After splitting with the band's vocalist earlier this month, Vale Of Pnath has also cancelled upcoming tour dates. The band comments:
"Due to increasingly disastrous events within the VoP ranks, we are regretfully forced to cancel our appearance at Armstrong Metal Fest and all of the shows on our STRONGARM TO ARMSTRONG July tour.
"In June, our vocalist Stevie left the band to pursue his lifelong dream of being a master Pokémon trainer. Wishing him well but wasting no time, we took to the Internet and immediately began the hunt for a new singer.
"A few days later, Alan (bass) fractures his heel and is laid up in a cast for the next 6 weeks, unable to tour at risk of further injuring himself and requiring emergency surgery. We didn’t want to but we were prepared to tour without a bass player, embarrassingly enough we’ve done it before, it’s less than ideal but still feasable in a pinch. More...
Arch Enemy presents "Burning Angel" hot sauce, which will be available during the Summer Slaughter tour this July/August (which we can only hope doesn't go the way of the Metal Alliance tour). Michael Amott comments:
"As an avid hot sauce enthusiast, I'm very excited to be able to bring out the Arch Enemy 'Burning Angel' Habanero Hot Sauce! We will start with selling it exclusively on the road during the Summer Slaughter U.S. tour. I guess a hot tour just got a little hotter!"

Today Death Angel releases audio of "Fallen" taken from "The Bay Calls For Blood - Live In San Francisco," the CD component to the thrash band's upcoming "A Thrashumentary" DVD release.
Listen in below, and you can pick up "A Thrashumentary" - directed by Tommy Jones of Videohammer Studios - on July 24th through Nuclear Blast Records.
Black Trip back and on a mission - after first all-killer-no-filler album "Goin' Under" released in 2014 (2013 in Scandinavia), now the band is about to release second album "Shadowline," which vocalist Joseph Tholl describes as "a bigger, more diverse and more personal album, but still dark, heavy metal rock."
Guitarist Peter Stjärnvind adds, "the album whilst heavy is also groovy and catchy and just makes you feel happy in a really good way."
Joseph Tholl continues, "When 'Goin' Under' was being shaped it was basically just me and Peter. But during that time we got offered gigs here in Sweden before we even had a band, so very quickly we had to get the other guys on board so we could play these gigs and record the album. Me and Jonas (Wikstrand - Drums) didn't know the other guys that well so we've all been on this journey, getting to know each other and growing together as a band. We all love heavy metal, that's the common bond that binds us, but we all have our different tastes and different musical backgrounds because me and Jonas are from a different musical generation than Peter, Sebastian and Johan.
"With the writing and recording of Shadowline we have grown together and it really feels like we have become a band now. We've influenced each other and we've begun to understand what our potential is, what we can do and what we can't do. Every band member has contributed in one way or another to the shaping of this album and following on from what we did on Goin' Under this was a very natural step for us. With the first album we were establishing the foundations of our sound, now with Shadowline we have started to build the framework of the band." More...
Following the very recent Free Electric Sound release of "Tea Time For Punks," the mighty sixth studio full-length from French rock/fusion trio Morglbl (still available for streaming in full here), the band has just issued an official video for the album's title track.
The madcap "Tea Time For Punks" video, which was directed by Enguerran Prieu, is just as screwball, unpredictable and engaging as Morglbl's energetic output as a whole, literally bringing its title to life. Come for the scones, stay for the riot. More...

New Zealand's Creeping is one of the metal underground's best-kept secrets, and thus Iron Bonhead Productions is proud to present the vinyl version of the band's third album, "Revenant," coming on August 28th. The label comments:
"For a decade now, Creeping have been capturing the sensation(s) of their very moniker with a potent blend of doomed-out death metal dusted with black metalled atmosphere. It's a sound that doesn't conveniently slot into one category - be it black, death, or doom metal - but one that bristles with unself-conscious uniqueness and a strive for the beyond.
"'Revenant' is arguably Creeping's best, most-beyond work yet, each of the five molten, monolithic tracks unfolding patiently, dragging the listener into the undertow before crushing all fortitude with the sheer psychic and physical weight of their rotten ruminations.
"Whether the listener would rather be bulldozed or entranced, it matters not: 'Revanant' tantalizingly offers keys to wherever you care to go. But returning is another matter, one that's forever Creeping..."

The track "Sacrifice of Solitude" off of the "Nest of Vipers" EP from Calgary groove metallers False Flag is now online. This track is the first song off the 2015 EP slated to be released Tuesday, August 4th and available for pre-order here.
The Calgary four piece wanted to ensure that fans would not be completely caught off guard by the changes from this new EP to older albums like "Orobas" (2013) or "Suffer In Silence" (2014), commenting:
"We wanted to start the EP off with a familiar sounding song, something that could have been off our last album or our first EP. 'Sacrifice Of Solitude' is a solid, mid tempo rocker with a bouncy groove throughout. The lyrics deal with the spreading of lies through disinformation and the defiance of blissful ignorance. The song also features guest vocals from Garrett McElroy from Afterearth (Who also engineered and mixed the new EP at his studio)."

