Yakuza Re-Issuing Back Catalog
Throughout the entire month of July, the Chicago experi-metallers in Yakuza will reissue their first four albums along with one never-before-heard release through War Crime Recordings.
"Amount To Nothing," "Way Of The Dead," "Samsara," and "Transmutations" have been out of print for several years now and in most cases, these reissues will contain unreleased bonus tracks and remixes.
July 1st, 2014 will see the band's 2000 self-released debut album, "Amount To Nothing" and "Way Of The Dead," originally released by Century Media Records in 2002. "Way Of The Dead" will include a cover of John Coltrane's "Seraphic Light" as a bonus track.
On July 15th, 2014, the band will reissue the Prosthetic Records albums: 2006's "Samsara," featuring two bonus tunes -- a James Plotkin (OLD, Scorn, Khanate, Khlyst) remix of "Back To The Mountain" as well as "The Ballad Of Mr. K" -- along with 2007's "Transmutations," which boasts a Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh) remix of "The Blinding." More...
Katagory V Launches Crowd Funding Campaign
After a three-year hiatus, Salt Lake City's power metal act Katabory V has launched an Indiegogo campaign for fifth album, "Resurrect the Insurgence."
Commented bassist/songwriter and founding member Dustin Mitchell: "The rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated, albeit somewhat true just the same. It has been three years since we finished recording the fifth album. Back in 2011, we shared a few previews of the songs with updates concerning the album's release, and then....nothing. This album was slated to be released in the spring of 2012, but, ever so quietly, Katagory V AND the new album just disappeared from existence.
"It is a very long story as to why this happened, and we explain how this three-year hiatus came about in the bio of our Indiegogo campaign. What is important now is that we are proactively trying to get this album released before we die of old age (or untreated syphilis!).
"We put a lot -- and I mean A LOT -- of our own money and time into creating what we feel is the best and most sonically powerful Katagory V album to date. It was a very expensive, long, and painstaking process, yet at the same time, an extremely fun experience and one of the best recording sessions for everyone involved. We certainly feel that it would be a total waste if we just shelved this album without giving it a chance to be released upon the world. We still have two full-length songs from 'Resurrect the Insurgence' available for preview on YouTube: 'Far Too Long' and 'I Am Change.' Feel free to check them out!
"As for the future of Katagory V? Well, a lot has changed over the last three years, both within the band and the music industry, and we are taking it one step at a time. The first step is getting this album out. If we can do that...we shall see about taking the next step." More...

The Danish blackened extremists in Horned Almighty inked a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of fifth album “World of Tombs.”

Bredahl (Ex-Hatesphere, The Kandidate, Barcode etc.) in Deadrat Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright. The music is intentionally written to destroy all boundaries on stage, crushing all doctrines and rules with a “don’t give a shit” take on black metal as a testament to all that is extreme.
The album is due out September 1st and the track listing is as follows:
01. Intro
02. World of Tombs

Nick Hipa Discusses Tim Lambesis And New Band
After the amusingly ridiculous interview with would-be hitman hirer Tim Lambesis - in which he blamed his actions on lack of belief in god - former bandmate Nick Hipa (now with Wovenwar) has conducted an interview to speak about the band's demise, the rise of his new group, Christianity, and more in the MetalSucks podcast.
During the hour-plus long interview, Nick Hipa claims that Tim Lambesis’ crime was not completely out of character, stating:
"Any dude in a band … they are very aware of their bandmates’ highs and their lows, the strengths of their characters, and their flaws. You kind of just accept each other for it. I think even to the extent that you’re like, ‘Man, y’know, this dude sucks, but he’s got other things going for him.’ But for us, we started to see the degradation of [Lambesis'] character to [the point where it was] like, ‘There’s nothing really redeeming here. This guy is losing touch. What do we do? This is somebody that we’re involved with on multiple levels.’
"And so we just tried to keep things together as well as we could, and not let any of those things ruin the band and what we had built. But when [Lambesis was arrested], I think we were surprised, [but] we weren’t shocked like everyone else. This came out of the blue for everyone else… we did not expect things to go as far as they did, but [what Lambesis did] wasn’t completely out of character.”
This interview and more of this week’s episode can be streamed in full at MetalSucks.net here.
Wovenwar's self-titled debut is due out August 5th, 2014 and you can check out a song from the release at this location. Lambesis meanwhile has been sentenced to six years of incarceration for attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife.

Etched In Stone Streaming Full Album
It's been four very trying years for Central California's Etched In Stone to get to where the band is today.
Despite all the issues, and partially because of some of them, the band has redefined its sound along the way, and is now gearing up to make a return with a brand new full-length album, "The Failure of Modern Man," which finally sees release tomorrow, Tuesday, June 24th.
In anticipation of the pending release, the band has launched a full album stream directly via SoundCloud. Check it out below. Etched In Stone vocalist/producer Brian Lewis had the following to say about finally being able to get the album out:
"I'm overjoyed to bring the full stream of the album to life, and I know I speak for all of us in the band when say that we're VERY proud of this release and being able to give fans, old and new, a legitimate taste of what the future of Etched in Stone's sound holds. As for FINALLY being able to release this long anticipated album, It's a huge leap in the right direction for us. All of the setbacks that we've had (of which we've had a plethora) are now behind us and it's the best feeling in the world to know we're that much closer to bringing this band to the stage again! Typically I'd throw in some kind of witty remark about what the listener is intended to take from this but this time around, it's safe to say the album speaks for itself. My hope is that you enjoy listening and that it leaves you wanting more!" More...
