This week it's a return by everyone's favorite Internet search phrase: Vietcong Pornsurfers. The Vietcong Pornsurfers are Tom K (vocals), Teddy (guitar), Affe (bass), and Rackarn (drums). They play what they refer to as “dangerous punk rock” and exist to make up for the lack of true cool punk rock bands. They are from Falcun, Sweden. This is where they recorded multiple demo discs and their latest album, “We Spread Diseases.” The single “Diseases” will kick off a two-month long tour through Europe, in their tour bus armed with deadly shark teeth. (True story.)
The band applies their musically “stripped down” approach to the “Diseases” video; in fact, the band is literally down to their skivvies. Also, note that the song is only 2:30 in length. I appreciate songs that are quick to the punch, make their point, and leave you wanting more. Sorry “Free Bird” fans, I just don’t have the time. Warning: Crotch shot at 0:49.
So the band is under observation in this video. Any ideas why? My first assumption is to find the methodology behind the name of the band. I mean, if there was ever a band name to not Google at work... (Note Rackarn’s cross necklace, you don’t see this as often on rock stars. It’s a nice touch.) My second assumption is that the results of the study are inconclusive, because most tests are inconclusive...

Italian death metal quartet Hour of Penance has announced the band's first-ever Australian tour dates, which will see the group supporting Behemoth. The tour will kick off in late October following a European tour with Psycroptic and Dyscarnate. The full routing for both tours can be found below.
Lead guitarist Giulio Moschini stated, “We’re very happy to announce that we will tour Australia for the first time, and we will do that by opening for one of the greatest bands around…Behemoth! We couldn’t be happier to end the ‘Sedition’ touring cycle by touring with such a great band! See you on the road!”
The band has recently been writing material for a new album. Says Moschini, “The works for the follow-up of ‘Sedition’ are almost done and we will enter the studio in October, right after the Australian tour. Can’t wait!”
Fellow guitarist Paolo Pieri added, “The new material sounds totally fresh and will be a bone-crushing feast for old and new fans of Hour of Penance.”
The upcoming album is expected out in early 2014. Catch the band live: More...

According to a press release, the album "continues to carry Beaten to Death’s incredibly irreverent edge, boasting a twisted blend of quirky, but captivating melodies with some abrasive and cranium-smashing brutality."
There's no editing, no quantizing, no triggering, no overdubs, no repitching, no retuning, no nothing. It’s all genuinely and 100% recorded live. “Dødsfest!” will be available as 12” LP featuring the full debut album on side B. Check out the full track listing and album cover below:

Italy's Vision Divine is streaming an unreleased demo track entitled "Child Of Tomorrow." The song was recorded in the pre-production stage for the latest LP "Destination Set to Nowhere" (see review over here). It was dropped from the list of tracks that eventually would make up the release.
When asked by Metal Underground.com whether the song would be reworked an used as a track for the next Vision Divine album, guitarist/songwriter Olaf Thörsen explained: "The fact is that it's really hard to rework a song and make it fit into another album, which will surely have other atmospheres and 'colours.' Back then, we found this song too 'progressive' in the verse and too long in the solo break. We should have cut something and made the verse a bit more straight, especially in terms of the vocal line, but that's when we eventually came up writing 'The Lighthouse' (which was supposed just to add some variations to this song, but ended to be a complete new one) and we chose that one. We will see, but maybe once we enter the studios again we could at least simply re-record it and give it a shiny bombastic sound, then release it as a bonus track."

The record was produced by Terry Date (Pantera, Deftones, Soundgarden) and will also be the first to feature Max Cavalera's 20-year-old son Zyon on drums.
As if there was a more metal way to come into the world, Zyon’s heartbeat in utero served as the intro to Sepultura’s 1993 classic RIAA-gold-certified record "Chaos A.D."

