Asatta Announces "Spiraling Into Oblivion"

Asatta is due to release "Spiraling Into Oblivion" this September 2nd, 2016 via Burnout Planet Records. Check out the song "She Died Long Ago" in the SoundCloud clip.

Formed in late 2011 by drummer Neil Pech and joined shortly after by guitarist Jay Denzer, vocalist Sean Anderson and bassist Joe Arenas, Milwaukee’s Asatta is arguably one of doom metal’s best-kept secrets.

With two EPs currently to the band's name - 2013’s self-titled "Asatta" and last year’s "Songs For A Blood Moon" - 2016 promises to bring about big things for the underground quintet.

Eschewing any temptation to simply rehash old material, Asatta instead chose to enter Howl Street Recording Studio in July 2015 with producer Shane Hochstetler to lay down a fresh batch of new tracks for "Spiraling Into Oblivion." A devastatingly heavy collection of doom/stoner rock mantras, the final set was initially carved into completion via an extensive two-year period of road testing, playing live on countless bills with the likes of Spirit Caravan, Windhand, The Skull and Ufomammut. Previously announced for a June 20th release, the upcoming Lord Agheros album "Nothing At All" has been pushed back to early September. My Kingdom Music comments:

"Lord Agheros' new album 'Nothing At All' really pushes the word avantgarde to a new level. As you know it was destined to be released within the next days but, as we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra settings to bring them up to the greatest standards of Gerassimos' project.

"So I have had to make the tough choice to delay the release date to September 2nd so simply stay tuned for the next steps towards the revelation of the first sounds coming from 'Nothing At All.' Pre-oirder here and below is the album trailer." More...

Underling Signs With Neuropa Records

Neuropa Records is thrilled to announce the signing of U.S. atmospheric black metal outfit Underling and the worldwide re-issuing of the band’s first two releases: “Breathe Deeply” and "Bloodworship.”

Formed in Northern California in 2012, by Robert Morey of Fallujah and Antonio Palermo, the group self-released one EP titled “Breathe Deeply” in 2013 and a full-length album "Bloodworship” in 2015.

Heavy Blog Is Heavy called the group “a powerful creative force that can go anywhere from here,” while Metal Sucks praised that “Bloodworship more than lived up to expectations based on their cast of characters. Best of all, Underling sound remarkably little like any of the members’ other bands; they are entirely their own beast, a lumbering mammoth-like mix of death metal, black metal, post-hardcore and post-everything.”

The reissues are set for release on July 10th on digisleeve CD and pre-orders are now available via Neuropa here. Meanwhile, this July Underling will embark on a first North American tour along with atmospheric blacl metal group Ghost Bath and sludge act He Whose Ox Is Gored.

Warpvomit Releasing "Barbaric Triumph Of Evil"

This just might be the best band name to come across my desk in an age: Warpvomit is gearing up to release the "Barbaric Triumph of Evil" LP through Iron Bonehead Productions on August 19th, 2016.

"Barbaric Triumph of Evil" is a record of two halves: on Side A is a new, otherwise-unreleased EP before Warpvomit changed the band's moniker to Crurifragium; on Side B is the "Carnal Sacrifice" demo, which was originally released in 2013.

Although only existing for a couple years before the name-change, Warpvomit verily approximated disgusting, gestatingly cyclonic bestial metal that brimmed with a weird 'n' unsettling chaos and a tar-thick density.

Side A:
1. Consecration Through The Standard Of Blood
2. Demogorgon
3. Abyss Of Torment And Damnation
4. The Vultures Circling Megiddo

Side B:
5. Carnal Sacrifice
6. Vomit Command
7. Splintered Cruczfix
8. Obsequies Of Sodomancy
9. Void Before The Altar More...

Epica Reveals New Album Track Listing

Dutch symphonic metal stars Epica recently announced the release of forthcoming record "The Holographic Principle" (due out September 30th through Nuclear Blast).

