Pit Stories: Enthusiastic Teens, Calm Adults
In recent weeks we've explored quite the range of show stories, including an epic drunk journey to see the Misfits, a truly violent farewell show, and a sad case of a mosh pit turning on the hardcore kid.
Today's Pit Story comes courtesy of psychedelic outfit Suns Of Thyme. Drummer Jascha Kreft shares these memories of teenage enthusiasm and more restrained adults trying to have a good time:
The most exciting mosh pit I ever experienced during a show of mine that was with my very first band back in my hometown in the most provincial backwater in northern Germany 10 years ago. I remember about 200 or so 14 year old teens "moshing" their hearts out (for most of them the first time I guess), falling on the ground constantly, older attendees laughing about them but enjoying themselves.
So far it seems to me that the audiences in Berlin are a little more calm, or more into themselves or just spoiled but there are exceptions. I had my last proper mosh at a concert of Fuzz. People were hanging from the ceiling right from the first song.
Suns Of Thyme recently inked a deal with Napalm Records and is gearing up to release new album "Cascades" on May 27th, 2016. More...

Motorhead Posts "Overkill" Live Video
Motorhead's recently announced live set "Clean Your Clock" - featuring one of the band's final performances together at the Zenith in Munich, Germany - will hit stores on Friday, June 10th via UDR Music.
You can pre-order the set here and today, you can watch a brand new live concert recording of "Overkill" from "Clean Your Clock" below.
There will be no more Motorhead tours because Lemmy is no longer here, and many, many people did not get a chance to hear the band one more time on what proved to be the last-ever piece of road work. This makes "Clean Your Clock" a vitally important release: it is both a celebration and an epitaph, glorious yet not without melancholy, maintaining the warmth and curve of Motörhead's unique live sound. GWAR Posts New Q & A Video
The scum dogs of the universe are working on a new album and have decided to announce it in properly bizarre fashion with a new episode of Pusty's Mailbag. The band comments:
"Day after day we are bludgeoned with an onslaught of lame questions and it's time we answered the most important one... Yes, GWAR has united itself to record yet another disasterpiece and it has been secretly in the writing phase for months in a crackhouse of seclusion in the northside of Chicago. A due date for the record has not been decided but the band is grinding out what may prove to be their most savage and bloodthirsty tracks to date.
"The Scumdogs are also currently searching for a producer that is brave enough to risk their life to give them the tones of the gods to make this next record stand as a testament to the next era of GWAR.
"We had found out about this information while watching the premier episode of Pusty's Mailbag where, apparently, he's taking time out of his day to host a show where the festering giant reads your letters. Watch the clip below as it may contain clues to the future endeavors of GWAR, including this year's highly anticipated GWAR B-Q, set for August 20, 2016 in Richmond, VA." More...

"Ever since their creation in 2008 in Montpellier (South of France), Weaksaw have played sincere brutal and melodic metal. Weaksaw have released two Eps in a positively thrash core style, '13 X 13' (4 tracks) in 2008, and 'The Overture' (6 tracks) in 2009, both recorded at Trendkill Studios.
"Their first album, 'Weaksaw,' was released in 2012 by Klonosphere / Season of Mist. With this album, their style changed into more radical, darker, more violent and technical direction. In early 2013 'James Hudson Jr' was released, marking the affirmation of Weaksaw’s style, with more direct, ambient songs, charged with brutal emotion. More...
Hobbs' Angel Of Death Signs With Hells Headbangers
Today Hells Headbangers announces the signing of Australia's legendary Hobbs' Angel of Death. The first fruit of this union shall be the band's long-awaited comeback album, "Heaven Bled," which will be released this fall by Hells Headbangers.
Helmed by one relentless maniac named Peter Hobbs, Hobbs' Angel of Death is one of the more unsung cult favorites of '80s metal. Hailing from Australia many years before it was cool to do so, the band released two classic demos in 1987, "Angel of Death" and the telltale "Virgin Metal Invasion From Down Under," before time came for the inevitable debut album.
That album, 1988's self-titled opus, was released by Steamhammer during the label's glory years, and quickly found a devoted legion of fans enthralled to Hobbs' Kreator-meets-Dark Angel style of deathrash. It would be many years before a follow-up, 1995's "Inheritance," and the band broke up not long after. More...

Revocation Announces "Great Is Our Sin"
Revocation's new album "Great Is Our Sin" is coming July 22nd via Metal Blade Records, with the label boasting this is the band's "most dynamic, boundary-pushing and weighty release to date."
The first song from the album entitled "Communion" is available for streaming below, and you can also pre-order at this location. Frontman Dave Davidson commented on the first track: "'Communion' is the fastest song we've recorded to date and while it's blistering in terms of speed there are also some proggy elements present to add contrast to the aggression."
Reuniting with producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Bleeding Through), who also helmed "Deathless" and 2012's "Teratogenesis" EP, the record packs the requisite punch, yet retains the organic feel with which it was conceived.
While the songs come together to make for a cohesive record that is engaging from front to back, they are further united by the lyrical concept penned by Davidson. The title itself appropriated from Charles Darwin's quote: "If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin," Davidson went about building a theme that was not only fittingly expansive, but also had real resonance with regard to contemporary society. "The concept revolves around the folly of man throughout the ages. Some themes come from historical references that are hundreds of years old, yet sadly these themes are still very relevant today due to mankind's refusal to learn from the lessons history has taught us, time and time again."