Legendary brazilian act Sepultura has announced the title of the band's forthcoming album: "The Mediator Between the Head and Hands Must be the Heart."
Although being inspired by Fritz Lang's classic 1927 movie “Metropolis,” the release is not set out to be a concept album or a soundtrack like it's precedessors "Dante XXI" (“The Divine Comedy”) and "A-Lex" (“A Clockwork Orange”).
"The Mediator Between the Head and Hands Must be the Heart" was recorded together with sound guru Ross Robinson (who already had worked with the band on the landmark release "Roots" back in 1996).
The album is scheduled for a late October 2013 release via Nuclear Blast. Commented guitarist Andreas Kisser:
"I was inspired by a phrase which is the main message of the story: 'The mediator between the head and hands must be the heart' to express what we are saying on the lyrics. In the movie, a crazy millionaire wants to transform a robot into a real person. That's kind of the opposite of what we live today. More than ever we are robotized, through the worldwide web, Google glasses, chips under our skins and the globalized slavery our society suffers nowadays. The phrase points to the heart as being the human factor who keeps a man, a man, not a robot. The heart beats with freedom of choice, we have to think by ourselves to create a real world, not a matrix. More...
Vocalist Ann Boleyn of California act Hellion has posted the following message online about the death of former bass player Teddy Days:
"More disturbing news is coming out concerning the death of former Hellion bassist, Teddy Days. Teddy's friends first learned of Teddy's death yesterday after an obituary was posted in an on-line newspaper. The obituary stated that Teddy died on July 10, 2013, but no cause of death was listed. Nor was there any explanation for the delay in the reporting of Teddy's death.
"Late last night, someone posted that the cause of death was suicide and that he had been suffering from depression. Initially friends speculated that the timing of Teddy's death, on July 10, 2013, may have had to do Ronnie James Dio's birthday. Others speculated that, since Teddy had been monitoring postings on Facebook via a pseudonym 'Slade Sin,' which was not recognized by most of his friends, that he may have been upset by some posts. None of those theories made any sense to me, and I removed them from my page and Hellion's pages, especially if they blamed other musicians or incidents that happened in the 1980s and 1990s.
"A few moments ago Teddy's long-time friend, Pat 'PK' Kelley posted new information: 'I am so sorry to have to tell you this - On Wednesday July 10th Teddy had a incident with the police. He had been in a serious car accident a few months before and had family problems. He became erratic and extremely depressed. He ended up in a 5 hour stand off with the police brandishing a shotgun. He laid down in his hearse and called it quits. It is unknown at this time if his passing was from the police or by his choice. Please contact any of his friends that you know - he destroyed his phone and I don't really know his LA circle.'
"I am a civil rights attorney and would like to find out the truth of what happened to Teddy Days. If anyone has any information, please contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org."

Montana metal act Onward has signed a licensing deal with Pure Steel Records to remaster and release the band's first two albums "Evermoving" (2001) and "Reawaken" (2002) on vinyl late summer/early fall. The albums featured Crescent Sheild vocalist Michael Grant (Ex-Cypher Seer/Ex-New Eden), who passed away last May.
Onward mastermind Toby Knapp commented on the releases, intended to be a monument to the the fallen singer: "Over a year ago I approached Pure Steel Records about releasing Onward's demo 'The Neverending Sun' on vinyl. Pure Steel had a much better idea; releasing Onward's first two albums 'Evermoving' and 'Reawaken' in limited edition gatefold vinyl, remastered and with completely new artwork. After negotiations began Onward vocalist Michael Grant passed away making these plans take on a more serious level of importance. After a decade since disbanding these re-issues represent the eternal life of music, of Heavy Metal carefully crafted with integrity and the magic of collaboration between those who believe. Many fans who have since discovered Onward's music say 'what happened?where did they go? they were so under-rated.' Our collaboration with Pure Steel records on the re-release of what many consider 'landmark' Heavy Metal albums is proof positive of what Onward conveyed during our years together; 'Evermoving Onward!' onto vinyl sounding better than ever." 'It has been a fantastic ten plus years with Thunderstone: touring, meeting great people and recording killer albums. Now, however, it’s time for me to call it a day and move on to new challenges.
