Carnivora Reveals "The Vision"

Carnivora is set to release "The Vision" EP via Manshark Entertainment this coming June 23rd, 2015. The label comments:

"In a scene filled with regurgitated riffs and passionless trend followers, Carnivora set themselves apart. The five-piece outfit from Boston thrives with an approach to modern metal rooted in the values of classic headbangers.

"Brutal and melodic, aggressive yet contained, the combination of elements creates a unique experience that is fresh but familiar. With their high-energy live shows and rabid fanbase Carnivora can, and will, open the door for the new age of metal.

"The band rapidly developed a name for themselves in the New England metal scene after their 2011 formation. Carnivora independently funded, produced, and released their debut album 'Eternal' in 2013, which was well received by fans and press throughout the region and beyond.

"Carnivora returned to the studio in late 2014 to record a follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut. 'The Vision' EP, due for an early 2015 release, features 4 tracks of pure metal showcasing the sonic evolution of this new musical powerhouse."

Pre-orders are available at this location, and the track listing is as follows: More...

Rivers Of Nihil Releasing New Album

Rivers Of Nihil today unveils "Monarchy," the band's sophomore full-length album. The record will be available worldwide on Metal Blade Records starting August 21st, 2015. A brand new track titled "Perpetual Growth Machine" is online now, and pre-orders can be found at this location.

Rivers of Nihil began its musical journey in 2009 and recorded first EP, "Hierarchy," with Carson Slovak. Six years and multiple tours later, the band returned to Slovak and Atrium Audio in Pennsylvania, after having recorded previous effort "The Conscious Seed of Light" in 2013 with Erik Rutan at Mana Studios in Florida.

Guitarist Brody Uttley cites recent personal hardships as a major factor in the creative process for "Monarchy." Uttley divulges that, "I lost a few close friends. The loss of these people had a profound influence on the creation of the music for this record. I was having strong feelings of rage, sadness, hope, and frustration as a result. The songs turned out heavier, darker, sadder, and more frightening than I had ever hoped that they would."

The seasonal concept that began with spring on "The Conscious Seed of Light" continues, of course with "Monarchy" as it welcomes the oppressive heat of summer. The story takes place millions of years after the events in "The Conscious Seed of Light."

Adam Biggs, who also serves as the band's primary lyricist, explains: "The Earth has been transformed into a vast desert wasteland, where after aeons of lifelessness, new beings begin to take shape and begin their journey as shepherds of the planet. But after a while, a class system forms from a sun-worshiping religious dictatorship, and these beings start to lose their way. Only the guidance of an ancient earthly force can help them save themselves as well the planet." More...

Black Tongue Explores "The Unconquerable Dark"

Black Tongue will release new full-length "The Unconquerable Dark" on September 4th, 2015 via Century Media Records. The label comments:

"'The Unconquerable Dark' is a devastatingly bleak record that showcases the Hull Hate Crew's trademark down tempo sound to absolute full effect. From the opening doom drenched riffs of 'Plague Worship' to the black metal tinged 'L'appel du Vide,' to the unfathomably heavy 'Prince Of Ash' and 'Vermintide' (featuring guest vocals from Suicide Silence's Eddie Hermida), the hatred spews out of the speakers."

Produced by Black Tongue & Jesse Kirkbride (Traitors, Demolisher), the album features artwork by Ken Sarafin (Oceano, Catalepsy). The band had the following to say on announcing the record:

"Our original mindset for 'Falsifier' and 'Born Hanged' was to create the most ridiculously crushing music around. We created the heaviest music because there just wasn't anything around at the time that was as heavy as we wanted to hear. We feel like we did a pretty good job. Now there's a plethora of bands that are taking the reigns of the heavy and we love it, but a new direction is in order.

"With The Unconquerable Dark we wanted to keep the slow, low and crushing vibe but add some maturity to it. More riffs, more memorable choruses and some juicy lead thrown in. Don't get us wrong, this is the heaviest thing we've ever released (and probably that you've ever heard), but we took the time to give it atmosphere and structure instead of being heavy for heavy's sake. The Black Dahlia Murder Releasing "Abysmal" Album

The Black Dahlia Murder has returned with "Abysmal," which is now officially set for a September 18th release.

The group kicks off a tour of Australia next week with Psycroptic and Colossvs (dates availabel below) and look for brand new music to surface in the coming weeks.

The Black Dahlia Murder will unveil pre-orders and the first track from "Abysmal" on June 24th, but the cover artwork can already be seen below. Trevor Strnad (vocals) states:

"The new album, 'Abysmal,' is true to The Black Dahlia Murder formula, but further down the evolutionary path we began with our Ritual release. It has bigger, more dynamic and developed songs. It sees the band in a darker, faster and more melancholic place than anything we've done to date. It is an album wrought emotion on a scale that we haven't reached with our previous attempts. It's dripping with urgency, and an undeniable sincere life and death purpose.