Now the artwork has been revealed and its time for the band to reveal the track listing, which will be as follows:

01. Eidola
02. Edge Of The Blade
03. A Phantasmic Parade
04. Universal Death Squad
05. Divide And Conquer
06. Beyond The Matrix
07. Once Upon A Nightmare
08. The Cosmic Algorithm
09. Ascension - Dream State Armageddon
10. Dancing In A Hurricane
11. Tear Down Your Walls
12. The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding Of Reality

The band commented: "'The Holographic Principle' deals with the near future wherein virtual reality has taken off and allows people to create their own virtual worlds which can't be distinguished from 'reality as we know it.' This raises the question whether our current reality is a kind of virtual reality on itself, a hologram. This implies the existence of a higher reality which we currently do not have access to. The lyrics challenge you to think out of the box, to reconsider everything you thought to know for sure and to be open-minded towards recent revolutions in science. Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a ride as nothing appears to be what it seems in our holographic universe." More...

Islander Reveals "Power Under Control"

Islander has announced details behind "Power Under Control," an upcoming new album set for release on August 5th, 2016. A first video for the album’s commencing track “Darkness” also comes online and can be seen below.

"Power Under Control" features the recording debut of official members Arin Ilejay (ex-Avenged Sevenfold) and J.R. Bareis (Love And Death).

Islander founding member and vocalist Mikey Carvajal was joined by Love And Death/Korn wunderkind guitarist J.R. Bareis in 2015, leading the band on a powerful new path. The seeds of this relationship were planted during 2014’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest, when word of Islander’s explosive performances quickly spread to the tour’s headliners Avenged Sevenfold and Korn - who flocked to watch the band almost daily.

Bareis, who was then guitar tech for Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch, soon found himself in the role as Islander’s new guitar player. Shortly thereafter, Islander recruited bassist Zeke Vasquez (ex-ForeverAtLast), and newly exited Avenged Sevenfold skinsman Arin Ilejay became a permanent fixture, snapping sticks and cymbals behind the kit.

“'Power Under Control' is a concept album dealing with several characters,” Carvajal explains. “The songs stand on their own, but are meant to be listened in the same way that a book is to be read. If someone were to skip the chapters in a book, the story may be exciting, but a lot of the meanings would be lost. If the listener wants to understand the meaning of each song, they can better be understood when listening as a whole rather than treating this as a buffet.” More...

King Releasing "Reclaim The Darkness"

King, an unfaltering and melancholic blackened metal force keeping the spirit of old while carving a new path, will release "Reclaim The Darkness" on August 26th.

The band came into existence in 2013 with founding members Dave Hill and Tony Forde. After finishing the pre-production in their own studio, drummer Dave Haley joined the line up to complete King and took the demos to Crawl Space studio where he spent the following weeks working, arranging and recording the drum parts for the album. In the following weeks the final guitars bass and vocals were completed.

Tony Forde comments, "We're extremely excited with the way the recording and mixing of the album has turned out, Joseph at Crawl Space managed to capture the true essence of King throughout the entire process. Sahg Reveals New Album

In a time when threats of religious hostility and environmental decay loom heavily over the world, we have no choice but to acknowledge the inevitability of death. Not only does it spread fear, stigma and hatred, but it also reminds us of the grasp our own mortality has on us.

Death is just a heartbeat away and our fear of the unknown is apparent now more than ever. Thus the title "Memento Mori" was chosen for Sahg's new album coming September 23rd via Indie Recordings.

For a long while, the album title remained undecided. “Memento Mori was one of several options that we had on note for a long time," comments vocalist/guitarist Olav Iversen. "But then Lemmy died and Bowie died. All of a sudden, all these rock icons disappeared - one by one. These people made their imprint on history and influenced us musically since childhood. It made a great impression on a personal level, and started a grieving process that influenced the making of the album. Suddenly it was very clear what the album title would be. Even immortal legends like Bowie and Lemmy don’t live forever..”

Following last year’s departures of drummer Thomas Lønnheim and founding member Thomas Tofthagen, Sahg faced existential challenges. Olav Iversen comments: “at that point it seemed like Sahg was heading towards the end. But we turned around and came out stronger than ever, with this album as our testimony. Still, we got a feel of how fragile existence is, Sahg is still alive. Memento Mori is living proof of that.”

The change in lineup came as a blessing in disguise, as it allowed Sahg to explore new avenues sonically. Olav Iversen and Tony Vetaas are joined by guitarist Ole Walaunet and drummer Mads Lilletvedt, who both hail from the more extreme end of the metal genre. Their aggressive approach was decisive in shaping the sound on Memento Mori. More...
