Child Bite Checks In From The Road

Detroit noise rock unit Child Bite is currently in the midst of a massive North American live takeover and the van just keeps on rolling. The band recently wrapped up a tour with Voivod alongside labelmates King Parrot and is currently crumbling stages from June 24th through June 30th, again with King Parrot.

Two Child Bite-only dates will close the tour on July 1st and 2nd. From there, the band will head home to do laundry (maybe) before taking to the streets yet again with Michigan hardcore thrash punks S.N.A.F.U. from July 27th through July 31st.

In August, Child Bite joins Lord Dying, Black Fast, and Joel Grind for a massive thirty-six date journey that runs through September 29th. You can't stop the madness!

"Oh sweet Freddy Krueger in the sky," comments vocalist Shawn Knight, "many dark thanks for blessing us with twenty-eight fucking Voivod shows. Coolest dudes ever and of course some of the raddest prog/punk/metal jams to ever come out of this universe, or galaxy even. Which of those two is bigger? I'll look it up later. Any who, we can't sit around sobbing in our oatmeal due to Voivod-withdrawal. Us and King Parrot still have a week or so to go, and then we do more, and then more. More is good, right? Sleep is overrated so we might as well cart our fleshy vessels around this continent a few more times this year."

While you wait for Child Bite to pillage your city, let bassist Sean Clancy teach you how to play "Video Blood," from the band's recently-issued "Negative Noise" full-length. More...

"Turncoat," the latest full-length from long-running rock trio Throttlerod, is out today via Small Stone Recordings and streaming below. Comments Throttlerod vocalist/guitarist Matt Whitehead of the release:

"While there's no denying we like feedback and odd time signatures, we also enjoy hooks and undeniable grooves and there are plenty of those on this record. [Engineer] J. Robbins [Clutch] not only helped us realize our vision with an honest, organic approach that helped remind us why we still make records but was also an absolute pleasure to work with. We need to write some more new songs to have an excuse to go hang out in his studio again."

South Carolina residents can catch Throttlerod live tonight and tomorrow with additional live performances to be announced soon.

Soilwork Posts "Helsinki" Video

Soilwork just released one of the two brand new songs off an upcoming special collection of rarities titled "Death Resonance," which is due out August 19th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast.

Watch the lyric video for "Helsinki," created by videographer Tommy Antonini, in the player below. Commented guitar player David Andersson:

"Death. It's a word that might be used too often, but it can still be interpreted in a myriad different ways. It's not just the soma being deprived of its lifeforce; it's also the end of infinity, the birth of new possibilities and the acceptance of inevitable change. This song was written soon after the recording of our live album in Finland, making new friends and making sure that the old ones stay with us forever, despite the fact that everything is finite."

Memoriam Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast proudly announces the signing of death metal band Memoriam. Founded in January 2016 by Karl Willetts (Bolt Thrower) and Frank Healy (Benediction), the band will release a debut album in 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records. Memoriam comments:

"The war rages on... It is with great pleasure that Memoriam announces that we have signed a recording contract with Nuclear Blast Records. Throughout our long careers, 30 years to be precise, within the music industry and specifically within the death metal scene we have witnessed the growth of Nuclear Blast records to become the number one record company within our genre.

"When we started Memoriam back in January 2016 we intended just to form a band to go into the rehearsal rooms to jam out some cover versions of old classic songs that had influenced us in the past along with some cover versions from the bands we had played with over the years, and maybe eventually do a few low key gigs.

"With the introduction of Scott Fairfax into the line up all this changed, Scott has brought with him a wealth of killer riffs and new ideas which has totally changed things around from our original intentions. Very soon we decided to scrap the idea of being a covers band and to formulate our own songs using these riffs and ideas that Scott introduced to us, and from this we developed a whole load of new crushing brutal old school death metal songs which we are very proud of and can’t wait to unleash upon the world!

"When we started developing the songs we talked about the possibility of signing to a label and releasing an album, at that point we all decided that if Nuclear Blast approached us we would sign to them. This is because amongst all the labels out there none have a better relationship with the bands on their roster, none communicate better with both the bands and the fans of the music. None care as much about the music and the scene as Nuclear Blast Records. Nuclear Blast currently boasts the best artist roster of all the labels within the death metal genre, we are proud and honoured amongst this list! 2016 is the year of MEMORIAM. Let the resistance begin..." More...

