Rotten Casket Releasing "Emerged From Beyond"

Underground Movement has set June 27th as the international release date for Rotten Casket's "Emerged From Beyond" collection.

"Simply Rotten Death Metal" is how the five Dutch old-school deviants of Rotten Casket would describe their soundg. Made up from ex-members of Death Squad, Pulverizer, Deifecation, Bloody Remains, and Caedere, they have been blasting a name for themselves in the European underground for the past couple of years, creating a heavy, scathing, and devastating racket by taking the listener on a trip back to the crushing sound of late '80s Swedish death metal.

"Emerged from Beyond" consists of both Rotten Casket’s sold-out cassette releases remixed and now on one disc, with over 56 minutes of pure death metal. The track listing is:

1. Morbid Transgressions
2. Glorious Gruesome Murder Manifestations
3. Unknown Graves
4. In Search of the Perfect Skin
5. Culpable Homicide
6. Emerged From Beyond
7. Vortex of Insanity
8. Falling Skies
9. Breed of Osteophagia
10. Leeches of the Cross
11. Drowned in Darkness
12. Tangled in Gore More...

Toska Announces Self-Titled Release

Hailing from the truly cold climes of Iceland, the unnamed members of Toska strafe ears immediately with an unrelenting, savage interpretation of influences ranging wildly from early Dodheimsgard to Funeral Mist to Windir – all vocal chaos, percussive insanity, and melodic sensibility in overflowing measure.

The black metal of Toska is fueled by “an inexplicable force that one can also find in the dark majesty of Mother North,” where in response to that force, these musicians “transmit the whispers of spirits dwelling in the night skies.”

While Northern nature remains the muse for the sonics, lyrically Toska instead takes inspiration from Tadeusz Micinski, a Polish poet known for his apocalyptic vision and mystical awareness.

So prepare yourself for majesty, madness, bedlam and beauty, all entwined, as Eihwaz Recordings proudly presents this self-titled first EP from Toska on May 15th. The track listing is:

1. From The Starless Night
2. Night I - Algid Gales
3. Night II - Throbbing Tumulus
4. Night III - Iced Spectres
5. Spirits Of The Winter Moon
6. Night IV - The Howling Descent
7. Night V - Blizzard Tales More...

Black Crown Initiate Streams "For Red Cloud"

Pennsylvania's purveyors of metal from Black Crown Initiate have unveiled a brand new track today titled "For Red Cloud" - listen in below (stream provided courtesy of MetalSucks.net).

It is the first bit of new music we've heard from the band since the release of a previous LP in 2014. Black Crown Initiate will release "Selves We Cannot Forgive" on July 22nd, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne). "We've been through a great deal as a band since our last release," says Thomas. "We've grown a great deal as writers, players, and people and put everything we had into this one."

A Quick Chat With Moonsorrow's Mitja Harvilahti

Moonsorrow has become one of the most popular names in pagan metal over the past sixteen years, developing an epic sound that practically brings the bloodthirsty Vikings back from the grave. Their music has become beloved not just by metal fans, but by lovers of classic rock and indeed history buffs, fascinated with the research that goes into every song.

During their recent tour with Korpiklaani, (see review here,) I was able to fleetingly sit down and speak with the band's guitarist Mitja Harvilahti, who discussed the group's new album, "Jumalten Aika," it's cover artwork and how it feels to top the charts in their native Finland. Eluveitie Announces Major Lineup Split

Swiss folk metal act Eluveitie announced the departure of drummer Merlin Sutter, vocalist Anna Murphy and guitarist Ivo Henzi from the band in what is described by Murphy as an "impossible situation."

The band will play out the next few shows with Sutter, Murphy and Henzi and then other performances the band has committed to, incuding Wacken this August, with replacement members before retiring for a while to solidify a new lineup.

The official band statement reads: "With a heavy heart we have to announce that Eluveitie will go through another change soon. We have decided to part ways with our longtime drummer Merlin Sutter. In the consequence of this, Merlin's close personal friends Anna Murphy and Ivo Henzi decided to leave Eluveitie as well.

"We all developed a lot over the last ten years – not only as a band, but also as individuals. And we partly developed in different directions; different goals, wishes and ideas emerged. Over the last years we all had to deal with interpersonal challenges within the band. Instead of pulling together, our days have rather been shaped by wearing friction and constant clash of interests. And thus we felt that we have become something we shouldn't have; that we've diverged from what Eluveitie was always meant to be – a band, a family, a passionate and deep-rooted group of musicians, where heart's blood can flow freely! Eluveitie was always meant to be about 'rock'n'roll,' passion and also about 'carrying the torch' of the Celtic spirit. Yet over the years we have partly diverged from our roots, which is not good.

"Each and every single one of us is definitely a passionate musician! But in this group constellation, we seemed to rather cumber, than to inspire each other. The band has suffered from this for a longer time now.

"So we ended up in this painful situation where the mentioned facts have made it impossible to us to continue like this and we came to the point eventually, where we believe, it's best to go separate ways. More...

Dying Fetus is currently on the road headlining the "Metal Alliance Tour" with support from The Acacia Strain, Jungle Rot, Black Crown Initiate and rotating openers Reaping Asmedia and Nylithia.

During the May 3rd Illinois stop of the tour, the band received what they considered a very interesting request. One of the band's biggest fans recently passed away and as a final wish, he had asked that his ashes be scattered on stage during their show. When the band ripped into Nick's favorite song "Homicidal Retribution," the band honored his wish and did just that.

"We just scattered nicks ashes in the pit for his favorite song, 'Homicidal Retribution,' may he RIP. Rest in the pit \m/", commented the band on Twitter.

Prior to this tour that band was busy in the studio recording their latest release for Relapse Records. Once the "Metal Alliance Tour" concludes the band will finish the long anticipated eighth studio release. Album name and release date is TBA. After the album is complete they will embark on an extensive Europe run that will include headline and festival dates, all of which are listed below. More...
