Seven Nines And Tens Returns With New Album
Tomorrow (May 13th) will mark a new official single release from Vancouver outfit Seven Nines And Tens as the band gears up to drop impending album "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Slums."
Before we exclusively premiere that new track, we checked in with the Canadian band to find out what has transpired in the intervening years since the release of previous full-length album "Consants & Axioms" and the intervening single "I Come From Downtown."
Check out the full interview below and prepare yourself for the new album to drop later this coming summer.
xFiruath: “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Slums” is a really interesting title (and a bit of a mouthful!). What inspired STCFTHOTS as the title?
Living in a slum for the past 10 years (Vancouver, Downtown Eastside) inspired the title. It's also play on the title of a classic song by a classic, classic band. I can't disclose all my secrets here!
xFiruath: More broadly, what sort of overall lyrical themes and ideas are you dealing with on the album?
It’s one man’s perception of daily life in a densely populated ghetto. I didn’t grow up here but I’ve been here 10 years. This part of town is definitely my muse. The album isn’t a concept record but the environment in which it was written I feel permeates the sound.
xFiruath: Is this going to be an independent release or do you have a label/distro lined up or in the works for this album?
Dullest Records from Lansdale PA, USA is releasing it on CD. Their owner Danny Katz is a rad guy and we have a ton of mutual musical interests. I sent him the first single "I Come From Downtown" and his response was "this is how the last Alcest record should've sounded!" I took that as a huge compliment as Alcest is a huge influence.More...

Rogue Records Seeking Bands For Fallout 4 Mod
Rogue Records America is now accepting hard rock/heavy metal music submissions for a Fallout 4 radio station mod called Rogue Radio. The in-game radio station will launch in Fallout 4 next month on Steam, Xbox One and PS4.
Bands of any size can submit their music (16-bit lossless uncompressed WAV file), along with a bio and Facebook link, via the Rogue Records Facebook support page here or via email at dean[at]roguerecordsamerica.com. The music submission period will end on May 30th.
"The whole idea came about because I got to thinking on how we attain, collect, use and sell music and how it is changing," commented Rogue Records America owner Dean Martinetti. "It's only natural, in my opinion, to think about new ways of discovery as well. The idea to take our artists and put them into video games was really a no brainer for me; I've been in the game industry for 17 years. This was to just be a radio station for all our artists, and then I thought 'I know a LOT of bands and I know of a lot of bands that are dying for exposure like this...I should see if they want in.'" Silent Planet Posts "Panic Room" Video
Progressive metalcore unit Silent Planet has unveiled a brand new song and video this morning. “Panic Room” is an epic, emotional and dark sonic journey through the mind of a soldier returning home with PTSD. The video reflects this struggle and is a intense interpretation of the outer life and inner life of this veteran.
As vocalist Garrett Russell says, “'Panic Room' examines the inner reality of the soldier after suffering instances of violence, hierarchy, and resulting cognitive dissonance. The song was inspired by a close friend of the band who shared his story with me while we were in studio working on this record.
"The song attempts to examine with a greater culture of war, held aloft by politicians who patronize soldiers as talking points while cutting bills that could provide soldiers with mental health services and entering into needless, preventable armed conflict. Panic Room tells the story of one veteran who attempts to retain his sense of humanity while being suspicious of his role as a cog in the history’s strongest war machine.”
With the release of this video also comes news of a 7/1 release date for Silent Planet’s new album "Everything Was Sound" via Solid State Records. Recorded by Will Putney (Northlane, Miss May I) the album promises to be even headier and diverse than 2014’s "The Night God Slept" album. More...