Though shrouded in secrecy during the band's initial existence (aside from "Waldo" the African Grey Parrot on vox), it is rumoured that Blake Harrison (Pig Destroyer) and Mark Sloan (Malvador/Triac) are the humans in the group.

Sweden's Degreed just posted a brand new video for "The Scam," taken out of the album “Dead But Not Forgotten."
The band’s third album, “Dead But Not Forgotten” was released on June 19th via Sun Hill Production. Bassist / vocalist Robin Ericsson comments:
“We’ve been writing songs for this album on and off since the release of 'We Don’t Belong' in 2013. I think we had 16-17 songs that we chose from, and recorded 14. The funny thing is that we ended up putting all 14 songs on the album because they’re all so freakin’ good!
"This album is different from the previous two because we produced it ourselves this time, and Mats engineered, mixed and mastered it. Someone once said that we don’t sound like any other band. He described our sound as the 'degreed sound,' and if there’s such a sound, this is it! This is Degreed all the way…” More...

From the hopeless abyss of Richmond, VA comes U.S. Bastards, a punk/speedrock/heavy metal trio formed in 2007 and fronted by GWAR's lead guitarist Brent Purgason (aka Pustulus Maximus) along with John Kelly (Arbiter of Conceit) and Jeremy Dutra (Car Thief).
The Bastards continue what bands like Zeke, Motorhead, and Peter Pan Speedrock started with stacks of Marshalls driven by Les Pauls to blast your brains out of your ears. These dudes are loud and pissed... about what you may ask? The answer is "everything." After selling their souls to Satan for $50 and a half a pack of smokes they are coming to your town to prove rock and roll is not dead. Yet.
The "Stop Resisting Tour" begins July 4th in Winston Salem, NC to get the word out for a new full length LP coming soon from Primitive Ways Records. See the band live: More...

The pioneers of power metal and saintly pumpkin heads from Helloween recently conducted an interview with Metal Shock Finland's chief editor, Mohsen Fayazi.
In the interview with bass invader Markus Grosskopf, he revealed information about an upcoming surprise for the fans, which will be a book entitled "Hellbook." An excerpt can be read below:
"I don't really know the time when it comes out but we are working on it and details. We are collecting stuff and pictures, old and new ones, then we can correct it. It will be a kind of history book with lots of pictures, but it is going to be a little surprise."
Markus also explained the band's relation ship with Nuclear Blast Records as follows: "It is very good, it is very nice, we finally came back home. They tread us very well, we saw them on a festival, we had a few drinks together. It is nice working with them, it is nice working with Markus Wosgein. You know, it's an old metal company."

"Empress/Abscess" is the impending new full-length from Chicago-based blackened death grind misfit Immortal Bird.
Captured by Pete Grossmann (Weekend Nachos, Harms Way, Dead In The Dirt) at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, Illinois and mixed and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice, Nader Sadek, Atheist, Origin etc.) at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves in Queens, New York "Empress/Abscess" finds former drummer/vocalist, Rae Amitay, swapping in her drum stool for a full-time position at the mic with longtime live drummer, Garry Naples (Novembers Doom) taking her place at the kit.
The result is a harrowing sound excursion through the bowels of human existence picking up where 2013's "Akrasia" EP left off. In anticipation of its official unveiling next month, today the band offers up a taste of opening hymn, "Neoplastic," featuring a guest appearance by John Hoffman of Weekend Nachos. Listen in below. We have admired this label for years. We have all grown up listening to their numerous bands and releases, which have contributed to shape the very sound of what we like to call This Gift Is A Curse. A new full length album will be out in 2015. We can hardly wait to unleash it upon you!" More...
Revocation is happy to officially confirm drummer Ash Pearson as the band's new full time drummer after the departure of Phil Dubois.
Pearson is most well known for his work in 3 Inches of Blood, and is a welcome addition to the line up. Front man Dave Davidson offered the following on the announcement:
"We're very stoked to announce that Ash Pearson is our new drummer! Many of you might already be familiar with his drum skills in 3 Inches Of Blood but for those of you who are unaware of his talents let us assure you that he absolutely KILLS behind the kit! Belgium's high-energy metal outfit Prematory has decided to put all that energy to rest, issuing the following statement about calling it quits:
"We have an announcement to make that some of you might not have expected: due to several reasons, we have decided that now is the time for the Prematory journey to end. After more than 150 shows and seven years of hard work, we've hit a hurdle that we can't overcome as a united force.
"The honest truth and reason behind our decision is that it became clear to us that we simply don't have the drive anymore to keep on going. All of the members are embarking on different journeys into the future and this has lead our collective to stray from the path.
"We know that many of you were still hoping to see us live. Sadly, all current shows have been cancelled due to scheduling issues and there are no plans to do a final performance at this moment in time.
"Prematory has been a big part of our lives, we've committed thousands of hours to this band and we have nothing but love for what we have managed to accomplish. We've had an amazing time and we would like to thank all of you for this. There are no hard feelings between all the current members, the decision to end was made in mutual agreement and we wish each other good luck in all future endeavors."
It would appear the new album the band mentioned working on back in February has been scrapped. For now, enjoy going "Down The Drain" with Prematory below. More...

