amanda Somerville & Sascha Paeth (both Avantasia), Peavy Wagner (Rage), Michael Ehré (Gamma Ray), Herman Frank (Accept), Corvin Bahn (Uli Jon Roth, Saxon), Herbie Langhans (Sinbreed, Seventh Avenue), Stefan Lill (Vanden Plas) Chitral Somapala (ex-Firewind, Red Circuit) and Peter Knorn (Victory). Timekeeper is rounded off by a DVD featuring recordings from the 2011 Mob Rules performance at the Prog Power US festival in Atlanta/USA plus extensive bonus material. Nikolas Fritz: "Our fans kept asking about those film recordings, that's why we have now had the material cut and its sound mixed. A great souvenir, also for ourselves." More...
Following a near month-long run of live debauchery on this year's edition of the Summer Slaughter tour, today New Orleans' metal horde Goatwhore kicks off a short bout of headlining takeovers through Pittsburgh, Newport, and Poughkeepsie before making a special appearance at the Gwar B-Q on August 16th.
The band will take a short break before going roadbound again in September supporting death rock/horror punk icons Samhain on select dates. Cvlt Nation is currently punishing the masses with a double-dose of distressing no-wave industrial mayhem courtesy of Pig Heart Transplant (the solo project of Iron Lung's Jon Kortland).
The two tracks streaming below are culled from his second full-length, "For Mass Consumption," which is nearing release this September 2nd via 20 Buck Spin and the band's own Iron Lung Records.
The albums' second and third tracks "Film" and "Gift" offer just enough of the album's surreal, noise-infiltrated, nightmare soundtrack characteristics to send most normal humans straight to the bomb shelter or panic room, but for the more adventurous listeners, these two tracks will serve as bait, and draw them into the madness of "For Mass Consumption" like flies to the fire. In Flames frontman Anders Fridén added, "I met [Opeth guitarist] Mikael [Akerfeldt] for the first time in 1998 during the recording of Opeth's album ‘My Arms, Your Hearse.’ I was working in the studio and we've been friends ever since. Cleveland metal band Affiance is gearing up to release "Blackout" on September 23rd, 2014 via Bullet Tooth. Singer Dennis Tvrdik commented:
"We are still a relatively small band in a very big metal world and we hope to change that with this album. Blackout is a bit darker than our previous albums, and I think it’s time for heavy music with melodies to make its presence known in American metal culture. I am proud to be a part of that."

All the catchy guitar licks, crushing breakdowns, shredding solos, and memorable high notes that Dennis is so well known for. These are some of the best songs we've ever written. This has been a great year for metal. 'Blackout' will be no exception."

This Fall will see Outre's full-length debut album "Ghost Chants" emerging through Third Eye Temple, in cooperation with Essential Purification Records and Godz Ov War Productions.
The cover artwork was created by Robert A. Von Ritter and can be seen below. The following press release was also issued:
"This time Outre will stray from the path paved by previous output, the EP and a split with Thaw, in favor of more aggressive yet compact forms. Ghost Chants contains mighty slab of what can be called modern Black Metal in vein of Deathspell Omega, Blut Aus Nord or Omega Massif. Ghost Chants will appear as a regular CD as well as vinyl LP. Official release date will be confirmed in the first half of September.
"Still it is not the end of the revelations to come. The dawn of next year will bring split output shared by Outre and Entropia, containing exclusively premiere material. It will be by all means exceptional, but the details will be revealed in an appropriate moment…" More...

Bay Area tech-death outfit Rings Of Saturn has unveiled the initial single from upcoming third full-length album, "Lugal Ki En," through a conceptual 3-D video for the album's opening track, "Senseless Massacre." Check it out below, thanks to Metal Injection.
The newly constructed "Senseless Massacre" video was directed and edited by Alex T. Reinhard and shot and produced by Brooke Brennan, both of Brutal Productions, and features visual effects courtesy of Harsh Wayne Enterprises.
The video was also constructed with 3-D viewing enabled via Youtube player settings, though 3-D glasses are required to delve into the other dimension full-on. Comments founding guitarist Lucas Mann of the track:
"'Senseless Massacre' is the first debut single off of Rings Of Saturn's new album, Lugal Ki En, on Unique Leader Records. The music video depicts the band as aliens (full-black eyes) performing on alien-like instruments (Etherial Guitars) with their vocalist, Ian Bearer, being abducted and tortured in extraterrestrial machinery. After being tortured and experimented on, his blood turns blue at the end of the video showing that he has transformed and is no longer human. This conveys the idea that aliens could already be living along side us without the general population being aware of it."
"Lugal Ki En" will see worldwide impact via Unique Leader Records this October, in North America on the 14th and in Europe on the 17th. More...
Invictus Productions will unleash the second demo of Obscure Burial, titled "Epiphany," which is set for international release on September 15th on cassette tape. The label comments:
"Hailing from the fertile Finnish black metal scene and featuring a couple native veterans, Obscure Burial are fittingly named: the quartet unloads an arsenal of ancient black/death magick, drawing influence from the fuck-off-forever sounds of Necrovore, Profanatica, Sadistic Intent, and early Possessed, piling on miles of filth and obscurity atop.
"As such, the title Epiphany is also fitting, as this four-song demo reveals a young band hungry for the olden ways and rabidly committed to putting their own personal spin on it. And song titles like 'Night Queen' and 'Demonic Incantation' should say more than enough - revel in Obscure Burial's Epiphany!"
1. Night Queen
2. Dweller In The Abyss
3. Daemonic Incantation

Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes, Theatre Of Tragedy) is returning with a fifth solo album to be titled "Vervain."

"Fall 2014 is going to be place of a tour, which has never been previously given: Liv Kristine will go on an extensive tour together with Kari Ruslåtten and Anneke van Giersbergen! 'The Sirens in concert 2014' will be presented by Orkus & take place in mid-October and December 2014!" More...

Winnipeg, MB death/doom metal band Psychotic Gardening has unleashed a very dark music video for the track "Searing Cital," taken from latest album "Hymnosis" (reviewed here), which the band is touring Ontario and Quebec in support of from August 14th to August 24th.
Guitarist Andrew Wiens comments: "This video came together spontaneously - we came across this really creepy scene on our way out to Farmageddon in Alberta earlier this year. There were these dead trees decorated with skulls, it was a just this strange place in a farmer's field. It was seemingly there to worship death.
"I had to get out with my camera to shoot as much of it as possible. We felt like we were pushing to get anything at all and that a crazy murderous freak would come out at any moment to add our own skulls to the trees. We ended up shooting a storyline that tells the story of what we saw there and what it could mean. And of course we did it to the doom-iest of all the songs on the new album, Searing Cital." More...
