Resurgency Signs To FDA Rekotz

After the 2012 debut "False Enlightenment," Greek death metal tank Resurgency have inked a deal with FDA Rekotz for the release of the band's sophomore slab of brutality.

Formed in Athens in August 2009 by Necrovorous members Tolis B (bass) and George K. (guitar), along with Mechblastess (drums), John P. (vocals) and George N. (guitar), Resurgency also had early lineup changes seeing Necrovorous/Embrace Of Thorns dummer Vagelis F. join the fold prior to recording the "Dark Revival" demo in July 2010.

In 2011, the band had a split CD release via Hellthrasher Productions, and returned to the label the following year for their debut full-length, "False Enlightenment." Check out "Ending the Beginning" off of that release at this location.

Zodiac Unveils "Sonic Child" Artwork

The German rockers in Zodiac will issue new album "Sonic Child" in North America on September 30th via Prosthetic.

The follow-up to 2013's “A Hiding Place” (named “album of the month” by Rock Hard late last year) was once again recorded at Megaphon Tonstudios with producer Martin Meinschafer. A new song will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

For now, the band has revealed the album’s enticing cover art by Sebastian Jerke (Audrey Horne, Long Distance Calling), seen below. The band commented, “The idea behind it is actually very simple: As a child, you hear music in its purest form. You do this without caring about a certain image, without looking at the band pictures, without thinking about fancy clothes or any other parameters; you just listen to the music and create your own vision of it. Nowadays, it seems for many bands that music isn’t the most important element anymore. That’s why we wrote a concept album about the love for music in general. It is our ‘Sonic Child,’ and we hope you’ll cherish it as much as we do. And with such a talented artist as Sebastian Jerke, we managed to find the perfect partner to visualize our thoughts. Here we go!”

Hal Patino Fired From King Diamond

King Diamond, who recently announced a North American Tour for this fall (the first full fledged tour since his triple bypass surgery over three years ago), has fired long time bassist Hal Patino.

In an announcement on Facebook, King stated: "Hal Patino has been relieved of his duties with King Diamond, for reasons very similar to why he was fired from the band in 1990. This will have NO negative impact on our upcoming shows whatsoever. On the contrary."

Patino is expected to make a statement on the situation later today via Facebook, where his latest post reads: "Hal Patino Leaves King Diamond! An official statement will be announced later today on why I've decided to leave the King Diamond band."

King Diamond is currently working on a new album, the first in seven years (2007's "Give Me Your Soul....Please"). The album is slated for release sometime in 2015, as King will await the building of his home studio in order to start recording.

The North American tour is set to commence on October 11th in Atlanta. More...