"It has moments of triumph and moments of utter abandon and defeat. It runs the gamut. If you can't sense the message of despair in a song like 'Receipt' or the title track 'Abysmal,' than you are an unfeeling statue of a person. You speed freaks can also thank the ungodly contribution of our young skinsman Alan Cassidy, as the new album sees us approaching maniacal speeds unseen before in the TBDM catalog. More...

Enertia Announces First Album In 11 Years

New York thrash act Enertia has broken an 11 year studio album silence by announcing the impending release of the fifth studio album "Piece of the Factory." The album is expected to drop on July 17th via Divebomb Records.

The announcement reads: "After working practically non-stop for eleven years, which included rehearsing 2-3 times a week, 800+ shows in 20+ states and well over 10,000 CDs sold on six continents, upstate New York pure American metal band, Enertia was at a crossroads. After spending in excess of $25k recording their fourth album, 'Force' (2004), with producer, Neil Kernon, the band had finally exhausted their bank account and didn't have the money or resources to properly record their fifth album. It was time for Enertia to regroup.

"Fast forward to 2007, after three productive years laying the groundwork for what would become their much anticipated new album everything had almost disastrously ground to a halt, that is, until bassist, Joe Paciolla, made up his mind that these recordings had to be completed no matter the cost. In 2011, the band fortuitously happened upon a great studio and in it the remarkable engineer/producer, Tim Lynch, who was enlisted to help guide Enertia through the completion of the album.

"Three additional years of hard work and several hundred hours were spent at The Recording Company in Esperance, NY, where Enertia created the most diverse, infectious and prolific album of the band’s lengthy career, 'Piece Of The Factory'."

The track list for the album is:

1. Do It Again
2. Demons Of Silence
3. The Hardest Sorrow
4. Piece Of The Factory
5. Beside You, Beside Me
6. An Old Fashioned Beating
7. Hard To Follow
8. Prisoner
9. Can't Breathe
10. Letting Go More...

Rising Reforms, Announces New Lineup

Danish sludge metal combo, Rising, has reformed with a new full-time studio and live lineup, and will return to the scene in 2015 with new live performances and the recording of a third studio LP.

Since the band's formation in 2008 and the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2009, Rising has been a promising and uncompromising act on the metal scene, both locally and internationally. After two DIY EPs, the band displayed their relentless, crushing sound, fierce musicianship and a strong sense for melody and songwriting on two full-length albums, "To Solemn Ash" (2011) and "Abominor" (2013). Rising backed the initial EPs and the debut release with several tours in Denmark and mainland Europe along with festival appearances such as Roskilde, Copenhell and Hultsfred. Yet, as momentum was building, so was also tension within the band and just after the recording of Abominor, the trio disbanded, leaving the future of Rising and the new album uncertain. "Abominor" subsequently saw its release on guitarist Jacob Krogholt's newly founded label Indisciplinarian, but no shows we're played in connection with the album.

Unwilling to see the band dissolved, main composer Krogholt quickly teamed up with original drummer Martin Niemann, a member between 2008 and 2010, with the intention of carrying on the band, if the original chemistry of the two founding members remained intact. The initial jams in the fall of 2013 proved that the spark was indeed present and over the next year and a half the duo wrote a wide variety of material, which was to be the backbone of the next album. Along the way, several musicians were tried out, but first in December 2014 new members started to enter the band. Now, after two years of writing, demoing and trying out new musicians for the band, the new Rising lineup is finally complete:

Morten Grønnegaard - Vocals
Jacob Krogholt - Guitars
Carl Peter - Guitars
Bjarke Lassen - Bass
Martin Niemann - Drums More...

Moonspell Extends Deal With Napalm Records

First they brought the dark flames to their native country – and then set the rest of the world aflame with milestone records such as "Irreligious" or "Night Eternal." After the release of their eleventh studio album "Extinct" in March 2015 (see review here, which hit the charts, Portugese dark metal pioneers in Moonspell has just renewed its worldwide deal with Napalm Records.

Vocalist and mastermind Fernando Ribeiro commented: "Moonspell has come to an interesting moment of our life as a band and after releasing Extinct, it was like a veil was taken off our eyes end we decided to only pair with people who believe in our music and who can see beyond and rise above the rotten waters most of the business and music fell into these past few years. With that in mind we joined forces with Napalm again, because they BELIEVE us, because they let us go and dare with our music and because they hold truth to their word. We might not have signed in blood but our starts aligned and it's with pleasure and hope in a great future that we say these news to all our fans. The future might be dark but without true people like the ones working for Napalm, there would be no tomorrow."

Napalm Records VP Thomas Case added: "We are proud that one of the most exciting and innovative Metal bands of today have prolongued the cooperation with Napalm Records. The path we have started together with the band two albums ago will continue and we will spare no efforts to grow the Portoguese wolves in the future!" More...
