Netherlands Posts "L.M.M." Video
Having been described as everything from “a new wave of metal pop” (Noisey) to “super fuzzed stoner rock” (CMJ), NYC’s distinctive sludge/soul-inspired outfit Netherlands is thrilled to announce the “Audubon” album will be released through Prosthetic Records worldwide on June 17th.
Pre-order bundles including the album on either CD or white variant vinyl (limited to 300 copies) paired with an exclusively designed t-shirt can be purchased now at this location.
Recorded with Tom Tierney (Tidal Arms), “Audubon” is a three-dimensional moody, noisy, sludgy juggernaut, solidified over nine tracks of murderous riffage and infectious hooks. The trio recently teamed up with Sami Jano and Steve Meierding to direct the arcade-esque music video for new single “L.M.M.” - check it out bleow.
"'L.M.M.' is what we call one of our hybrid bangers," commented Netherlands frontman Timo Ellis, “It’s distinct from many of our other often less melodic, more brutal numbers. Sami and Steve brilliantly conceived and executed this video and and I’m extremely stoked and grateful to have worked with them on this!”
Denouncement Pyre Releasing New Album
Hells Headbangers has set July 22nd as the international release date for Denouncement Pyre's third album, "Black Sun Unbound."
Three years have passed since the release of "Almighty Arcanum," which saw these long-running Aussie tyrants evolving well beyond their blackthrashing beginnings and locating a balance between aggression and atmosphere.
A band statement reads: "'Black Sun Unbound' is the most challenging album we have created so far, and we have certainly ventured further into the inner darkness with the new material, through a long and demanding creative process. The writing and recording of this album involved a lot of experimentation, and we have seen a vast range of ideas included, more so than past releases; it is a different album to the first two. Expect new doors to be unlocked and old gods to be awakened!"

Hells Releasing "Paradise" EP
Hells will launch the "Paradise" EP on May 13th via Seeing Red Records, with the artwork and track listing available below. Seeing Red also comments:
"Relentlessly negative and aggressively earsplitting, Philadelphia's Hells create a sound that forces you to take notice. Together for only two years, Hells has quickly built a solid reputation as a consistently intense live band fusing different styles of modern and classic metallic hardcore while maintaining an original aesthetic often missing from their peers.
"Formed by members of Orchid, Transistor Transistor, Brain Dead, Wolves, Sore Saints, Psychic Teens, Heathen Reign, among others, Hells cultivates a sound from a variety of influences and ideas to create a their own uniquely pissed off brand of hardcore.
"2016 sees the release of debut EP 'Paradise' on Seeing Red Records. Recorded by guitarist Brad Wallace at the bands' practice studio in the Port Richmond neighborhood of North Philadelphia, Hells brought the grime and manic energy of their surroundings into the studio with them. '1-800-SHITFIT,' a frantic slab of start and stop hardcore ala Cursed boasts 'I want to be asphyxiated, that will make it all okay' while closer 'Night Creeps' spends almost 4 minutes pummeling your ears with a monolithic downstroked guitar intro before crescendoing into a catchy mid-tempo verse riff that brings to mind that glory days of DRI amongst other crossover legends."

It’s a bit more complex than our previous albums and it has got a bit of a different sound than the older ones, a bit more alive like a band and maybe not always as studio corrected as our earlier material. However, the foundation of the music is still what we’ve always done and the key elements are pretty much the same but with some new additions and a few new twists and turns of course." More...

Deadlock Reveals New Album Details
Following news that Margie Gerlitz has been confirmed as the band's new singer, Deadlock now reveals details on an upcoming studio album.
"Hybris" is set to be released on July 8th via Napalm Records and turns out to be a multi-faceted monster in terms of both shape and content. At the same time it painfully digs through the latest events in the Deadlock camp. Despite the tragic death of founder and drummer Tobias Graf (immortalized with a moment of silence on the album) and the departure of singer Sabine Scherer (now replaced by Margie Gerlitz), the megalomaniac creative urge could not be suppressed.
Sebastian Reichl comments on the album: "'Hybris' is both powerlessness and hope, melancholia and confidence united, accounting for the past in the truest sense. The effort to meet your demons, to forgive and to find salvation with your own history. The release of dammed aggressions and wash away all fears. Put all wrath and anger in music and lyrics to fill with new passion. This is all what 'Hybris' symbolizes and you can feel it every second on the album. It was our longest trip. Giving up was never an option."