After guitarist Justin Lowe posted a paranoid rant on Facebook (which now appears to have either been taken down or made private) accusing the other members of various bizarre actions and effectively leaving the group, After The Burial has now issued the following statement about the situation:
"To our fans, friends and family, and everyone else who has reached out in light of Justin's recent statement. We genuinely appreciate your support and concern. This is a very sad and hurtful situation for us to grasp, and unfortunately it is one we still don't fully understand.
"Our dear friend, our brother onstage and off, has fallen into a very broken state of mind. A state that, despite our continued efforts, we have been powerless to get him out of.
"We are very sorry we haven't made a statement until now, but there is reasoning behind our decision. Early yesterday after he made the post, he went missing for the entire day. He was in minimal contact with only a few people over the phone, and the information we gathered from them gave us reason to believe he was unsafe in his current state of mind. We were on our phones all day with family, friends, and local authorities trying to regain control of the situation.
"We felt it was definitely not the appropriate time for us to make a statement, in fear that it may escalate things further. Fortunately, he's back home now. He's safe and in the care of his family.
The context of his words and the thoughts he expressed came with as much surprise to us as it did to anyone, including his family and closest friends. These are thoughts he has kept hidden from everyone very well until now, and it's so very unfortunate he felt he couldn't reach out and talk to someone about the things that were affecting him before it got to this point.
"Justin is ill, and right now he needs more than ever to be shown that the world is not against him. He needs support and love from everyone, and to know that we only want what's best for him. We will continue to support him and his family as best we can through this tough time.
"We must ask that, out of respect for friends and family, you refrain from making any comments or speculations about what's going on. We ask also that you respect the privacy of everyone involved while we work through this.
"Mental illness is a very serious matter, and we are treating it as such. If you or anyone you know may be suffering from a mental illness, the time to find help is now."

The statement in part reads: "Due to his very busy work schedule, Ville Friman is not able to join the band on this run of dates, but fans can still expect the dual face-melting, guitar hero onslaught of Vanhala & Cordle every night!"

I've tried my best to work my way around work and band and will be doing as many shows as possible. Unfortunately, I won't be able to take part in this run. In addition, the destination was announced yesterday. In 2016, 70,000 Tons of Metal will set sail on February 4th-8th from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and return to Jamaica with a stop at Falmouth.
The festival also boards a new vessel, The Independence of the Seas (via Royal Caribbean), which will accommodate four stages: The Alhambra Theater is a five-story concert hall in which they spare no expense to remove part of the (very comfortable) seating so you have a real Mosh Pit on the High Seas; The more intimate Egyptian themed Pyramid Lounge offers the local club atmosphere; The third indoor stage is in Studio B, the ice skating rink featuring a maritime version of the Arena experience and last but not least their jewel: The Pool Deck stage - The World’s Biggest Open Air Stage Structure to ever sail the Open Seas, surrounded by multiple bars and pools, plenty of room to sunbathe on several decks and even hot tubs incorporated into the Pool Deck stage to soak in while you watch the shows!.
The All-Star Jam band, which returned this past January will also be back, led by Annihilator's Jeff Waters and members from the various acts aboard performing cover tunes live.
Ticket prices start at USD 666 plus USD 348 Taxes and Fees per person and include all on board entertainment, most non-alcoholic and non-carbonated beverages, all meals in the dining rooms, most on board restaurants and even 24 hour room service.
Public Sales begin on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 3PM PDT. For more information, head on over to 70000tons.com.

The final day of a festival always seems to be the most subdued and relaxed, most likely a result of tiredness, but with such a solid lineup to look forward to, who has time to take it easy? Graspop Metal Meeting still had plenty to offer the head bangers on this Sunday, with things getting off to a great start at the second main stage, where New Zealand hard rockers, Like A Storm got things underway. This was another case of checking out a band I had never heard of and they proved well worth a gamble, as their brand of hard rock with a tinge of alternative metal was the perfect way to wake up the sleepy unwashed and accentuate a few hang overs. Like The Dead Daisies two days before, Like A Storm are all about having a good time. It's rock the way it was designed to be, a lot of fun and high energy, though they put their own, native stamp on things by utilising the didgeridoo, which believe it or not, actually works really well with their music. The instrument was first used in a solo performance, before being brought out again for their song, "Love the Way You Hate Me," and there were other surprises in store too, most notably a cover of the Coolio hit, "Gangsta's Paradise." A great way to start the day.
A little bit of Pop Evil followed, which continued the theme of enjoyable hard rock, before the day's first trip to the Marquee came, this time to check out Winterfylleth. This was another band I was unfamiliar with, despite seeing the name in passing a number of times. I assumed from the name that they were a black metal group, but there's a lot more to them than that. They display an amazing musical talent which goes beyond the simple goal of making music just to be extreme, which some bands are guilty of, and don't conform to the uniform of corpse paint and spikes out of a mistaken sense of obligation, something else young black metal groups have done from time to time. Winterfylleth are another outfit that let the music do most of the talking, which is guaranteed to win over newcomers and please fans who turned up to see these metal Mancunians. More...
