Reasons Why Your Band Sucks And Will Never Make It
When I browse around for unsigned bands, it's hard to find one that I like. Mostly since most unsigned bands lack a record deal for a reason. It's that your band just plain sucks horses. There are exceptions and there are bands who never get a record deal who deserved one but most of the time, most bands just suck too much to ever go anywhere.
Here are the main reasons why I've hated nearly all unsigned music that I've listened to. More...

President Obama Mentions Finnish Metal
At the Nordic Leaders Summit arrival ceremony today in the white house, President Obama spoke about innovation from various countries, including remarks about heavy metal culture in Finland.
You can watch the full ceremony below (the part about metal starts right after the 6:30 mark) and a transcript of the entire speech is available here.
Obama commented: "I do want to point out that Finland has perhaps the most heavy metal bands in the world per capita, and also ranks high on good governance. I don’t know that there’s any correlation there. Thanks to Nordic innovators, we share our music on Spotify, stay in touch by Skype, and millions spend what would otherwise be productive hours on Minecraft, Angry Birds and Candy Crush."

Brujeria Takes On Trump
The extreme metallers from Brujeria are currently putting the finishing touches on their fourth album release and Nuclear Blast Entertainment debut.
Recently, the band released an exclusive 7" single for Record Store Day, which sold-out instantly in stores everywhere. Today Brujeria is offering that 7" release, which includes the songs "Viva Presidente Trump!" and "Pared De Muerte," for sale digitally.
"The song 'Viva Presidente Trump!' was on shelf for years with no idea for vocals," states vocalist Juan Brujo. "It was gonna be an 'Anti-Castro' part II song but nothing came out of it. It just needed proper motivation to go and attach itself to someone... and Trump came thru!
"I see Trump as the white Republican version of Juan Brujo circa '93. Wanting to start shit for the hell of it! That's why it's called 'Viva Presidente Trump!' We both want same thing! So much that I want to be his running mate!" More...
Equilibrium Announces New Album
The German epic metal pioneers from Equilibirum will set aflame a brand new bonfire this summer with their fifth studio album.
Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost two years working on this new opus called "Armageddon." The result is rather dark, yet remains the bombast and folk elements of the previous records.
This time, the album was recorded, mixed, and produced by René himself and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Los Angeles). The cover artwork was again created by Skadi Rosehurst.
René states: "Once more, Skadi created a wonderful piece of art, which captures the more darker atmosphere of 'Armageddon' perfectly. As on the album, you can discover a lot of details in the artwork as well. Skadi's style - traditionally drawn motifs become one overall picture digitally - fits marvellously to our music. Again and again, it's an exciting feeling if the music becomes even more concrete and livelier by the artwork."
New album "Armageddon" will be released on August 12th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Stay tuned for more details! More...

Throneum Announces "Morbid Death Tales"
After five years, Polish death metal cult Throneum will return with seventh album, "Morbid Death Tales," on Hells Headbangers. On "Morbid Death Tales," fans can expect nothing but raw, ugly and morbidly tuned nightmarish death metal.
On the album's last two tracks, Mark of the Devil from label mates Cultes Des Ghoules contributes guest vocals to fill the mood of an old graveyard.
Throneum was formed in deepest dungeons of Hell back in 1996. Influenced by thousands of '80s and early '90s death and black metal, Throneum is one of the most well-known pure underground bands to hail from Poland. They should need no further introduction for most true blackened death metal fans.
The band proclaims, "If you aren't into Necrovore, Sadistik Exekution, Mortem, Order From Chaos, Imperator, Asphyx, Mayhem, and Merciless - keep away from Throneum! That's pure total death!"
An official release date, cover, and track listing for "Morbid Death Tales" shall be revealed shortly. More...
Scarred Parts Ways With Vocalist
Luxembourg-based group Scarred just checked in with this announcement about parting ways with the band's vocalist Sacha Breuer:
"This next announcement was a difficult one for the whole band. As of today Sacha will no longer be the vocalist of Scarred. The decision to part with him is purely based on musical differences.
"We thank him for all the investment, work and dedication he had put into the band up to this point and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
"This unfortunately means as well that we’ll have to cancel our show at the Rock Eco Green Festival the 28th of May. A replacement has already been found and we’ll announce the new vocalist soon." More...

Agalloch Calls It Quits
All good things must come to an end: Agalloch has officially called it quits. The group posted this message online via Facebook:
"Following 20 years, 5 full length albums, many tours around the world, and numerous other recordings, John Haughm and the rest of the band (Don Anderson, Jason Walton, and Aesop Dekker) have parted ways.
"What the future holds for the separate parties remains undetermined. We collectively thank all of our fans across the world. There are also way too many other people to thank who made this band possible. You know who you are."
During its two-deacde run, Agalloch released five full-length albums and a host of singles, EPs, and compilations. The band's last studio album was "The Serpent and the Sphere" from 2014.
Update: John Haughm has now posted this message online about the split:
"After being inundated by a barrage of responses, I feel that I should clarify some things. I take full responsibility for the decision to part ways with the other guys. It was difficult, well thought-out, and something that had been culminating over the past couple of years. I simply could not continue any further with the band as it was. I had to make a change as my motivation and inspiration had started to completely deteriorate. Whether this is the permanent end of Agalloch altogether or a possible fresh start, I don't know. I probably won't know for awhile. The band has simply been reduced back to its founding, visionary member for the first time in 20 years. Beyond that, the future is unknown." More...

