TesseracT will be returning to North America for two upcoming tours. First the band will hit the road with Katatonia, Cult of Luna, and Intronaut. That tour begins September 23rd in Boston, MA and runs through October 7th in San Francisco, CA.
Immediately following the dates with Katatonia, TesseracT has announced a headline tour with support being provided by Scale the Summit and Anciients. These shows kick off October 9th in Vancouver and are currently set to wrap on October 27th in Greensboro, NC. More dates may be added in the coming weeks.
The band commented on returning to this side of the pond:
"North America! We're coming back. And for not 1, but 2 tours back to back. We've all been missing Cracker Barrel, and Timmy Ho's, so it's with great pleasure that we can announce that we will be touring your fair lands again. Ever since the first tour we did with DTP way back when Ashe was called Dan, you guys have always been so cool to us. A lot has changed since then, and we can't wait to show you what we've been showing the Europeans for the past year. Firstly we'll be on tour with Katatonia, Cult of Luna, and Intronaut, as part of the Uncrowned and Vertikal tour. This will be an intense evening of dark powerful prog. It's so cool to be apart of this bill as all 4 bands create a completely different yet compatible atmosphere.
"Then we'll start the Altered State tour, where we'll have support from Scale The Summit and Anciients. Two bands that stretch progressive music to its limits. All of this is great, but you know the best bit...French Toast. Everyday for 5 weeks. Maple Syrup. Bacon. TubberacT."
TesseracT's latest release "Altered State" (reviewed here) came out earlier this year on Century Media Records. For a taste of the album, check out the naughty tentacle action in the music video for "Singularity" at this location. More...
As was announced yesterday, In Solitude will be returning to North America this Fall with Watain and Tribulation.
This will be In Solitude's first North American tour since the Decibel Magazine tour in 2012, which also happened to feature Watain. The tour runs from October 8th through November 3rd and will be in support of the upcoming album "Sister."
The album is set for release to coincide with the dates and In Solitude fans will be able to find new music streaming online within the next few weeks. Updates, including new music, album art, and pre-order bundles, will be posted as they are made available.
In Solitude vocalist Pelle Ahman comments: "We are tremendously enthusiastic to announce that In Solitude are coming back to America and Canada in October. We are especially delighted to do this in the company of our great companions of Watain and Tribulation. It is our great pleasure to take part in this grand malady. We can't wait to arrive and let it steal another sky from our eyes. See you in October." More...
God of Atheists is the new project from Asgeir Mickelson, which also features Ihsahn, ICS Vortex, Vibeke Stene, and more.
The project's coming debut album was voted our most anticipated release of 2013, although it was later revealed the album won't be available until 2014.
Asgier Mickelson has now checked in with the following update about writing lyrics for the songs as the recording progresses:
"Here's a quick status: The project is moving slowly during the summer months. It's been hard to write (good enough) lyrics for the last two songs, but I think I'm almost done with one of them now.
"This is 'Song no. 5' which was originally called 'I Am God,' but I scrapped it and started all over, so now it has a new title (which is not 100 % set yet). This song has a 2.5 minute slow death/doom melodic 'intro' before it takes off into 260 bpm blast beat brutality with grim vocals."

Guitarist Tom Weaver from Continents has checked in with the following announcement about missing upcoming tour dates:
"So, after about 3 hours in A&E it turns out that I've fractured my eye socket in 3 places and have a concussion. I've got to remain under observation in the hospital for 2 days before they decide if I need surgery or not. Unfortunately all of this does mean that I won't be able to continue the tour.
"However, our guitar tech Rhys has kindly offered to step in and fill my shoes for the rest of the tour, so we're not cancelling any appearances, and we're definitely not slowing down.
"The guys need your support now more than ever, if you can get to a show then please, please go and hang out. I'm gonna go home and fix my broken face, Continents will continue to break faces across Europe. The show must go on."
Alex Fewell and Brian Frechette from the Boston death metal band Forced Asphyxiation recently sat down with the Neckbreaker Podcast this week for a full-length interview and drinking session.
