Revocation Parts With Drummer

Revocation released this message online via Facebook about parting ways with drummer Phil Dubois:

"Hey everyone, as some of you may have heard, Phil has decided to pursue other projects and is stepping down as drummer of Revocation. We've had a great nine years together and are sad to see him go. We wish him nothing but the best with his future endeavors and we're all sure that he will continue to kill it behind the kit. Be on the lookout for Phil's new project and stay tuned for more info regarding his replacement."

Phil himself had this to say: "It is with a heavy heart that I'm announcing I will be leaving Revocation. This was by far the most difficult decision I've ever made in my life, but after much soul searching I've decided that it is no longer the right path for me, so I will be moving forward to pursue new musical projects.

"I remain close friends with my brothers in the band, and support them 100% in all their future endeavors. I know such a talented group of guys will have a long and prosperous career, and I look forward to watching Revocation continue to grow and evolve. More...

Harasai Calls It Quits

Martin Wittsieker of Harasai has issued the following announcement about the band deciding to call it quits:

"Well, the rumors are true: Harasai is no more. Some of you might be able to imagine how hard it can be to give up something you've been passionate about to a maximum extent for years, which basically is the reason why we have been quiet about this for so long now. Without going into the most painful details we'd like to give you a little insight to the various factors that led us to this decision.

"For reasons everyone should have heard about already playing in a band that releases albums is a tough thing these days, but something you can still do if you're willing to invest a lot of time, love and private resources, both financial and emotional... and so we did. One thing we have learned about the music business is that your best sometimes is simply not enough. Not that we are mad about this, but it's just like that.

"Some of the music business mechanisms really became annoying to us and ruined almost all the joy and emotional benefit you can take from doing this. After 2 album recordings, sharing stage with some of our biggest heroes and countless moments of fun and magic we really think it's better to quit with dignity instead of keeping a dead man alive. Ysengrin Announces Double LP Release

Ysengrin is due to drop the "Liber Hermetis" DLP via Nuclear War Now! Productions on July 1st, 2015.

Formed in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Guido Saint Roch, Ysengrin has somewhat quietly compiled a discography that is worthy of the increased attention that it has more recently begun to receive following the release of second full-length album, "To Endotaton," in 2012.

All previous releases, including a handful of demos and splits in addition to its first album, were originally pressed in relatively small quantities and thus did not receive the more widespread distribution they deserved.

With this double-LP release, "Liber Hermetis," Nuclear War Now! seeks to correct this oversight by resurrecting the 2011 debut album, "Tragedies Liber Hermetis", along with the 2010 demo, "Alchimete," in order to share their genius with a wider audience.

Ysengrin's music cannot be as tidily categorized as many of the derivative releases that seem to litter the underground metal landscape. Rather than being easily labeled as black, death, or doom metal, Ysengrin seamlessly combines elements of all of these subgenres in the creation of its own brand of hermetic dark metal. More...

October Tide Signs With Agonia

Swedish melodic doom/death metal band October Tide has inked a record deal with Agonia Records. The band's as-yet-untitled new album, successor to "Tunnel Of No Light" (2013), is currently at the pre-production stage and is expected to be released in early 2016.

Formed in 1995 by Katatonia members, Jonas Renkse and Fred Norrman, October Tide spawned two releases: "Rain Without End" (1997) and "Grey Dawn" (1999), before going on hiatus for over 11 years.

Reunited in 2009, the Swedes continue to push their vision of characteristic melodic doom/death metal to the next level. With a new full-time drummer Jocke Wallgren (Valkyrja, Astrophobos), October Tide is fully engaged in working on a 5th studio album and first one for Agonia. On the new deal and forthcoming effort, Emil Alstermark (guitars) commented:

"During the first glance at this label you KNOW they are into metal. We have always had an good eye to Agonia Records and their great ways of spreading heavy sounds all over the world. As for the deal itself we are very pleased with the terms and conditions which are some serious shit. Agonia is a killer label and a perfect partner to October Tide. We're now finishing up the pre-production and hope to share some pretty cool stuff with you all within a near future. Stay tuned - stay doomed!" More...

