Kult Ov Azazel Disbanding
Long running Florida metal band Kult Ov Azazel has been put down - may it rest in chaos! The band issued this statement:
"On June 10th a decision was made to disband Kult ov Azazel. This was a hard decision to make and still is bitter pill to swallow. After having to cancel all dates for the Archons ov Darkness tour it’s become apparent that over the past couple of years the band has ended up with employees rather than mates. This was a big factor in the decision to end the band.
"It’s become a financial burden to continue under the current circumstances. When camaraderie comes with a price attached it’s also a sign to the end. This was not the way Kult ov Azazel was intended to be. The band begun with two guys with a shared vision which in turn sought out other like minded individuals to create music with. It was not about money. It was not about fame. It was to write music that spoke directly to us. It was our conduit and was something we were passionate about.
"Some where down the line this ended. Passions changed with certain members, members came and went and what was left was one person trying to hold it all together, trying to keep things moving forward. That has increasingly become harder over the years. A band requires all members to have that drive otherwise stagnation begins to set in. And what is a band if only a few have that driving passion? It becomes an obstacle. That’s where the cards have fallen here.
"It’s unfortunate but at some point one has to stop dreaming and look at the cold hard reality of things. After facing reality it was evident that this decision had to be made. Thanks to all the members in current form and past that have marched within the ranks over the past seventeen years. Some of those bonds made will hold forever. With all that said, just remember that with death comes birth…" More...

"We are sorry to have inform you that the upcoming Taake U.S. tour has been postponed. This is due to an unforeseen and serious issue with Taake's visa status.
"Immigration specialists are working to correct the matter as quickly as possible. We are doing our best to save the scheduled NYC shows and on re-scheduling the rest of the tour."
There's been no word from Wolvhammer at this point if the band will continue on with any of the shows or wait for the rescheduled dates.
C H R I S T Streaming Full "T O W E R" Album
As Montréal-based label L'oeil Du Tigre releases C H R I S T's debut LP "T O W E R" this week, the album is now online for streaming in full.
Letting mesmerizing, mournful structures and demoralizing amplification do the talking, C H R I S T delivers work virtually void of vocals on the dense but expansive "T O W E R" debut, surging with an immersive nearly forty-two minute excursion through the outer boundaries of ethereal post-metal.
Founded by guitarists Patrick Fontaine (Ire, The Black Hand, Complications) and Maxime Jenniss (Cobra Noir), who later recruited Charles Marty (Sed Non Satiata) and Kevin Bartczak (Near Grey), C H R I S T is a far more restrained and contemplative endeavor than what would be safe to assume when looking at the band's pedigree. Gruesome Posts Lyric Video
Death-adoring metal collective Gruesome continues to floor the masses with the Schuldiner saluting album "Savage Land." Today a lyric video comes online for the band's namesake track - check it out below.
Boasting a powerhouse cast of characters with members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, and Derketa, Gruesome pays its respects to death metal's most celebrated founding American act, Death, in a way that's at once familiar but refreshing; an addictively punishing exhibition of late-'80s/early-'90s Florida-styled death metal that keeps the true sound and spirit of Chuck Schuldiner alive and well. Valdur Reveals "Pathetic Scum"
Following an extended slumber, Mammoth Lake, California-based black/death merchants Valdur emerge from their crypts with the infernal fruits of latest offering, lovingly dubbed "Pathetic Scum."
The follow-up to 2013's soul-devouring "At War With" full-length, "Pathetic Scum" was tracked entirely at the band's clandestine Bloody Mountain Bunker, mixed by drummer Matthew, mastered by Dan at Morbid Mastering and offers up seven cruel odes of audio abhorrence. "Pathetic Scum" is due out June 30th, and the band comments:
"Guitarist/vocalist Samuel is still with us so to speak, but he is so busy with personal/family matters at the moment. Vuke, new guitarist, is not a replacement, but a full time member of Valdur. And for live dates this spring, Roskva will be on vocals again. And we have William on bass and Matthew on drums. We all appreciate anyone who takes the time in this world to have a listen to our music. It is built and molded by our own hands to the form and shape that we like. With these new songs, we give you something different yet again along the obscure Valdur timeline..."

