Interview

Fear Factory Reconstruction Part 2

Following up with what Rex_84 did with Dino on Fear Factory's spring tour, it felt right to cover the rest of Fear Factory's history with Burton C. Bell as he is the sole member of Fear Factory to be present through the band's entire history.

We touched on Obsolete, touring with Machine Head and what exactly goes on at Gathering of the Juggalos which actually managed to viscerally disturb Burt. My main regret was not asking about the World Magnetic Tour with Metallica but the tour manager was watching me like a hawk the whole time and counting the minutes and I wanted to be concise so I cut that question out but thankfully everything else I wanted to ask made it in. Seventh Xul Streaming EP Release

Today the entirety of Seventh Xul's "Qliphotic Rites of Death" comes online ahead of the May 27th release date via Iron Bonehead Productions.

Originally recorded in 2010 but never properly released, "Qliphothic Rites of Death" is a true gem of the black/death underground, and made all the more infamous and mysterious due to Seventh Xul disbanding right after its release.

In the band's own words, "The Ayin of Creation and Destruction Forces crowned this effort, and the necromantical vision took form in 2010 only for this release. The band split up immediately, as we felt that this was our only goal from the beginning. A unique release serving that period of wondering & isolation..."

Grey Aura Announces New Album

Dutch black metal threat Grey Aura proudly presents debut album "Waerachtighe beschryvinghe van drie seylagien, ter werelt noyt soo vreemt ghehoort."

Due out June 3rd, the album deals with the story of Dutch explorer Willem Barentsz (c. 1550 - 1597), who tried finding a northeastern passage to Asia. On his third and final attempt in 1596, Barentsz and his crew got stuck in the ice near the mysterious, desolate island of Novaya Zemlya. The crew was forced to construct a home made of driftwood and parts of their ship in order to survive the harsh Arctic.

In order to bring the actual events to life, Grey Aura fused layered black metal compositions with theatre, using voice actors and recording samples outdoors. Artist Thomas Knopper was also recruited, whose unique artwork gave the story a whole new dimension. The band additionally wrote a 60-page booklet, which includes the full story of Willem Barentsz and his crew. More...

Jesus Chrüsler Supercar Posts New Music Video

Jesus Chrüsler Supercar parties hard today with a new music video for "Let It Roll." Check it out below. "Let It Roll" comes off latest album "35 Supersonic" and the band also comments:

"'Let It Roll' is a story about three guys sitting in a Chrysler, travelling quickly through the metropolitan desert. With Slayer on the stereo, their pockets full of sand and a full tank of gas they speed through the night with the horizon as their only goal.

"The song is also a parable of Jesus Chrüsler Supercar's way forward. We started out with no money, we knew it was a long way to go, but we believed in what we were doing. Although there’s been a lot of blood, sweat and tears, we just let it roll! The video is a simple, straight forward, high octane Rock n‘ Roll video in two different settings.

"Our aim was to make it feel nitty and gritty but at the same time have that childish joyous feeling, and we feel that we captured that. From us speeding through the night, to Chris crowd surfing while playing the guitar it’s all Death ’ n’ Roll with that side order of 'I’ll do what I want' style of fun. Hope you guys will Death ’ n’ Roll with us and have a great fucking time." More...

Throes Of Dawn Signs With Argonauta Records

Finland's Throes of Dawn just signed on with Argonauta Records. The band will issue sixth studio release "Our Voices Shall Remain" on August 20th via this new deal. Founded in 1994, Throes Of Dawn has made a long musical journey, from the early years in melodic dark metal to the progressive and atmospheric post-metal of today.

With the highly acclaimed previous album “The Great Fleet of Echoes” (2010), the band combined different musical elements to create lush, progressive soundscapes, reaching further away from their dark metal past.

After a few changes in the line-up, the band wanted to take things further and started to compose music with a new approach.

“We wanted to do things differently.” says Henri Koivula, one of the founding members of the band. “We wanted to follow intuition and see where the music takes us. We built these songs mostly together at the rehearsal place by doing a lot of experimentation and repetition. It was very exciting and rewarding to see how the songs evolved and formed.”

The new album, “Our Voices Shall Remain” consists of seven tracks, with a total running time of 67 minutes. The album is a clear highlight on their musical career, showing the band at it´s best. The songs are flowing, progressive and ethereal with long guitar leads, layered synths and clear production. More...