Witherscape Posts "In The Eyes Of Idols"

Witherscape has now launched a second single from upcoming sophomore release, "The Northern Sanctuary," which is arriving July 22nd, 2016 via Century Media Records.

Check out the lyric video (designed by Cloud Music Typography) for the extremely catchy "In The Eyes Of Idols" below. Dan Swanö checked in to comment about the song and the album's lyrical storyline as follows:

"There is a 50 year jump in the conceptual time line since 'The Inheritance.' 'The Northern Sanctuary' picks up where we left off with the 'The New Tomorrow' EP. The main character Mannen i vitt (The man in white) has now restored the house where all the horror initially happened and Fristaden i Norr (The Northern Sanctuary) is open for business!

"He rents out rooms to people from the big cities, who are aiming for some peaceful northern Swedish silence. But the entity still haunts the house and Mannen i vitt is possessed by it, so consequently he/it does terrible things to the patients. Since the house is built on one of the gates to hell, there's a ritual taking place, opening the hellish dimension from where the evil entity once came, so it can go back there..." More...

Vanhelgd Announces New Album

The Swedish masters of aversion and forlorn from Vanhelgd return with "Temple Of Phobos." While still firmly locked into that unmistakable Vanhelgd sound, it is clear that on "Temple Of Phobos" the band has steered into a much more despondent territory; very reminiscent of the early ‘90s doom.

The album was recorded and mixed at Studio Underjord with Joona Hassinen (Year Of The Goat, Saturnalia Temple, Ocean Chief), mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio (Watain, Repugnant, Desultory), and once again features the ominous artwork by frontman Mattias "Flesh" Frisk.

All Else Fails Posts "AntiMartyr"

All Else Fails just released a new political message with a video for "AntiMartyr," which can be seen below. Vocalist / guitarist Barrett Klesko comments:

"It's been a long road since we released 'Fucktropolis' almost 4 years ago, and since then we have been in almost constant member changeover hell. Some of it was good, like bringing back original drummer Ryan Biggs, but some, like losing our long time bassist Seedy Mitchell was much harder.

"We have a new bass player, the new album written and in pre-production and it is sounding fresh and awesome, but it was important to us to release 'Antimartyr' as a full single first. With that, it wouldn't have felt right with Mitch's voice coming out of the new guy’s mouth in the video, so we talked him into coming back for one last project, and I'm really happy with the turnout, it seems like a great way to send off an album that treated us so well, and move on to the next grand adventure. Hopefully one that won't take us another 4 years to follow up."

Third Ion Premieres "Lesson Burned"

We're very excited for this premiere today as we've teamed up with one of the most promising new bands to emerge on the metal scene last year: none other than Third Ion!

Just slightly over a year on from debut album "13/8 Bit" (reviewed here), the group now has a new vocalist (ex-Annihilator member Dave Padden) and will be releasing second album "Biolith" on July 8th.

With that release date nearing, today we're exclusively premiering new song "Lesson Burned," which is the sixth out of eight tracks on "Biolith." The band comments:

"'Lesson Burned' was one of the first songs written for this record, and it's still one of our favourites. There are fat grooves, nutty tech parts that are super fun to play, and it showcases Dave Padden's power and vocal range. Lyrically, it centers around a dissatisfaction with the things around us that we let rule our lives. Technology, religion, banks, etc. It doesn't target any of these things specifically, but has an overall dystopian tone." More...

Schemata Theory Premieres New Music Video

The new Schemata Theory EP titled "Networks" officially drops today - June 24th - and can be picked up at the U.K. group''s official website here.

With the EP out now, Schemata Theory has teamed up with us to exclusively premiere a new music video for closing track "Horror Show." Check out the trippy performance vid below.

Vocalist Myles Dyer also comments on the track:

"Human civilization is currently threatened by many global issues, causing our traditional political and economic systems to come under immense pressure. This has in turn fuelled a great sense of frustration, anger, distrust and despair among much of the world’s population, creating societal divisions internationally. Technology has improved our awareness of what is wrong with the world, but it has also enhanced our ability to communicate and empathise with others far & wide.

"'Horror Show' represents that moment in life many of us have experienced, where we realize the severity and scale of these issues we face as a species, and thus worry about what can be done to resolve them. It is easy to feel powerless as individuals, but if we utilize technology on an industrial scale that empowers collaboration and unity, we can turn this all around."

The "Networks" EP's track listing is as follows:

1. Our Only Home
2. New Vision
3. Horror Show More...
