Lesnevsky adds: "The song is based on the story of the inner struggle of a person, who got lost doubting himself and searching for the way out. Whom is he engaged with in his dialogue? Maybe it's himself responding? Or a close friend? Or maybe another unwitting witness? Everyone will hear their own story."

Ancient Taps Jonathan Garofoli For Festival

Ancient will blast the main stage of Under The Black Sun Festival in Börnicke (Germany) on Saturday July 2nd.

Due to touring commitments with Brujeria, the band's drummer, Nick Barker, is forced to step out from the festival. Ancient has announced that he will be replaced by drummer Jonathan Garofoli, known from his performances with Melechesh, Naer Mataron, and many others.

Ancient frontman Zel comments: "We are very lucky to have found Jonathan to play with us, not many can dare to try filling in the shoes of Nick Barker, but this guy kick some serious ass!"

Jonathan's Comment on collaboration: "Sometimes life is sweetly tricky, one day you're listening to an album of a band you like and after years you're playing with that band! Should sound kinda crazy but it's not, actually is what happened to me right now since I got the proposal from Ancient to get the role to step behind the kit to play at Under The Black Sun Festival 2016! To me its a true honor to have been recruited by such a respectful and historical ensemble like Ancient, I'm pretty sure our collaboration will create and establish some real musical magic!!!"

The long and storied history of Ancient was recently covered in our Sunday Old School column here, and a new album titled "Back To The Land Of The Dead" has been repeatedly delayed over the last year. Stay tuned for more info on the release.

Fates Warning Posts "Theories Of Flight" Preview

In light of the upcoming release of the much anticipated 12th studio album, "Theories Of Flight" via InsideOutMusic on July 1st, U.S. progressive metal pioneers Fates Warning are launched an album sampler video, containing excerpts from all songs on the album.

Check out the clip, which features footage entitled 'Feeding The Gulls' by Dennis Hlynsky, in the player below. The album is available for pre-order at this location.

Vocalist Ray Alder checked in to comment about "Theories Of Flight" as follows: "We began writing the music for 'Theories' while we were still touring for 'Darkness'...
I believe that the anticipation to write another record was due to the fact that we were once again touring and playing new material after nine years of playing the same songs.
It was exciting to be on stage again and we looked forward to getting back in the studio.
I also believe that our fans were happy to finally having something new to listen to..

"I/we are very happy with the way that 'Theories' turned out. Jim and I collaborated practically every day on the new album for over a year until we actually went into the studio.. There were many different versions of the songs until they were finally complete, and I believe it shows in the final product. I think that Jim did an excellent job producing the new album. The material is, I believe heavier than what people are used to from us, as well as my vocal style. We wanted something different than "Darkness" but something that still carried a lot of melody."

The track listing for "Theories Of Flight" reads as follows:

1. From The Rooftops
2. Seven Stars
3. SOS
4. The Light And Shade Of Things
5. White Flag
6. Like Stars Our Eyes Have Seen
7. The Ghosts Of Home
8. Theories Of Flight
