Phantom Glue Announces Album Release

Black Market Activities will release Phantom Glue's new album, "A War of Light Cones," this coming July 16th.

Phantom Glue's second album, and first for BMA, was produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio (Torche, Today Is The Day). Ballou's connection to Phantom Glue dates back to the 90's when he and Matt Oates were band mates in The Huguenots. Black Market Activities also comments:

"Boston, Massachusetts crushers, equally versed in sludge, doom, and noise rock, Phantom Glue churn out their self-proclaimed 'avalanche of distortion' with nods to Neurosis, Trouble, and The Jesus Lizard throughout. Colossal drums and bass charge forth while twin guitars cast evil spells. Exclaim! Magazine has hailed the band's sweet, mountain-moving din as 'a heated bastion of caustic riffs and unearthly girth.' Decibel Magazine praised their 2010 debut as, simply, 'a headbanger's journey.'

"Beneath the music lies a heavy H.P. Lovecraft vibe, conjured through the supernatural lyrics and cover art of vocalist/guitarist Matt Oates. Oates describes A War of Light Cones specifically as 'a nightmare/occult alternate history of Colonial America.' A perfect sample of Phantom Glue's sound and vision, lead track 'Perils' tells the tale of a trapper catching a creature whose pelt grants psychic gifts. Stream 'Perils' via The Boston Phoenix!" Stomach Earth Announces Debut Album

Black Market Activities will be presenting the self-titled debut album by Stomach Earth, the solo project of The Red Chord guitarist and founder Mike "Gunface" McKenzie, this coming July 16th. The label comments:

"Massive, creeping death-doom of the underworld, Stomach Earth summons the vast void of early Godflesh and the morbid grandeur of early Cathedral, creating a new futuristic sound that is transfixing and heavy as hell.

"Like a single wave swallowing a city, Stomach Earth wields maximum power through minimum means. Glacial tempos and minimal programmed drums allow for a clarity that absolutely devastates. McKenzie, known across the globe as a technical metal shredder, chooses instead with Stomach Earth to do his killing slowly and methodically. The results are awe-inspiring. Monolithic and glistening with cinematic sheen, Stomach Earth demands to be cranked to 11.

"Surrender to the hypnotic trance and headbang in slow-motion to Stomach Earth's 'Watchers,' below!

"The sole mastermind behind Stomach Earth, McKenzie wrote all the album's music and lyrics, sang and played all the instruments. The self-recorded, self-mixed album was mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East." More...

Fleshgod Apocalypse Reveals New Album Details

Italy's symphonic death metal horde Fleshgod Apocalypse will return this August with a new album entitled "Labyrinth."

The album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio. Colin Marks (Origin, Kataklysm) also created the cover artwork, as well as several pieces of art for a massive inlay.

"Labyrinth" will be released August 16th, 2013 in Europe and August 20th, 2013 in North America via Nuclear Blast. Drummer Francesco Paoli commented:

“Labyrinth is going to be THE album for Fleshgod Apocalypse. It's the perfect combination of all our strong points with the best production we've ever had. It's definitely the most Fleshgod thing we've ever thought with the most Fleshgod riffs, lyrics, melodies, drum parts, solos, etc...We went deep inside the core of this music, we broke it, and we finally unleashed these eleven songs. I want to be honest, it needed so much work and time to come up with this but now I'm like, ‘ok next time will be tough to reach this point!’ Honesty and quality pay, always, and all of you guys supporting the band Deserve The Best. You might think that I’m overrating it just because it's our ‘child’ but, trust me, this album is fuckin' dangerous. Just take your time, listen to it and get lost into the Labyrinth.” More...

Commented Jimbob on the future of Hark and signing to Season of Mist: “H A R K has poured our heart and soul in to the formation of the band, as well as the three years of writing and playing together. Despite being a relatively new band, our history and work in previous bands have given us a sound and ethic that result in a hard hitting delivery of passion and heaviness. Season of Mist's enthusiasm for H A R K has been most welcome, appreciated and added more fuel to our fire. We're looking forward to working together, and can't wait to unleash the album.”

Hark will enter Monnow Valley Studios in Wales later this summer to record a debut full-length album.

In other news, Jimbob recently completed a new tour poster for the current Red Fang European tour. The poster will be available for sale on his art page in the coming weeks.

Interview

An Interview With Infera Bruo

The name Infera Bruo might not ring a bell to some readers, but if you’re a black metal fan, it should. The band made a stir with their 2011 self-titled release. Though they retain the signature traits of black metal, they don’t maintain a conventional attitude towards their music. A full-time member is dedicated to synths and other effects, and melodic vocals pierce through the tremolo-generated noise. Infera Bruo is not held down by any standards, making their own waves and steering away from the norm.

The band is getting ready to release their second album, “Desolate Unknown,” in early July, which pushes their dynamic black metal sound against a more progressive mindset. I had the chance to send guitarist/vocalist Galen some questions via email about the new album, the importance of the lyrical content, and being an unsigned/independent group. More...

Pursuing The End Announces New LP

Italian symphonic gothic act Pursuing The End announced that the debut full length release will be entitled "Symmetry of Scorn." The album will be issued on August 27, 2013 via Bakerteam Records. The album features new members: Luca Cocconi (Bass) (Ex-Browbeat), Gregorio Ferrarese (Drums) (Libria/Ex-Browbeat), Thomas Pipitone (Guitars) and Chiara Manese (vocals) (Ex-Astral Dive).

Formed in 2010 in Parma, Italy, the band quickly got critics' attention with its first EP "Dawn Of Expiation" (2011). Song "Followers Of The Wrong Way" and the title track were included in compilations such as Kill City (USA) and Mondo Metal (ITA). Another EP, "Withering," followed shortly after in 2012. The band has always believed in the commixture of musical genres - as the members' musical background includes anything from extreme metal to electronic music, not to mention the influence of classical music - but also in the commixture of visual arts in general, as it can be seen in the music video for the song "Withering," written and directed by Mike Lunacy (Dark Lunacy), which embodies all the features that make Pursuing The End unique: elegance and aggressiveness, science and spirituality.

"Symmetry Of Scorn" is a blend of a heavy melodic metalcore with elements from the world of pop, dance and the distinguishing features of the band's previous works as well as symphonic melodies.

The track listing for the album is:

1. The Last Truth
2. Something Remains
3. Cage Of Hypocrisy
4. From The Ashes
5. In Vain
6. Mercyful Vengeance
7. Human Revulsion
8. Out Of Control
9. Symmetry Of Scorn
