The Louisiana metal miscreants in Goatwhore will celebrate the release of their mammoth "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless" full-length (out today) with a meet and greet next week at the Grill 'Em All restaurant in Alhambra, California.
The event will commence at 7:00 pm on Wednesday July 16th. Fans will get to hang with the band, hear the record in full, as well as purchase a copy if they haven't already.
Additionally, Grill 'Em All will add to the unholy revelry with special "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless" fries - hand cut fries smothered in creole gumbo with chicken, smoked sausage, and shrimp! Come hungry.
On the following day in San Francisco, Goatwhore will kick off a near month-long stretch of live incursions as part of The Summer Slaughter tour alongside Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Fallujah and more.
Vocalist Stu from U.K. hardcore outfit No Second Chance has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band:
"Its with an incredibly heavy heart that I am announcing that I will no longer be a part of No Second chance. This is by far one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make but I feel now is the time for me to move on and focus on parts of my personal life I have neglected recently.
"There is no bad blood between me and the guys at all and they have respected my decision. The last 2 and a bit years in this band have been some of the best times and the memories I have will not be forgotten any time soon. I wanna say a big thanks to everyone that made me feel welcome when taking over from Owen your support never went unnoticed.
"To the other 4 guys in this band I want to say thanks for taking the chance with me and letting me do things I never thought I would do in a band. This is not the end of NSC just the end of my chapter. My last show will be Essexfest on the 2nd of Aug. Be there and lets party."
The band also commented on Stu's departure: "There's no big story, no huge break up and no arguments - Just a guy that wants to put his life on track and being committed to a band is not helping him to do so. Stu has been a legend since joining and we'll miss him on the road and the stage, he will remain one of our best friends and part of our family regardless.
"So, what's next? We're not done yet and aim to play as many of the dates we have booked as we can do and are now busy working out some things to enable us to do this so watch this space. We'll be talking with any promoters booking us over the next few days." More...
The live show is the heart of the metal scene, and both fans and musicians from across the globe have their share of epic stories from the mosh pit.
From amorous couples who can't be bothered to wait until getting home, to bursts of violence, and on to booze-addled shenanigans, the pit has been the site of just about every crazy scenario imaginable.
This week King Of Asgard guitarist Lars G. Tängmark shares this story of trying to see a Paradise Lost show but botching the whole affair from the beginning when he runs into his old friend Jagermeister:
This was the cold winter of 1992 and Paradise Lost was going to play Norrköping. It was probably one of the many brilliant club nights held under the "Trash Bash" flag in the early 90's where international metal celebrities could be enjoyed on a small stage, in small town, on a regular basis. All this less then hour by train away from the even smaller town where I lived and rehearsed with countless obscure musical projects (nothing has changed today BTW).
At the time I was in habit of being absolutely pissed before even leaving home on a Friday night, but on this particular day I made an exception and didn't start pouring Jagermeister down my throat until I got on the train. Had I made an estimation (which I was NOT in the habit of making) I should have understood that the show was still three hours away and I would have to pour the Jager really, really slowly to even be conscious at the time of the show. Did I mention that I looked really good too? I didn't really have the "metal" look going at the time, probably because of some kind of constant identity crisis, so I my hair was semi-long and part at the middle. I had decided for some type of normal clothing, but since I was in "experimental" mode when leaving the house I opted for a huge darth-vader black trenchcoat that looked more weird-granny than Edward Scissordhands. Burden Of Grief is gearing up to release new album "Unchained" on July 18th via Massacre Records.
The band's guitarist Philipp Hanfland was now released a track-by-track breakdown for the first six songs off the album. See what he had to say below:
1. Awaken The Nightmare: It was clear that this song will be the album's opener due to its concise first few seconds. Out of all songs off the album, "Awaken The Nightmare" is the only song I'm not able to put a label on, musically speaking. I'm also not able to compare it to other bands, which isn't a bad thing at all in the end, don't you think?
2. Unchained: One of the first songs we've written for the album and one of the strong ones as well. That's why we decided pretty early that this one's going to be the title track. Our drummer Robb came up with the song's basic structure and Joe refined the riffs. A pretty unusual way to write a song, I know, but it wasn't the first time we did it this way.
After escaping charges last year for allegedly attempting to incite a massacre, Varg Vikernes has now been sentenced for inciting racial hatred in France.
TheLocal.no reports Vikernes has been fined the equivalent of ten thousand dollars and given a suspended prison sentence. Excerpts from the article are available below.
Video from outside the courtroom at the start of the trial several days ago can also be seen after the jump, courtesy of Ruptly TV.
A French court Tuesday slapped a six-month suspended sentence and an €8,000 ($10,000) fine on a Norwegian heavy metal musician accused of inciting racial hatred in his blogs. Kristian Vikernes, 41, was not present in court and neither was his lawyer as the verdict was delivered. He has denied posting racist blogs and said they were written by someone else.
Vikernes was arrested in July last year in France's central Correze region on suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks but was released after 48 hours due to lack of evidence. He was however charged with inciting racial hatred and defending war crimes on his blog. Police allegedly found racist and anti-Semitic material on his computer as well.
Vikernes had told the court he was not the author of the blogs and said a possible misunderstanding could have arisen because he communicated through a Danish interpreter when he was briefly held in custody last year. Ten excerpts from the blogs written between March and June 2013 that attack Muslims and Jews were presented as evidence in court.

The mystical black metallers in Taatsi today reveal a teaser video for forthcoming debut album, "Amidst the Trees," which is set for international release on July 25th via Forever Plagued Records.
Set to be released on CD format, "Amidst the Trees" marks Taatsi's debut album, not long after the Finns' "Season of Sacrifice" demo was unleashed by Forever Plagued earlier this year.
The duo of A. and M. have both been involved within their respected black metal scenes since the mid '90s in one form or another. The members of Taatsi strongly feel that they must convey the old sound despite the many new forms that have imbued the genre today. The lyrics and overall theme of Taatsi deal with the majesty of nature as well as Scandinavian folklore and fairy tales, all with a deeper psychological twist: the relationship of man with the woods. The name Taatsi itself comes from a sacrificial stone located in northern Finland.
The album's track listing is as follow:
1. Malign Ghost Of The Woods
2. A Moonlight Journey Through The Midwinter Fores
3. Gateways Of The North
4. Beneath The Hills They Sing