Meek Is Murder Finishes Work On Album
Meek Is Murder has completed the tracking of fourth full-length album "Was" with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Nails) at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts. "Was" is set for a July 15th release.
Mastering will be handled by Alan Douches (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Tombs) – the team of Ballou and Douches is the same team that has recorded all of Meek Is Murder's albums.
Says drummer Frank Godla: "Kurt Ballou and Alan Douches are masters of their craft, and truly understand the amount of grime appeal we look for in records. Since our debut album, Algorithms, we decided that these two would handle all our full length recordings. We think of them as friends, and companions to our band. So when we started writing Was, naturally the next step was to get in touch with Kurt and Alan, there was never a question or conversation about it."
Guitarist/vocalist Mike Keller says the album deals with time, memory, and the processing of experiences – not so surprising from a band with a Back to the Future fixation: "Typical humans, we think about the past a lot. We romanticize it to reconcile a disappointing present. We re-write history so it reads the way we wish it went. We black it out when it's just too much. And worst of all, we forget. It's a struggle to appreciate the good things or recognize the negative ones at the time they occur." More...

Deceased Re-Releasing "Fearless Undead Machines"
Deceased's "Fearless Undead Machines" - originally released in 1997 - is now getting a new edition arriving on June 10th via Transcending Obscurity Classics. The label comments:
"'Fearless Undead Machines' is one of the landmark albums in the thrash/death metal style. While the first two Deceased albums were great, this one just took the band to another level altogether. The surreal zombie concept was phenomenally well done and executed; each of the songs reek of that dread and pensive heart-throbbing atmosphere.
"The solos continue to be incredibly memorable and inspiring, the vocals shudder with that rare horror-themed conviction, the drumming remains brisk and vibrant throughout, while the guitarists paint a thrilling image of the post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world with some of the most sublime riffs any metalhead will ever hear.
"Few albums have come close to the ambitious storytelling skills and majesty of this one. Even fewer sound as fresh and exciting a couple of decades later. This is a veritable classic.
"The original artwork and sound have been retained on this official reissue authorized by King Fowley, and contains special liner notes and pictures that weren't present in the first pressing. Experience an unforgettable classic in its original glory all over again.
This is the second release on the new sub-label, Transcending Obscurity Classics, after Greek death/crust metal band Abyssus' "Once Entombed" earlier this year year. More...
Fractal Cypher Posts "Prison Planet" Clip
Fractal Cypher's debut album set for release later this year, was produced by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis), and will be comprised of 9 songs.
Today the band is giving fans a taste of what's to come with the premiere of debut track "Prison Planet." Listen in below. Guitarist Vincent Bruneau comments:
"'Prison Planet' is the first song we wrote when we started the band. Definitely the most straight forward song of the album, with catchy melodies and a conventional structure. I’d say Prison Planet is a good blend of what people can expect from the rest of the album. Catchy choruses, heavy riffs, good solos and great melodies. We tried to reach both the progressive and mainstream audience with this song, which offer just enough of technicity and complexity. you just can’t help to bang your head on this one!"