Obituary Releases Animated Video "Violence"

Death metal legends Obituary have released an animated music video for the track "Violence" from their most recent album "Inked In Blood." The video, which was animated and directed by Balázs Gróf, can be viewed below.

The band commented on the video: "We had a blast creating the idea for the video and to watch Balázs animate us was a very cool experience. In the world of modern technology it is easy to shoot a music video with a camera crew and high-tech video equipment but we wanted something different. Something we hope the fans enjoy and understand that OBITUARY, though we are the godfathers of Florida death metal, don't take themselves too seriously and enjoy having fun. This cartoon is a perfect example of what kind of people we are. Not afraid to kick ass on stage but also not afraid to laugh at ourselves.

"We know that music is created for fans to enjoy and get away in their mind from the real world for just a few moments at a time and this video we hope makes them smile and laugh with us and at us."

Director and animator Balázs Gróf commented as well: "I made a video for the Hungarian band Blind Myself which went on Headbangers Ball's best videos of 2008 chart and it was seen by John Tardy, who became interested in having an animated video for OBITUARY. Eventually the long awaited new studio album Inked In Blood provided the reason for making one. More...

The process of writing and recording was new and exciting, at times very difficult for all involved, having to record in between relentless touring. Never have I been so honest in my approach to songwriting; I reveal life-long personal obstacles that I previously feared weaving into my lyrics. I'm so pleased to reveal the cover art for 'Static' by my treasured art warlock Vance Kelly. Hail Heavy Metal!" More...

Tad Morose Premieres New Video "Your Own Demise"

In 2013, Sweden's Tad Morose arose from a ten year slumber to release the comeback album "Revenant" (see review here), the debut for ex-Steel Attack, current Inmoria frontman, Ronny Hemlin, who joined in 2008. It was a rebirth for one of the most underrated and largely influential bands. Riff lord and band leader Christer "Krunt" Andersson put on a riff clinic, showing the world once again his prominence as song writer.
Now, on August 28th, the band is about to unleash the next chapter - "St. Demonius" - via Despotz Records. Today, Metal Underground.com is proud to premiere the new track and music video "Your Own Demise," which can be viewed in the player below.

The clip was directed and filmed by Richard Harryson and edited by ProVid Films, "Your Own Demise" was shot at the Trash Mansion in Bolinas, Sweden.

"'Your Own Demise" was filmed at the Trash Mansion in Bollnäs," says Tad Morose mainman, Christer "Krunt" Andersson. "It was originally supposed to be recorded at another location with some grand ideas by the director, but although we live in an era with numerous communication tools everything got real messed up and I don´t think anyone really knew what was going on, haha." He concludes, "Anyway, we picked up the pieces and completed the video in the end - just before the deadline. Pretty chaotic to say the least! Yes, we know it is another "performance video" with no fire breathing dragons, half naked girls or fire. Nothing fancy at all really, just us performing. But that´s us. METAL! Play it LOUD!"

The track listing for "St. Demonius" is:

1. Bow to the Reaper's Blade
2. Forlorn (see music video here)
3. Where Ignorance Reigns

Into Eternity commented: "At long last, we have some good news for you all! Our new album, 'Sirens' is completely finished and we couldn't be happier with the results. We're pleased to announce Into Eternity has inked a new record contract with Kolony Records! Thanks to Mr. Lorenzo Marchello for signing our band. Thank you to Joann, Amanda and the staff at Extreme Management Group for hammering out this new record deal for us. Thank you to our booking agent Rock the Nation U.S.A. for your support.

"With these new compositions, fans can expect to go on an epic journey of music and vocal melodies intertwined with aggression. Some of our very best moments and melodies are going to be represented on this new record. We are excited for our friends and fans to hear it!"

Kolony Records owner Lorenzo Marchello added: "Here at Kolony Records, we're extremely excited about the signing of Into Eternity. I've been a fan of the band for many years now. Kolony Records is a young label, but we have already launched several top-quality newcomer bands like Be'lakor, Persefone and Secrets of the Sky. Into Eternity is the biggest band we have on our roster, and we're sure we can give them that day-to-day kind of collaboration they are looking for. We can't wait to start working on the band's new album release!" More...
