Pit Stories: The Harry Potter Scar
If you were hoping for the follow-up to last week's Vow Of Thorns pit story about a crazy show in Orlando, sadly I've got to let you down: Panzerfaust hasn't sent me the other half of the tale yet!
We've got something just as good though, as Australian group Be'lakor has got in touch to share a tale from the pit in which an overzealous fan getting injured in the pit led to a very happy ending indeed:
Many years ago, we were playing a lot of local shows in Melbourne and routinely had quite a few regulars show up. One of these guys would really get into it—head banging, shouting and, as is tradition in Australia, heckling the band. On one occasion, he was moshing with such reckless abandon that he struck his forehead on the fold back monitor. He split the skin open pretty deeply, there was a lot of blood and it left a Harry Potter scar on him. This didn’t slow him down one bit though. Fast forward to 2016 and this guy – Elliott – has now joined Be’lakor as our new drummer. He’s a wizard behind the kit!
Be’lakor os a progressive/melodic death metal band from Melbourne that will release fourth album, "Vessels," worldwide through Napalm Records on June 24th. The full album has also come online for advance streaming and can be heard right here. More...

Deny The Cross Releasing "Alpha Ghoul"
Powerviolence collaboration Deny The Cross joins current and past members of Spazz, Black Army Jacket, Agents Of Satan, Municipal Waste, and Discordance Axis.
The project will release vicious eighteen-track debut, "Alpha Ghoul," this summer via Tankcrimes Records. Paying its respects to the likes of Assück, Napalm Death, Raw Deal, Crossed Out and Gauze, new album "Alpha Ghoul" is appropriately short, fast and loud.
Guitar, bass, and vocal tracks were captured by Greg Wilkinson (Pallbearer, Vastum) at Earhammer Studios in California with drums recorded by Chris Pierce (Rorschach, Night Birds) at his studio in New Jersey.
"The inspiration behind getting this band going was simple," relays vocalist Carlos Ramirez. "We wanted to write songs that sounded like early to mid-'90s powerviolence and grind, mixed with some NYHC and crossover influence. Since we've all known each other for decades now, we knew we could all get on the same page in terms of the writing of this record. The concept of the 'Alpha Ghoul' is someone who sucks out the energy of everything, and everyone, around them, and never giving anything back in return. We all know a few of these types of human leeches. Scotty Heath has built such an inspiring label with Tankcrimes, and being part of that history is truly an honor."
The "Alpha Ghoul" album, which includes cover art by Mark McCoy of Charles Bronson, will be unleashed via Tankcrimes on July 29th, 2016 digitally and on vinyl with the first pressing limited to just 100 copies. More...

Pequod Releasing "False Divinity"
Pequod's "False Divinity" draws inspiration from an era when equal influence could be drawn from Morbid Angel and Slayer, when thrash wasn't a dirty word to a death metal freak, and when memorable songs meant more than the endless race to be faster or more ludicrously guttural.
"False Divinity" is a churning, double-kick-heavy midtempo crusher of a release, with its blast beats and divebombing whammy bar solos, quick picking and stop-on-a-dime changes, and a nonstop assault that gives the release its heart-attack intensity.
The album was mixed by Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed, Necrophobic) at Chrome Studios and mastered by Peter In de Betou (Meshuggah, Opeth, Amon Amarth) at Tailor Maid Music Production. The track listing is as follows:
1. False Divinity
2. Flaying Demon
3. Malicious Joy
4. Pride of Creation More...

Judas The Dancer Releases New Video
Italy's post-metal metallurgists from Judas The Dancer are proud to present their new new video single titled "Post Pop Violence." The single is taken from an EP of the same name, which will be released in September. The new video was again directed by Visceravisions and can be seen below.
Asked about what the term "post pop violence" represents, the band commented: "Post pop violence is, before anything else, the only expression we could describe our sound and approach to composition: easy and listenable music, raw at times, depravated for the most part, groovy and enjoyable, irrespective of the genre. This song condenses this spirit somehow, so it deserved the title."
The inspiration for the song came from the band wondering "how much wine could have been consumed during the Last Supper? How raving the words of Christ could have sounded to the Apostles, despite all (it's claimed) they had seen him performing. It became a joke and the rest came by itself. The video is an extension of this story, with a brutal, gorish hint from Visceravisions. Sam Raimi mixed with the Gospels. Nonetheless it remains a joke and shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's just post pop violence after all."
Judas The Dancer plan to release a song every two / three weeks prior the official release of the EP in September. The group adds: “Next one will probably be 'Judas Saves,' which is one of the first song we wrote together and a sort of 'proclama' of our thoughts about what the world is becoming… More...

Colosso Releasing "Obnoxious" Album
Portugal-based metal band Colosso has announced the "Obnoxious" album is coming September 9th, 2016 and a teaser trailer can now be heard below. The following press release was also issued about this upcoming album:
"Playing death metal with a new vision, their sound is breaking the shackles of the style, as Colosso innovate and involve elements dissonant and industrial. While most bands use the black metal template, Colosso merge the abstract sounds into a coherent death metal template, one that seethes and squirms with shades of darkness.
"A mesmerizing epic, 'Obnoxious' is an immersive album from start to finish, remaining unpredictable yet consistently superior. It will go down as one of the most daring and ambitious albums in the style this year - a vision so profound and brilliantly executed is bound to change the perception death metal has. Colosso remain proudly indulgent, self-sufficient and confident of their new sound."

Ghost Toast Releases New Video
Instrumental outfit Ghost Toast's new video for the song "Gordius" has come online and can be seen below. Ghost Toast has released two albums so far: "Toast in the Shell" from 2011 and "There is no En..." in 2013. The band comments:
"We are currently working on our third album, which is so far untitled, but two songs are already completed, and for one of them a video was shot recently. The song called 'Gordius.' We have used two projectors in a concert room to project the video material we usually use at our live shows right at ourselves, thus giving some insight into what our live acts look like.
"Interesting fact about the projected video material is that it was compiled from many (30+, in fact) clips from videos available on the internet, created by various artists and amateurs, distributed under the Creative Commons licence - which enables us to use them, of course with proper credits in place.
"The song itself got its title from its musical diversity, but during the creation of the video material we realized that the idea of human complexity is very appropriate for it as a general theme, thus it became the concept of the projected videos used during the shooting." More...

Anthrax Posts "Zero Tolerance" Video
Celebrating 35 years as a band, 2016 is proving to be a very good time for thrash metal icons Anthrax, and the festivities are intensifying. Today Anthrax is releasing the third lyric video from latest album "For All Kings," this time for the track "Zero Tolerance."
This song closes out the album and its message is very personal and particularly timely in today's society, with the horrific rise in mass shootings and other forms of terrorism. In the words of Anthrax lyricist Scott Ian, "'Zero Tolerance' sums it all up. It's about doing anything to protect your small circle of family and friends from the insanity of the world."
Anthrax's 35th anniversary year will also see the band spending the bulk of June, July and August playing major music festivals throughout Europe. These will include France's Hellfest and Download, SwedenRock, Graspop in Belgium, and the UK's Bloodstock, as well as playing select dates with Slayer, Iron Maiden, and a handful of headline shows.
Then, the 35th anniversary will culminate beginning September 9th in Cleveland when Anthrax will join forces with Big Four comrades Slayer for a seven-week North American tour of major and secondary markets. This trek will also include appearances at several major North American music festivals including Ozzfest Meets Knotfest on September 25 in San Bernardino, CA. More...
