Anatomy Of Habit Signs With Relapse

Relapse Records is proud to announce today the signing of Chicago, IL quintet Anatomy of Habit. The label comments:

"Formed in October 2008 and featuring current and former members of BLOODYMINDED, Tortoise, Wolves in the Throne Room, Joan of Arc, Indian and many other bands, the group play a haunting, psychedelically terrifying blend of doom metal, post-punk, death-rock, noise-rock, and shoegaze.

"Anatomy of Habit, composed of Theo Katsaounis (Percussion), Will Lindsay (Guitar), John McEntire (Drums), Kenny Rasmussen (Bass), Mark Solotroff (Vocals), have released an eponymous LP (2011) and EP (2012) plus a CD compiling both vinyl only releases.

"The band recorded their upcoming Relapse debut with renowned producer Sanford Parker (Corrections House, Cough, YOB) at Soma Electronic Music Studios in Chicago and it is expected to see a late 2014 release."

The members commented on signing to Relapse: "Anatomy of Habit is thrilled to join the Relapse family, which in many ways is already very close to us. The label has been a strong supporter of the Chicago dark/heavy music scene that we are part of, and several of our friends have records on the label, including Indian (who we share our guitarist Will Lindsay with), Bloodiest, High Confessions, Circle of Animals, Minsk, Locrian and Chris Connelly.

"Vocalist Mark Solotroff has seen his noise releases (Bloodyminded, Intrinsic Action) supported by Relapse mail-order over the years, he added synth tracks to Brutal Truth's 2009 album, Evolution Through Revolution, and to Indian's latest album, From all Purity, he has worked closely with Locrian since their inception, he released a CD by former Relapse artists Dead World, and he released the vinyl version of Chris Connelly's Artificial Madness on his BloodLust! label. The band feels like we are in very good hands and we appreciate the ongoing interest and support that Relapse has shown us, practically since we formed in 2008.

"Working with Sanford Parker on our new album brought us that much closer to the label, so it finally seemed like the right time to seal the deal. We are excited to get the new record out into the world and we are already writing material for our next album." More...

Bullet To Release New Album

On September 9th (September 8th Europe) the new Bullet album called "Storm Of Blades" will hit stores. This is the band's fifth long player and the first featuring new guitar player Alexander Lyrbo, who replaced Erik Almström in 2012.

“This is a fast and heavy back to the roots album,” the band comments. “Now with the young blood Alex on the guitar, always thirsty for metal, the songs ended up just like that: Heavier, faster and more raw than on previous albums. We can now at last truthfully say; this is our best album this far and most likely the rawest since the 'Heavy Metal Highway' recording in 2002.

"We wanted to make the toughest Bulletsong ever and this riff popped up. The first impression was the image of knifes falling from the sky and the title 'Storm Of Blades' was born. To make this song the title track of our new album became a must as it is a tale about destruction, apocalypse and horror!”

The album was recorded during December/January 2014 and April/May 2014 at the Pama Studio in Torsås, Sweden. it was produced by Bullet and Magnus “Mankan” Sedenberg. See the band live: More...

Hammerfall Announces New Single Release

Hammerfall today announces the release of the "Bushido" single, taken from upcoming new record "(r)Evolution." The single will be released on July 18th on a limited vinyl edition, as well as digitally. The tracklist will be:

A: Bushido
B: The Way Of The Warrior (remixed by Fredrik Nordström)

Pre-orders are available here and Guitar player Oscar Dronjak comments:

“This album has more single quality songs than anyone we've ever done before, as evidenced by the fact that pretty much the only single choice we all could agree on was 'Bushido'. It captures the essence HammerFall as much as any other song we have ever written, and it is one of the absolute strongest efforts from our camp, ever. It's filled with energy, hunger and pure adrenaline, and if you don't like this one, you have no love for HammerFall heavy metal!”

The artwork for the "Bushido" single was done by Samwise Didier. The full "(r)Evolution" album will be out August 29th (EU), Sept. 1st (UK) and Sept. 2nd (USA) via Nuclear Blast Records. More...