"'Vengeance' is the rabid pitbull on our new album," says vocalist Jake Gerstle. Directed by Wilson Bambrick, this is in fact the very first music video the band has ever released. "We found the perfect location to shoot the video in an equally intimidating setting - a quarantined, asbestos-riddled and abandoned wing of a pub from the northern suburbs of our hometown in Brisbane, Australia. Let's see some circle pits forming when we hit your town!"
The Schoenberg Automaton will release "Apus" on June 3rd, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne) / Lifeblood Inc. It was produced by Shane Frisby (The Ghost Inside, Becoming the Archetype, Unearth). The track listing is as follows:

"This record tells a lot of stories," said vocalist Elias Soriano. "Going from guts to glory. Chasing impossible dreams down the rabbit hole. Harsh and honest words with consequences attached. Uncovered rules for the weak, made by the wicked and heartless. Recalling fight or flight moments with a deep breath. And it all starts with a warning to all the world's generations past, present and future to look up, look forward and live their lives loose from social media shackles, online bullying, the devaluation of art and music, and to not be absorbed by the dramatic, megalomaniacal side of politics. Life is right outside of your phone and newsfeed. Go live it and play this record while you do. It'll all start to make sense."

Phil Anselmo's Scour Releases New Track
Among the most anticipated "supergroup" collaborations of recent times, Scour unites the talents of Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint etc.), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Continuum, former Animosity, Decrepit Birth), and Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention).
Together they conjure a harrowing strain of blackened, grind-infused sonic murk. The band's six-track, self-titled debut was mixed by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Cobalt, Khemmis) and will see release July 15th, 2016 through Housecore Records on CD and vinyl formats.
In the meantime, check out opening track "Dispatched" below. Comments Anselmo: "Doing the Scour project was a blast. The track, 'Dispatched' was the first one I attacked, as it was the first one sent to me. Lyrically, I leave it to the listener to evaluate, as usual. The way I saw it, the songs were short, and extremely straight-forward, so I didn't want to clutter 'em up with too much.
"Therefore, I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. Hope all true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project... Much love to all." More...

Binary Code Streaming "Dark Meditations"
New Jersey/New York-based progressive metal group Binary Code will release new full-length offering "Moonsblood" on May 24th. Today the band is sharing a third new track, "Dark Meditation," which can be heard below.
Guitarist Jesse Zuretti states: "'Dark Meditation' is a song that I oddly enough wrote shortly following my first time doing DMT, and starting Transcendental Meditation. I'm not a hippie by any means, nor am I a psychonaut, but I am a firm believer in expanding perspective. The instrumentation in 'Dark Meditation' is a perfect representation of an expansion of perspective, which I think is something you can't push to happen; it happens naturally, and it happens when it happens.
"I was in a very dark state of mind, having dealt with a crippling bout of depression and my experience with this mental expansion lead me to a breaking point where I could finally be comfortable with the person I was becoming. This transposed greatly from perspective into the music I started to write. Many of the people who are familiar with our music have said to me that they are surprised by the transition the band has made, but there's also a familiarity with it. I attribute that much to being responsible for the majority of the songwriting during the time where I made it passed an event horizon."
The upcomign album was engineered and mixed by Eyal Levi (August Burns Red, The Contortionist, Monuments) at Audiohammer Studios and mastered by Alan Douches (Suicide Silence, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge) at West West Side Music. The track listing is as follows:
1. Immersion
2. Trees 100ft Underwater

4. Moonsblood
5. Knell

Despite Posts "Synergi" Title Track
Sweden’s Despite has revealed the cover artwork and details for upcoming album "Synergi," which will be released worldwide via Eclipse Records on July 22nd, 2016. "Synergi" contains 13 powerful songs of progressive, melodic death metal produced by Oscar Nilsson (Engel) at Crehate Studios.
The cover artwork was designed by the band’s singer Peter Tuthill, and it perfectly captures the album’s concept as a whole. Vocalist Peter Tuthill explains: "'Synergi' touches many subjects that we feel need more attention in this harsh world that we inhabit. Every song has a meaning, and they’re all pieces of the big jigsaw puzzle, so to speak.
"The title 'Synergi' isn’t just the Swedish spelling for the English counterpart synergy. 'Synergi' puts the self, the 'I' in the bigger picture. We chose to do this to signify that every single individual on this planet is a cog in the greater machinery. For change to happen, we all need to start thinking along the same lines, without borders. There’s no racial divides, no genders; there’s only humanity. We need to start taking care of our world, ourselves, and the other species we live alongside, before it all goes BOOM." More...