Slomatics Reveals New Album Details
Black Bow Records is pleased to announce that doom/fuzz/sludge rockers Slomatics will release new album "Future Echo Returns" on September 2nd, 2016. Pre-orders are online now at this location. Black Bow also comments:
"Whilst the tide has come in and gone out and come in again on the shores of heavy music, Slomatics have patrolled the surf, unmoved by the shifting sands, unflinching in their dedication to tone and riff. True pioneers of what we call sludge and doom, blending elements of psychedelic rock, conjuring images of overgrown celestial bodies marshalled by undiscovered extraterrestrial entities. Name any heavy band from the last ten years and you will find Slomatics as a crucial ingredient in their own primordial soup, whether they are listed as an influence or not. Essential, irreplaceable, impeccable and peerless heavy music. Influenced by the past, here in the present, echoing a vision of the future..."
The band had this to say: "We're really excited about the new album. It's the final part of the three album sequence we started with A Hocht, and hopefully brings together all the aspects we've touched on with that record and Estron. This one is more of everything, and feels like our heaviest and most diverse so far. The narrative of the previous two records ends with this one, so there's a sense of finality throughout. We were delighted with the recording process both in Skyhammer and StartTogether, and trust us, if there was an amp or synth in either studio, it's on this record." More...
Dead Register Streaming "Alone"
Gothic-tinged doom rockers Dead Register just revealed a new track titled "Alone." The song, which is taken from new album "Fiber," is an epic nine-minute track reminiscent of bands such as Type O Negative, Soundgarden and Pinkish Black. The track was previously released in a demo version.
Vocalist M. Chvasta commented "The demo version of Alone seemed to resonate with a great number of our listeners. We’ve had some direct requests, rather DEMANDS, that we include this tune on our first album… So, since we have the capacity to exercise kindness, we did."
If you missed it, Dead Register also recently gave us a very interesting pit story about crowd surf fingering... and the avoidance thereof. Check it out here. More...

