Child Bite Has A "Mongoloid Obsession"

Child Bite, which will tour with Superjoint in July, just released a new video for "Mongoloid Obsession." The tune comes by way of the band's pillaging "Strange Waste" EP, released last year via Housecore Records.

Written and directed by the band during recent studio sessions at the famed Nodferatu's Lair and self-described as a "lo-if slab of Ed Wood-meets-John Waters bafoonery," the clip features a cameo appearance by Philip H. Anselmo and finds Child Bite at the band's most bizarre. More...

In Defence Proclaims "Tacos Til Death"

Minneapolis, Minnesota mosh instigators In Defence will independently unleash face-displacing fourth full-length, "Don't Fuck With The Dungeon Master," later this month, and today the act wages war on the pizza industry with an exclusive premiere of "Tacos Til Death."

The band comments: "This song is a declaration of war against the pizza loving industry, and their efforts to brainwash the masses into buying that abomination that they still have the audacity to call 'food' will no longer be tolerated. For far too long the Taco has been belittled and under-represented. This will go on no longer. Today is our day. We are legion. Tacos Till Death." The featured track runs alongside a gnarly tour diary of the band's Southeastern US tour earlier this year.

Ronnie James Dio Fund Raises $155,000

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund presented a wonderful weekend of events from May 15th - 17th in Los Angeles, dubbed the Ronnie James Dio’s 5th Year Remembrance weekend.

The events included a Bowl For Ronnie celebrity bowling tournament and red carpet, a public memorial service celebration with performances and speeches, and the inaugural Ride For Ronnie motorcycle ride and BBQ.

Designed to raise funds for cancer research and education, the weekend’s events and auctions brought in over $155,000 to go directly to these causes. Auctions included bowling pins autographed by artists such as Tenacious D, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Anthrax and Metallica, a Dio guitar signed by artists in attendance to the bowling event (this guitar fetched a generous $6,100), a signed book of photography by PG Brunelli ($2,000 raised), and more.

The overlying theme of the weekend wasn’t just celebration, but in addition, learning how to prevent and detect cancer – early. The Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund cites early detection as a way that Ronnie could still be with us today, and many of the funds garnered from these events will go towards this type of education.

“Detecting cancer early saves lives and it gives doctors a better chance to cure cancer,” states Ronnie’s doctor Sandy Kapoor, MD. “We support research that develops new cancer screening tests and finds new targeted treatments that are more effective at treating cancer. I enjoyed manning the Check Yourself booth during the events this weekend that educated the fans about protecting against the ravages of skin cancer.” More...

Leaving. Having friends pass away, people leaving you in relationships, romantic or otherwise. Losing faith. The record title explains it all. With this album, I know that personally I wrote about things which I still haven't spoken of otherwise, and all the guys put everything they had into this. The record means a lot to us."

Soulfly Reveals New Album

On August 14th (worldwide) Soulfly will release 10th studio album, "Archangel," via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Today the band has revealed the stunning cover artwork created by artist Eliran Kantor.

”I am so proud to be releasing Soulfly’s tenth album,” comments founder/vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera. “I feel it is my most mystic album since 'Prophecy.' The guest collaborations have always been a trademark of Soulfly and 'Archangel' is no different! We can’t wait to play this live for the worldwide tribe!”

In regards to the band and the album cover, artist Eliran Kantor states: "I've been a fan of Max's music ever since discovering 'Beneath The Remains' in high school. When my wife and I got married 'Territory' was even played at the dance party part of our wedding. Max asked me to do a traditional piece depicting Archangel Michael - and I tried to go beyond the straight-up neo-classical style as that has been perfected centuries ago, so I mixed in Souflly''s own visual world: hence the wings and spear being shaped like the Soulfly tribal icon, the cliff with the ocean view just like on the first record, and the Brazilian flag being the core of it's color scheme." The Exploding Eyes Orchestra Posts New Video

What started as a pastime for Jess and the Ancient Ones guitarist and songwriter Thomas Corpse has morphed into an actual band: The Exploding Eyes Orchestra.

Today The Exploding Eyes Orchestra's new video "Two-Zero 13" comes online, directed by Costing Chioreanu (Ulver, Opeth) and taken off upcoming album "I" due out on June 15th.

According to Thomas Corpse, the idea behind The Exploding Eyes Orchestra was to find an outlet for material which the prolific songwriter found incompatible with the Jess and the Ancient Ones concept. The album is culled from lengthy recording sessions held in Kuopio, Finland in the winter of 2013 and 2014, and these sessions also produced another album's worth of excellent material, which will see the light of day on the next release, "II," in the spring of 2016.

Solstafir Comments On Parting With Drummer

Iceland's Solstafir has issued the following statement about parting ways with dummer Gummi Óli Palmasson:

"It is with great pain but quiet respect, that we are making this official statement to inform you that for personal reasons beyond reconciliation, Sólstafir and Guðmundur "Gummi" Óli Palmasson have parted ways indefinitely.

"There are always two sides to every story. No one knows the whole story other than those directly involved. As is the case in any relationship, all parties play their roles in creating and ending it. Both parties have their versions, and often at times, the point gets lost along the way, buried in emotions.

"The bottom line is, Guðmundur is no longer in the band, because of a deep personal conflict that involves all three remaining members and cannot be solved. He is well aware of this.

"The decision to part ways was absolutely not something that happened overnight, and we are genuinely pained by the way things have turned out. If the three of us had felt there was any way of mending the damage and moving forward with Guðmundur, then of course we would have - and we did make genuine efforts to do so. That is the reason for our silence. Waiting so long to make a statement was wrong on our part, and for that, we apologize. There are so many personal levels to this split. It has been very difficult to find the words while still respecting our individual privacy, Guðmundur's included.

"Despite what we have read that appears to have been written in anger, bitterness, and seemingly spite, we continue to hold no ill will toward Guðmundur and sincerely want to thank him for all of his hard work and being such a huge part of the band for all these years. We acknowledge this fact every day and of course, he will receive his fair share. There was never any intention not to do this. We will never forget his role in Sólstafir, which is why we remain silent about the reasons now and in the future. We can only hope you respect and understand this. Sólstafir will continue as a three piece with a session percussionist, just as we have since January of this year. We hope to see you all on the road and can only ask for your continued support."

The statement mentioned above from Gummi reads as follows (and get ready for a Wintersun length read folks): More...

Cain's Offering Discusses New Album "Stormcrow"

Back in 2009, following guitarist/composer Jani Liimatainen’s departure from Sonata Arctica, a “supergroup” consisting of Liimatainen, keyboardist Mikko Harkin (Mehida/ex-Symfonia), vocalist Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius), Jukka Koskinen (ex-Norther/Wintersun) and drummer Jani Hurula (Silent Voices) was formed as Cain’s Offering.

Liimatainen was the sole writer of the music and lyrics that would appear as on the debut release “Gather the Faithful.” With other commitments coming into play since its release, Liimatainen came out in the summer of 2014 and announced that writing was underway for a sophomore effort, which would be released via Frontiers Records. For fans of the debut, the long wait was over.

“Stormcrow” was issued back in mid-May and Liimatainen took out some time to answer a few questions about how it came to be and whether the band will ever play live. More...
