"R.I.P. Bill Hicks is about letting go of something that is wrong for you, even if the act of letting go, the decision to let go, and everything leading up to that decision is hard. Comfort and familiarity are nice, but allowing those feelings to steer your life treads dangerously close to living in fear. Our days are precious and few and we must decide what is worth our time."

Dave Blass Comments On Accept Video Shoot

Accept will release new studio album "Blind Rage" on August 15th and last week the band revealed the video clip for the "Stampede" single, which can be seen below.

Now the video's director Dave Blass, an Emmy nominated production designer and director, reports from the shooting:

“It’s 4 in the morning and I am in a van with one of the hottest metal bands in the world Accept. But right now, they are one of the coldest metal bands in the world because it’s -¬-7 degrees out and we had to rush back into the van to warm up. It was so cold that they couldn’t hold their guitar pics, and the rocky peaks they were climbing over still had a slick layer of ice on them. When we scouted the location 3 weeks ago it was a nice toasty 33 and we were worried that they were going to roast in the sun. We would all love that heat right about now.

"This is the third video that my team and I have done with Accept going back to 'Teutonic Terror'. Wolf Hoffmann and I had met years before their reunion and I had told him that if they ever wanted to do a video that we should get together. With 'Teutonic Terror' we wanted to go with a Classic Metal video. No story, no visual effects, just the band with brand new lead singer Mark Tornillo, some fire and Wolf doing his guitar solo up on a tank. I wanted to keep it about the music, but with some iconic imagery which is why we closed the video on the twin burning flying V guitars that was a call back to the »Restless And Wild« album. Next we tried to shake it up with 'Pandemic', which we shot the morning after the 14 hour 'Teutonic Terror' shoot.

"The band was about to embark on a massive worldwide tour, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to get them for another shoot. We had no concept for the video when we shot it, we just did a clean capture of the individual band members on Green Screen, and knew we could do a wide variety of things. I didn’t want to do the standard deal of putting the band on a virtual set that looks like a cheap video game, so we later came up with the concept to make the video look like you were reading a graphic novel, which wasn’t something that had been done before.

"The overall theme of the Accept videos have always been about the band and the music. No matter how many shows the band does, there are fans all around the world who never get a chance to see them perform, and these videos fill that void. Even so, you still have to mix it up a bit. Even tanks and fire get boring after a bit. So here we are, freezing our asses off in the high desert of California at the Devil’s Punchbowl, a rock formation that looks like it’s from another world. It is actually. It’s right around the corner from where Captain Kirk fought the guy in the green lizard suit in the old Star Trek TV series. More...

Upon A Burning Body Claims Vocalist Is Missing

Update: Ash Avildsen from Sumerian Records has now posted this message online via Facebook:

"I woke up to a ton of missed calls and just saw all this stuff about Danny Leal of UABB posing as that he's been abducted or kidnapped. My phone hasn't stopped ringing since. As a child, we all learn the story 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' and it sticks within our consciousness for a reason. I do not condone this type of publicity stunt. This was done behind my back and I am not OK with it. In my eyes, there's never a time to use the possibility of real-life abduction, injury or murder of someone you care about to promote anything, especially an album. If you need to resort to that, then you have lost the plot. We as a society should have evolved past that way of thinking by now and especially within the rock/metal community, given all the tragedy that has happened in our world over the past few years. There are some people who owe us an apology."

Upon A Burning Body's Facebook page was updated with the following brief message earlier today:

"Breaking News: Danny Leal (singer of Upon A Burning Body) has been reported missing. He was last seen in his home town of San Antonio TX on Monday, June 30th."

It seems likely this is all a hoax to announce some upcoming activity, based on the only two posts from Danny Leal's personal Facebook page over the last several days (available below), and we'll check back in with more info as it becomes available. The band is due to kick off the Mayhem festival tour on July 5th.

Godhunter Posts Tour Diary

Having just completed a co-headlining tour of the lower southwestern realms of America together, Oakland's Secrets Of The Sky and Tucson's Godhunter have released a post-tour account of their journey together, documenting some of the pros, cons, and random insanity two independent acts sometimes encounter on such a venture.

Read the new tour blog over at tour sponsor American Aftermath's website.

On the recent Southwest U.S. trek, the bands were mongering a limited-to-100 copies, tour-only, cassette-edition of a new split release between both acts. On this combined effort, entitled
"Ghosts," both bands supply brand new material, showcasing even further experimentation into each of their respective crafts, with forty minutes of material, including a crushing new opus from each band, as well as a haunting, thematic accompaniment bearing the "Ghosts" theme.

Through a joint effort between Godhunter's Battleground Records and The Compound, "Ghosts" will see a more substantial release on September 9th through a deluxe LP version. The track listing is as follows: More...

Aeon Zen Recruits Session Vocalist For Festival

Aeon Zen has issued the following announcement about bringing on a session member as vocalist Andi Kravljaca will not be appearing at an upcoming festival:

"For our upcoming performance at the UK Tech-Metal Fest, we will be joined onstage by the wonderfully talented Tamás Csemez on vocals, as our singer Andi is unfortunately unable to make it over to sunny England for the festival. Andi also comments: "Every once in a while the music business proves it is a cruel mistress - and as dire chance would have it, this is one of those times. Due to reasons completely out of my control, I sadly won't be able to make Aeon Zen's performance at TechFest, which pains me immeasurably.

"Nevertheless, ever vigilant, the band have managed to find a gem of a singer for this one off occasion, a certain Mr. Tamás Czemez, and believe you me when I say that this man sounds - in a word - amazing. I have full faith that he will deliver an awesome performance, and that our fans will rally behind him and show him the same love and faith I've enjoyed for years. Until next time!!" More...