Disparager Posts "Gratitude" Video

Brooklyn, NY's Disparager has teamed up with Blank TV for the premiere of new acoustic video "Gratitude," the third track off recently released debut EP "Timeless, Ageless," which was produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, H2O, American Nightmare, Polar Bear Club).

Vocalist / guitarist Chris Ahkao comments: "A handful of Disparager songs stemmed from me playing acoustic guitar and grew from there, and acoustic playing is extremely intimate. It's just you, and a block of wood, no distortion or drums or density of metal orchestration, and the end result is that uniquely human element that you bring to the table. Plus, I love screaming over acoustic guitar, it always gets heads to turn and there's this stupid yet special "shock value" factor to its naked abrasiveness." More...

Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 19

There's been no shortage of hot-button weekly metal news lately - well, very little shortage, anyway; sometimes we at the Metalunderground.com Official Podcast (listen here) are forced to make shit up - and perhaps the most hotly contested announcement is that of the big ol' Singer Change. Replace a bassist or keyboardist and no one bats an eye. Replace a guitarist or drummer and healthy debate ensues. Replace a singer and everyone loses their minds.

It happened in March when Alissa White-Gluz (ex-The Agonist) stepped into the shoes of veteran Arch Enemy frontwoman Angela Gossow, and now it's happened again on the Left Coast: Bay Area thrashers Exodus have relieved vocalist Rob Dukes of his duties after nine years and four albums of service, making way for the return of previous frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza. Reactions have been mixed and somewhat heated, and here to discuss just that is your fabulous co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure).

Next, Mike and dashing co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) tackle the fresh new single "Rusted Nail" from Swedish metal giants In Flames, of which they both are confirmed fans for life. However, reactions to this song are mixed as well, and the overall attitude toward the band's upcoming album "Siren Charms" is one of... shall we say, "cautious optimism."

Finally, Mike offers his initial reaction to the upcoming album "Origins" from Swiss folk metal heroes Eluveitie. He was blessed with an early promo for review, and concludes that this effort combines elements of the band's past and present and is likely to satisfy fans old and new alike.

Tune in here, enjoy, and offer us your feedback. You can subscribe via iTunes or RSS, and don't forget to throw in for a free ticket giveaway in Fort Lauderdale (if you're able and willing) for DevilDriver at Revolution Live next Wednesday, June 18th. Just email us at podcast@metalunderground.com with "DEVILDRIVER" in the subject heading, and provide your name matching your ID.

B(r)eastmilk Releases New Music Video

Beastmilk (which shall henceforth be referred to as "Breastmilk" at Metalunderground - because why not?) today offers a new music video premiered via Noisey - Music By Vice, in anticipation of impending summer festival dates.

The video, available below, is for the track "The Wind Blows Through Their Skulls" and features a mashup of nuclear propaganda, atomic fear and 1950s optimism, and also a visual representation of the band's message: dance while the world burns.

In October, the milkers of odd animals will join In Solitude to surf the Fall of Europe. Says the band, "There was only one other album in 2013 that we considered as game-changing and important as Climax, and that was In Solitude's kindred masterpiece - Sister. It made a hell of a lot of other bands sound out of date and irrelevant overnight. That's why we're very proud to surf the crest of a new wave with our brothers, as we announce a tour that has long been in the works." More...

The Binary Code Parts Ways With Drummer

U.S. band The Binary Code has checked in with the following statement about parting ways with the band's drummer:

"We recently parted ways with Umar Fahim, our drummer of 7 years. Let me first say that in the 10 years we've been a band, no one has been more dedicated to the band than Umar. He's been the one guy who was ready to drop everything at any moment for anything that ever surfaced for us.

"In fact, on tour with Revocation in 2010, we were 2 days into a 33 date tour and we had a van-totaling accident that would generally stop a band from touring, and HE made the tour go on by working from the hour we got to the tiny hotel in Mansfield, PA to the early morning the next day as we sat in a 2 bed hotel room the size of a bathroom with all of our gear and luggage packed inside.