Hatebreed Discusses Album In New Video
Music places us in time, it provides a snapshot for our lives, we remember where we were, what we were doing and what was going on in the world when we hear a particular song.
In years to come, Hatebreed's "The Concrete Confessional" (in-stores today) will likely prompt memories of the upheaval that is taking place in our world today, from terrorist attacks to the most outrageous Presidential primaries in America's history.
In a brand new video clip Jamey Jasta talks about what he'd like fans to take away from the new album. "I'd like people to listen to the new album and have it spark a new thought, have a conversation with somebody about it, be human and embrace the experience." More...

The Browning Releasing New Album
The Browning could very well be heavy music's answer to the Terminator. Whereas everybody's favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger cyborg hid an endoskeleton under a sheath of skin, the Kansas City quartet-Jonny [vocals, electronics], Cody [drums], Brian [guitar], and Rick [bass]- thinly veil a hard rock edge beneath a casing of skittering electronic dance music, hip-hop grime, metallic brutality, and industrial expanse.
New album "Isolation" arrives on June 24th, 2016. "Over the course of the last three years, rock music is primarily all I've listened to," Jonny explains. "I've been ingesting bands like Rammstein, Disturbed, and Three Days Grace. My writing swung towards that. I knew this album was going to have more of a rock vibe. Obviously, there's still metal, but the scope has expanded. The electronics remain a big part of it. Since day one, the whole point was to not only be the heaviest electronic band, but the band with by far the most electronics."
He furthered, "Isolation is by far the best album The Browning has done yet. It has everything I wanted in it and nothing is missing. It shows how the band has progressed and matured since our last release. So, I cannot wait for the world to hear it." More...

Nothing Lies Beyond Announces Debut Album
When you think of the Middle East, metal isn't exactly the first thing that springs to mind. But if you where to think about metal, one band that probably springs to mind is Orphaned Land. Well there's more than just that band! Introducing the latest edition to a fledgling metal scene... Nothing Lies Beyond. A band that's been around a couple of years now, slowly building a name for themselves in the back alleys and clubs of Tel-Aviv, graduating in performances alongside their peers such as Children Of Bodom and Dark Tranquility.
The band have been holed up in AG studio recently and have come to the surface with a blistering melo-death album entitled "Fragile Reality." Nine tracks of hook laden melodic death metal that would make you swear you were listening to something from Gothenburg from the early nineties. Except with a modern finesse. With songs like "Never Back Down" and "We Are The Revolution" this is a statement of intent from the young quintet. Check it out for yourself - the band issued the first single "Final Fight," which can be heard in the player below.
Drummer Ariel Lior comments, "This album means a big achievement in the band's history. From the early beginning, as the co-founder of the band, we always believed in the potential of the music that we made. The album is really a turning point, from being a small local band in the rehearsal studio... to what we are today." More...

Apocalypse Orchestra Signs With Despotz Records
Sweden's "best kept secret", the exciting medieval metal outfit Apocalypse Orchestra has signed with Sweden's fastest growing label, Despotz Records.
The sextet, who hail from the Baltic Sea region, and utilize non traditional instruments such as lutes, bagpipes, the mandola and even the hurdy gurdy, have one leg entrenched in medieval times and the other firmly in modern metal.
Apocalypse Orchestra was formed by mult-instrumentalists Mikael (Vocals, guitars, mandola, lute and cittern) and Erik (Hurdy gurdy, mandola, bagpipes, backing vocals) who developed a bond over their mutual love of the unlikely combination of folk music and doom metal. With a foundation of original music and lyrics the duo also decided to incorporate melodies stemming from as far back as the 11th century, the goal was to create a musical homage to a long gone era.
The songs tell stories of plagues, of hell and the senseless acts of war and suffering, all while weaving a romantic era thread combined with the crushing modern metal mentality that only Apocalypse Orchestra can deliver.
The band says, "We are very happy to commence this cooperation with Despotz Records, It feels like the next logical step for us today. Despotz have shown that they understand the band and our music and have shown complete confidence in us."
Despotz Records' Omer Akay says, "Apocalypse Orchestra is Sweden's 'Best Kept Secret' and we couldn't be prouder than to have them with Despotz."
Apocalypse Orchestra have begun recording their debut album in various castles across the Swedish countryside and expect the album to see a release later in 2016. More...

Turnstile premieres a new animated music video for the track "Addicted", taken from the band's latest album "Nonstop Feeling". The clip was created by Elliot Bech.
States the band: "Elliot Bech created everything in his own style. He brought the video to life with frantic back-and-forth animation that’s at one moment childish and fun, and the next, dark and perverse. The song is about over-dependence and discontent. It’s about the battle for the super drug."
