Problem Of Pain Signs With Blood & Ink

Michigan hardcore band Problem Of Pain now officially joins the Blood & Ink Records roster to release debut album, "Burn What My Hands Wrought," on 07/29. The label comments:

"Problem Of Pain packs more of a punch than most bands in heavy music — and they do so with only two members. Composed of Garrett Finch and Jake Beaver, the two have been making music and playing shows for just over a year now. But don’t let their youth — or size — fool you: Problem Of Pain is here for a purpose."

“We want to break down formats and thought processes to challenge others to think critically, and even counter culturally,” shares Finch, who plays guitar and serves as co-vocalist. “[Our goal is] to use art as an expression and outlet of the inner dissension that I process daily. Embodying these thoughts through the sounds that we create with our ‘experimental’ sound; and the lyrics we write gives way to be honest with not only others, but also ourselves.” More...

Binary Code Posts Playthrough Videos

Last week, New Jersey/New York-based progressive metal outfit Binary Code released new full-length album "Moonsblood."

Binary Code also recently promised fans some gear-related videos, and today marks the launch of the first two. Take a look at playthroughs for the tracks "Immersion" and "Dark Meditations" below.

Guitarist Jesse Zuretti states: "My guitar partner in crime, PJ Spilletti, and I both used our brand new Mayones guitars in the videos. I can tell you right now, playing our songs a bajillion times has never been so easy because of those guitars. These guitars are cheat codes to our playing. I'm using a Mayones Regius 7M with Bare Knuckle Pickups (Juggernauts), and PJ is using a Mayones Duvel Elite 7 with Seymour Duncan Sentient/Nazgul pickups."

Regarding the unique visual effects on the videos, Zuretti adds, "We filmed the play-throughs for 'Dark Meditations' and 'Immersion' with Nick Kusworth, who also does great work for Heavy Blog is Heavy. He used some really cool techniques for 'Dark Meditations', using an actual prism for this cool kaleidoscopic effect. We picked some cool lighting effects; the color gels we chose were picked for the mood of each song." More...

White Empress has parted ways with vocalist Mary Zimmer as work begins on a new album. The band comments:

"Morning guys. Heads up that new stuff will be up very very soon. First up will be the new photo shoot we did for the new direction, track and video to follow. We are just about to start writing the new album (we are all very excited about the new direction) to come out on Peaceville Records. Once that is done festivals will be booked. Ill keep you all posted to the very awesome future that is install for WE. New management, new booking and new blood, damn awesome. You will LOVE it!!!!!"

Mary Zimmer also issued this statement (see video below) on her Facebook page: "So, it's not easy for me to post this but the attached video is me announcing my resignation as the singer for White Empress. It was not an easy decision to leave the band, but it was necessary. I decided to make a video for you guys so that you could actually hear the tone of my voice as I'm speaking about my reasons. My most poignant statements are toward the end of the video. This time, I'm not giving up or taking a break from music like I did for the years between Luna Mortis and White Empress. I'm launching a new band right away with Erik EazyTattoos Lockaby called Santa Marta: The Band and the first video teaser is at the end of my video below. Also you can click on the link and check out the band page and more.

"Please watch this video to see what I have to say...I do mention this in the video but though I have left, I did still complete the upcoming EP for White Empress with photos and videos. I've already told them that I'd be fine if they wanted to release the EP with me on it, though, I have officially resigned. Basically I wasn't planning on quitting, so I'd love to see the hard work and time we put into the EP come to fruition, regardless. Largely, I'm cool with everyone in the band still and I'd like it if you'd still show them your support and avoid the online shit-talking. Please especially show your support to Adam Sagan as he continues his battle with cancer. Thank you all so much for everything and here's what I have to say:" More...

The journey commences tomorrow in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the 71 Grind Fest. From there, Immortal Bird will trample through twelve more cities with death grind merchants, Theories, including a stop at Crucialfest in Salt Lake City, Utah June 18th.

Volur Signs With Prophecy Productions

A Devil's Din Streaming "Nature Of The Beast"

A Devil's Din is made up of 3 musicians born in the Old World who traveled across the ocean to find each other in Montreal, QC where they were drawn together by a mutual love of melodic, innovative, inventive and daring rock / metal tinged music.

New album "Skylight" is set for official release on June 17th to take fans on a new trip. Check out the album single "Nature Of The Beast" below. Vocalist / guitarist David Lines comments on the track:

"'Nature of the Beast' is one of the heavier tracks on our album and with a title like that, you'd expect that! But the beast in question isn't anything out of the bible, it's about the beast we all know and hate: bureaucracy! It sort of came to me while I was on hold with the phone company. Nature of the Beast, indeed.

"Sometimes a phrase or expression is enough to get me going songwriting-wise and 'Nature of the Beast' was no exception. It's a really heavy, deep, multi-layered saying. "What's the Beast? Why is that its Nature?" Musically the song starts with an interesting rhythmic guitar chord sequence, ran through a phaser and Space Echo with haunting lead bends echoing off in the distance, creating a dark, hallucinatory setting. Then everything drops out for a fast almost chromatic guitar riff, which kicks into overdrive and busts open like a ton of bricks.

"Maybe it's a bit of a formula for us, like Genus Novus and WARGASM! from the first record, but we love to start off with a spooky, trippy vibe before unleashing the heaviosity. It makes for a more interesting listening experience, at least we think so! We like the music to go places and not be so obvious. Maybe it requires more attention to get into to it, but for us, it's way more compelling." More...

If you like what you hear, you can pre-order the full new album right here and find more info on Skeleton Wolf at Facebook here.

Guitarist Brett Schlagel also had this to say about the new track: "'She’s Insane' was the second sound that was written out of the songs from the album. This track is a headbanger, for sure. It’s more mid-paced than some of the other songs we have on the album and definitely has a very driving fist-pumping feel all the way through. The tune sounds like something you might catch on an album from the band I. It seems to be a favorite of a lot of radio stations that have been featuring our music." More...