They gave Neckbreaker their future recording plans, shared some touring stories, drank a ton of beers, and discussed the latest heavy metal and pro wrestling headlines. The free, full-length episode is available for download via iTunes, Stitcher Radio, or at the podcast's website here.
Neckbreaker is a free, heavy metal and pro wrestling themed podcast. Hosts Brian Thompson and John Aubrey sit down with guests from both worlds, drink a bunch of alcohol, and have friendly, at-length discussions. New episodes premiere every two weeks.
Obituary is now tracking a new album, and the band launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the recording process.
The campaign reached its funding goal in a single day, but fans can still contribute as stretch goals have been added, including a documentary of the band's time in the studio. Obituary also comments:
"The immediate and overwhelming response has been absolutely unbelievable. We truly have the best fans in the world and thank you guys so much for getting us to our initial goal. Your response and support has us more determined than ever to make it to our ultimate goal which is releasing this album totally under our own control.
"This is not a campaign against the machine, or a bash on record companies. This is just one band's dream...after 25 years of music, to do it our way. Let's get this done!!!" More...
Motorhead played a shortened set at this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, and front man Lemmy has recently been going through health issues that caused the cancellation of several shows.
Now the organizers of the Wacken festival have issued the following statement about the performance:
"Motörhead rocked the Black Stage for more than 30 minutes and Lemmy gave everything he´s got to play an amazing live show.
"He's keeping well - but the temperatures and circumstances lead to the point that continuing the show would have lead to a loss of quality.
"We are very happy and proud that Phil, Mikkey, and particularly Mr. Rock n Roll himself, Lemmy Kilmister, played W:O:A 2013 and that they did everything humanly possible to play this gig. Thank you so much, guys!"
Dublin's Atominated has checked in with the following announcement about finishing the writing process for an upcoming album release:
"Hold on to your panties thrashers and thrashettes! The Atominated album is currently on the way!
"The album is fully written, and we are finalizing each song down to each note to make sure they are perfect!
"As soon as we raise the last bit of money, we will be entering the studio to record straight away! Not long to go now!"

Wizard recently announced the new album "Trail Of Death" will be released on September 27th, 2013 via Massacre Records. After it was revealed the lyrical content would shift on this album, the band's drummer Snoppi posted the following message online via Facebook:
"Perhaps some people ask themselves why Wizard is doing an album about death and not about northern mythology or fantasy like on the past nine albums.
"I want to try to explain it in a few words. This is the first time I wrote the (most) lyrics for a Wizard album. For over ten years now I have to think about my death and death in general (no, I am not ill or anything like this). I don't want to, but the feeling is there, somehow. And to be honest, it scares me a lot.
"To think that the moment will come where you really face your last minute on earth is not a very great one I am looking forward to. So how can someone ease this feeling? Perhaps religion? Or just (try to) ignore it? Very difficult and I really don't have an answer for it. It would be fantastic if there would be an afterlife, but we cannot be sure.
"So I tried to write things down in the lyrics to show different views of death. Some have an intention, others are meant in a more funny way. I hope that you can respect these very personal feelings and perhaps one or two people are inspired to think about this theme.
"Death is not 'cool' for me and the theme was never meant to handle about because death fits so good to heavy metal (you know, death metal etc., the more brutal the cooler it is).
"If there is anybody more interested in the lyrics or has questions about it, you can of course ask me and start a conversation. Metal to the end!" More...
Ramming Speed has posted a shopping spree video online, which can be found below, and Prosthetic Records also commented on the event:
"In a time when it seems like most bands are asking for money, Boston-based grinders Ramming Speed decided to do the opposite and give it away.
"During their successful tour supporting Valient Thorr and Gypsyhawk earlier this summer, the group stopped at various independent record stores along the tour trail to give lucky fans the chance to win filmed $100 shopping sprees with the band at their side helping them pick the best albums (including, of course, Ramming Speed’s new album 'Doomed To Destroy, Destined to Die').
"We compiled footage from each event, so watch as the band and the winners race the clock to get the best bang for their buck." More...
