Diablo Swing Orchestra Parts With Vocalist
Diablo Swing Orchestra has issued the following announcement about parting ways with vocalist Annlouice Loegdlund:
"Aside from our wondrous experiences while writing, recording, rehearsing and touring during the last few years, one of our main concerns has been that AnnLouice's own opera career exceedingly has taken up more and more of her time. Hence, our long gaps between shows, and problems planning our operation as a band in general.
"Unfortunately, this fact has eventually led to AnnLouice leaving Diablo Swing Orchestra to pursue her own career to the fullest. As dear friends first, and a band second, we also separate as such.
"That being said, we're indeed glad for her success and wish her a thrilling venture like none other! Also — Our mutual thankfulness for the last decade of unison musical creativity as the orchestra we've grown into, sure shines through our creations; and always did, through thick and thin.
"As you sense by now, here comes the conjunction 'but.' Of course the matter at hand has meant that we somehow had to find a proper solution to continue doing what we simply love so much — creating and performing music as a group. 'Solution' is a poor word of choice really, as no words actually capture what we're trying to convey here, ten years in (!), but yes — conclusively we have now found a main vocalist replacement.
"A 'solution' that provides the band with an all new gusto, and which is taking Diablo Swing in prestine directions. Diablo Swing Orchestra finally materializes a new phase, featuring new mojo, delight and energy! Enter Kristin Evegård. And you won't have to wait long to hear her, as we're recording a new single as we speak, with a planned release in late October.
"Yes, we hear you say, 'less talk, more mojo,' so without any further ado: Presenting the new Diablo Swing Orchestra with Kristin Evegård." More...

Sunday Old School: Pentagram Chile
The power of the metal underground can be a truly astounding thing. At times, it can give a band worldwide exposure and a large following even if they haven’t actually released a full length album. One of the best known examples of this would be Switzerland’s, Hellhammer, which of course evolved into Celtic Frost, but another band which would influence countless metal listeners was a group from Chile, who shared their name with an American group that also didn’t release an album until well into their career, a band named, Pentagram. Pentagram, or Pentagram Chile as they now go by, were formed in the Chilean capital city of Santiago in 1985 by singing guitarist, Anton Reisenegger and another guitar player named, Juan Pablo "Azazel" Uribe. They were strongly inspired by the more extreme end of the thrash spectrum and early death metal bands such Possessed, Kreator and Venom.
After recruiting drummer Eduardo Topelberg from a group named Chronos, the trio began working on their musicianship a little more seriously and eventually recorded their first demo, entitled appropriately enough, "Demo 1." Reisenegger handled bass duties for the record and the band began sending out copies all over the world. Two of the people who got a hold of the demo was the Cavalera brothers, Max and Igor, known of course as the founding members of Brazil’s most famous metal band, Sepultura, who at the time had just released their debut album, "Morbid Visions." They struck up a friendship with the two and there was reportedly intention for Max Cavalera and Anton Reisenegger to record an album together, though to date, this has not happened. More...