I couldn’t be more proud of this new amalgam of themes, ambiances and surprises that appeared along the process of carving this new composition. I like to call them happy accidents. That’s what the beauty of writing and composing is all about.
"I’m also very happy that the story of a long forgotten library made his way to my curiosity. With this theme, I was able to pay an ode to those ancient thinkers, to the beauty of books and history. Three things that have been fascinating me for a long, long time. Enjoy!" More...
Divebomb Records Inks Deal With Helion Prime
Fast becoming home base for an elite squadron of U.S. heavy metal troops, Divebomb Records is proud to enlist science-centric Sacramento, CA power metallers Helion Prime to a growing roster that already includes such acts as Wulfhook, Zephaniah, Everthrone, Final Sign and Judicator. Helion Prime's self-titled full length debut album will see release via Divebomb Records on August 12th.
First conceived through a common love of heavy metal and science, Helion Prime was born in 2014 when Dire Peril guitarist Jason Ashcraft joined forces with Graveshadow vocalist Heather Michele to forge a new project—between the two, résumés boasted work alongside such greats as Andy LaRocque (King Diamond, Death, etc.), Mark Briody (Jag Panzer), Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear, ex-Gamma Ray, etc.), Niklas Isfeldt (Dream Evil) and Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers). The name Helion Prime was borrowed from an alien planet featured in the 2004 film The Chronicles of Riddick. The concept? Power metal thematically based on actual scientific theories—with the occasional sci-fi tribute thrown in for good measure.
Their debut EP, "The Drake Equation," followed in 2015, and Helion Prime's lineup eventually solidified with the addition of Jeremy Steinhouse on bass and Axiom's Justin Herzer behind the kit. Almost precisely one year later, the group returned with a self-titled 10-track full-length: independently released by the band in mid-February of 2016 and already out of print!
Divebomb Records has now stepped in to help Helion Prime expand upon the growing popularity by granting wider exposure to this epic album, packed with all of the fast-paced, high-energy guitar acrobatics one would expect from a power metal quartet—not to mention Heather's uniquely soaring vocal harmonies—alongside a bounty of raging riffs that should appeal to fans of melodic Swedish death metal and traditional heavy metal fare alike... plus a few other surprise twists and turns to boot! Within The Ruins Enters Studio
Massachusetts metal veterans Within the Ruins has entered the studio to begin recording a new LP for release later this year. The band will record the new effort from their own studio with producer and guitar player Joe Cocchi at the helm. Vocal production will take place at Zing studios in Westfield, MA with Jim Fogarty (Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada).
"The writing process was a bit different for this album," says Cocchi. "We took a step back and kind of reviewed some of our older material. Typically we'd rush and blast out a group of songs and then hit the studio. At the time it felt right. And It had a more organic feel. Now because of a combination of maturity and honestly just feeling sick of the same old formula, we really focused on creating something different sounding."
The yet to be named album will be the band's followup to the critically acclaimed Phenomena LP released in 2014. Cocchi concludes, "We went back to a more organic style of writing and production. I personally was finally able to abandon a lot of my writing habits or 'rules,' if you will. No more 'oh, that part doesn't really sound like us, have to change that,' type of bullshit. Doing that created a fresher sound. This is the most raw and extreme sounding material we've ever written. Keep an eye out for studio blogs and more updates."
Stay tuned for further updates.
The Agonist Inks Deal With Napalm Records
Montreal's The Agonist announce that the band has signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records.
Guitarist Danny Marino commented on signing with Napalm Records: "We are thrilled to start the next chapter of The Agonist with Napalm Records! Since recording 'Eye of Providence' we have been exploding with creativity and are set to record our best record to date. We've been working non-stop on the material on and off the road and now after four albums we have really found ourselves. Vicky and I seem to operate on a hive mind where we know exactly what the other is going for in the writing before it happens. It can actually be freaky sometimes. We are also very excited to be recording this album with Mike Plotnikoff. His experience and input will really help take our sound to a new level."
Napalm Records A&R Demetri Benoist said about the signing of The Agonist: "We are very excited to be working with The Agonist, this is a new chapter. The Agonist are poised to take it to the next level. Getting them in the studio to work with Mike Plotnikoff was a no brainer. Mike is going to push the envelope and help bring out their best. Napalm Records is committed to making the new album their most successful."
The band is currently in the studio with producer Mike Plotnikoff to record their new album shortly. Plotnikoff produced, engineered, and mixed Buckcherry's very successful "15" record, Otep, Like A Storm, Escape the Fate, Halestorm, Drowning Pool, Theory of a Deadman, 3 Doors Down, Black Stone Cherry, Fear Factory, Flyleaf, Skillet. Above Aurora To Release Debut "Onwards Desolation"
With menacing blackened doom, Poland’s Above Aurora will announce themselves to the world with the debut record "Onwards Desolation." Out 27th May from Pagan Records, the band has revealed the track list and artwork of the release.
Six tracks drift from atmospheric doom to propulsive black metal, building tension and releasing it in barrages. The ebb and flow of their darkness is hypnotic, lulling the listener into a state where the band can cast their ominous images into the mind; guitars create a loose, eery mistiness as the rhythm section controls driving counter-melodies and percussion. These songs have a formidable heft to them. Vocals do not take center-stage, but blend with the darkness around, giving them an unsettling character. The presence of this human voice does not comfort; its rough-edged tones instead form an uncanny face for the tracks, familiar enough for us to let the darkness in.
More details including pre-orders and glimpses of the record will be announced soon. The track list for "Onward Desolation" is:
1. Vortex
2. Open the Wounds
3. Descending
4. Eradication of Light

Kamelot Releases "My Therapy" Video
Kamelot released a new music video for the track "My Therapy," the latest clip from the band's 2015 album "Haven" (see review here).
"My Therapy" serves to put a spotlight on social anxiety that effects up to 20% of adults worldwide. Kamelot vocalist Tommy Karevik adds: "The original idea of the song was based on experiments done years ago on children where they would be clinically taken care of, but never held, loved or nurtured. The outcome was disastrous and proves that in this sometimes complicated world spinning faster and faster, the very foundation of our health and well being really rests upon something very simple and uncomplicated... The human touch...."

Hideous Divinity Releases New Music Video
Hideous Divinity premieres a new music video for "Cobra Verde" today. States the band:
"The surrealistic, soaring visions populating Herzog's 'Cobra Verde' haunted our songwriting like a nightmare, and inspired the concept of our second album.
