Mine Collapse Posts "Mouthpiece"

The first single from Chicago trio Mine Collapse has come online - checking out the opening track to the band's self-titled EP, "Mouthpiece," in the player below.

Recorded with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Lord Mantis, Harm's Way) at Bricktop Recording, and mastered by Carl Saff (Coliseum, Sofy Major, Young Widows), the self-titled debut from Mine Collapse delves into a uniquely heavy, jagged, sludge-punk sound featuring reverb-soaked vocals.

Clocking in at twenty-two minutes, the four-song EP shows layers of frantic noise rock and doom riffage stacked atop its jazz-infused pummeling drum style.

Issues the band on the EP's lead song, "The dark lyrics of the opening track 'Mouthpiece' address the frustrations in the face of a corporatized culture and the inevitable surrender to it. -- Fleeting false hope/ Dulling the point/ Left with no other choice/ Forced down/Until we choke."

Mine Collapse has also confirmed a Chicago record release show for their debut EP, which sees the group supporting Child Bite and Snafu on July 30th.

After a successful run in January, February and March as direct support to legendary Soulfly, King Parrot will be the opening act for another pair of metal giants, Exodus and Obituary.

"All of us in King Parrot are excited to announce our return to Europe on what is one of the most prolific and legendary tours we have done to date. To get the opportunity to tour with bands of this ilk is something we don't take lightly. We'll ensure all the punters making it out early will get a 100% over the top and energetic performance from King Parrot.

"Touring with our favorite bands is something we enjoy very much, and we want to ensure that we continue to build on the fans we have made in Australia, Asia and North America. Anagnorisis Reveals New Album Details

Louisville, Kentucky-based black metal sect Anagnorisis this week announces the title and additional info on an upcoming LP, which is being completed for fall release.

Having recently completed the drum tracking, a brief trailer from the sessions at the mammoth The Tracking Room Studios has been issued. Check out the studio report below.

Further delving into ancient Greek texts for inspiration, the new Anagnorisis record bears the title "Peripeteia." While the bulk of the recording for "Peripeteia" was engineered by guitarist Zak Denham at his home studio, newly recruited drummer Cody McCoy (Cerná, Boreworm) recently tracked drums for the record at the massive The Tracking Room Studios in Nashville (Megadeth, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Taylor Swift).

Issues Anagnorisis on the concept of the new album, "'Peripeteia' is a story over thirty years in the making; a tale not just based on our vocalist Zachary Kerr's life... it is his life. We choose the title to complete the cycle, both literally and figuratively, on our narrative started on Beyond All Light, and to reference our namesake, the concept of anagnorisis. 'Peripeteia' is the reversal, the turning point, the moment immediately preceding the crucial discovery (anagnorisis). We've taken all of the hope, fear, loss, joy, anger and turned it into fifty-four minutes of music that we are excited to share with all of you this Autumn."

New album "Peripeteia" will see a fall release on LP and CD through Germany-based Vendetta Records, on cassette through Yehonala in Europe and Like Young Records in the US, and all digital formats. More...

Scour Posts New Song Online

In advance of the official detonation of a self-titled debut, Scour - the extreme metal collaboration uniting the talents of Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint etc.), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Continuum, former Animosity, Decrepit Birth), and Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention) - is pleased to unveil closing track "Tear Gas" for mass devourment.

Comments Engemann of the track: "'Tear Gas' was the final song written for the debut EP. It was completed backstage on the Cannibal Corpse/Cattle Decapitation tour last year. Every day Jarvis and myself would 'Scour' for an isolated, quiet spot to set up my portable recording studio. I remember specifically Rob Barrett walking in during the tracking of this song, and gave his nod of approval [laughs]. This song has a chorus section at the end that is unique to this album. Once it was finished, I sent it to Philip to write the lyrics. Of course, The Kid completely just nailed the chorus. 'Let the war be waged...'"

The band's six-track, self-titled debut was mixed by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Cobalt, Khemmis) and will see release July 15th, 2016 through Housecore Records on CD and vinyl formats. More...

Opeth Signs With Nuclear Blast

Update: a brief snippet from the new album in a recording video has now come online and can be heard right here.

Nuclear Blast Entertainment is very pleased to announce the signing of Swedish band Opeth. The label comments:

"Always an unstoppable force for uniqueness amid a sea of generic swill, Opeth have been setting the rulebook ablaze, and ploughing a uniquely progressive and exploratory furrow for over 25 years now. Neither conforming nor exhibiting any desire to be restricted to a single genre, Opeth, quite simply, have a time honored tradition of blowing our minds with both class and forward thinking. All these years later, nothing and everything has changed once again with their forthcoming album 'Sorceress.'"

"We're happy to confirm that we have indeed signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment and will be putting out our 12th studio album 'Sorceress' via our own imprint, Moderbolaget Records," states Mikael Åkerfeldt. "The decision was made in Markus Staiger's (Nuclear Blast kingpin) ridiculously potent Porsche going at 150 mph somewhere in the south of Germany. We're happy to be part of the NB team and look forward to a fruitful relationship."

Nuclear Blast owner, Markus Staiger, continues: "I am honored that Opeth have joined the Nuclear Blast family. Mikael Åkerfeldt and his fellow bandmates have demonstrated time and time again that Opeth are a band that never release an album that sounds the same. You never know what their new music will sound like! Nuclear Blast has been following the musical journey of Opeth from the beginning with 'Orchid' to landmark albums like 'Still Life,' 'Deliverance,' 'Damnation,' and 'Blackwater Park,' right up to 2014's 'Pale Communion!' The band have become one of the most challenging artists in rock music today. It is not often that we get to work with musicians of their caliber and I'm thrilled to have such a unique genre-leader on the label. The future for Opeth and Nuclear Blast looks very bright."