Sepultura Plays 30-Year Anniversary Show in Austin
Just a few weeks ago I watched Cavalera Conspiracy perform Sepultura songs at the Texas Independence Festival on the very same stage at Empire Control Room & Garage. At that show I heard the former voice (Max) and beat maker (Igor) of Sepultura. With the band bearing the namesake Sepultura, I witnessed original bassist Paulo Jr. and longtime guitarist Andreas Kisser. Most of all I would be comparing vocalists. I saw Max Cavalera front the band during their vaunted “Chaos A.D.” album twenty-one years ago, so I was curious to hear Derrick Green’s fill in this position. More...

Want To Taste Angels Pissing On Your Tongue?
Belgian brewer Eutropius has joined forces with Montreal death metal masters Kataklysm to bring you the band‘s own branded beer.
This specialty craft beer has been brewed with the band's approval on a unique recipe for a pure Belgian blonde and stands at a mighty and unholy 6.66% alcohol content.
Keeping true to the band's origins, the beer has been baptized with the "St. Tabarnak" name; "Tabarnak" is a popular slang word in Quebec and fits perfectly with the bands heritage.
The beer will be coming out this August to commemorate the release of new album "Of Ghosts And Gods" (due out July 31st worldwide). It will be available in Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland in the first month with plans to release it and distribute it across Europe, Canada and the States for this fall.
Eutropius Brewery CEO Wouter Vermeersch comments: “Today, our brewery can finally announce its deal with the Canadian Death Metal force Kataklysm. We are proud to cooperate in unleashing their own blonde ale beer into the world.“
Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono comments: “It‘s a total honor of being asked to partake in such a project. We started with our own hot sauce to start the party for our new record release and now we have the beer to go with it, the music is coming this summer and all this is for our fans. They deserve it! Cheers Tabarnak!“ More...

Cathedral Re-Issuing "In Memoriam"
Cathedral has a CD/DVD re-issue of "In Memoriam" coming out on June 29th via Rise Above Records. The following press release was also issued by the label:
"As with a choice few truly great bands, the first self-financed cassette recording by Cathedral - made available in October 1990 - was a pioneering underground masterpiece in its own right; the sound of a young band exploring its newfound chemistry, finding confident variations on a flawless list of influences and cultivating a sound and style that would prove hugely inspirational throughout the 1990s and beyond, being a major influence on everyone from Electric Wizard through to Reverend Bizarre.
"Where most demos are little more than a dry run for the first album, 'In Memoriam' still has its own distinct and important identity in the Cathedral canon. The debut LP that followed, 'Forest Of Equilibrium,' has a somber, devout, melodic and mystical grandeur all of its own - but 'In Memoriam' has a far murkier, earthier, more deathly intent. Creepy, cryptic and bowel-looseningly heavy, it represents the first time that the doom metal stylings of Trouble, Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Witchfinder General had been rendered in a new, more extreme metallic form.
"At the beginning of the new decade, it was really only Cathedral who were proud to assert the influence of true doom metal - a perennially unfashionable genre, but especially in a turn-of-the-decade metal scene so obsessed with speed, technicality, brutality and modernity.
"Now the former members of Cathedral have moved on and continue their musical ventures. Garry 'Gaz' Jennings released the debut from his new band Death Penalty last year and now plays as part of the band Lucifer. Also expected soon is a release from With The Dead featuring Lee Dorrian and original Electric Wizard Members Mark Greening and Tim Bagshaw." More...

Svart Crown Comments On Metal Alliance Situation
Svart Crown has checked in with the following statement about the Metal Alliance fiasco and continuing on with touring:
"Due to complex circumstances out of our control, the Metal Alliance Tour in its original form has been cancelled and been replaced by a new tour including Deicide, Hate Eternal, Black Crown Initiate, and Lorna Shore.
"Unfortunately our fellow and best tour bus companions Entombed A.D. had to fly back to Sweden. We had then to decide either to do the same and return to France from Seattle, or to find a solution for ourselves (rent a van, driving, sleeping places...) and keep going with the rest of the bands... More determined than ever to conquer the US, WE DECIDED TO GO ON!
"In regards of this shitty situation, thank you for any way you can support us, blast the gigs, check out our merch at our stand and we will be eternally thankful for any help you can afford helping us with tips and Paypal (sons-of-underground[at]hotmail.fr) or even a place to stay so we keep up!
