Gruesome Posts New Music Video
Old-school death metal squad Gruesome just shared a savage new music video for the title track from forthcoming EP, "Dimensions Of Horror." Gruesome's Matt Harvey comments:
"For our first foray into the realm of video, we are very stoked to give you the title track of our new EP, Dimensions Of Horror.
"The video, much like everything we've done with Gruesome, harkens back to a simpler time, when you could reliably find a guy with a mustache kicking back on the hood of his Trans Am blasting 'Master Of Puppets' in the parking lot of your local 7-11. A time when mullets and latch-key kids roamed lands gripped with 'Satanic Panic,' and you could still buy acid at high school. Yes, the 1980s.
"Those were the days when Chuck Schuldiner's individual thought patterns turned toward mutilation and rituals involving zombies. We hope that this proudly 'B' video grips you with fear, or at least makes you nostalgic for the halcyon days of big white high-tops, bigger hair, and first generation of death metal. So come with us and enter the dimensions of horror." More...

"Arizona Dry Hate" Compilation Released
The latter part of the 1980’s and the early 90’s were thrash metal’s heyday: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax were already cemented in as the leaders of the pack and following them were legions of lesser known bands at the time.
Certain geographic locations, such as The Bay Area and New York City/New Jersey, were hot spots for thrash metal due to the quality and quantity of bands located in or around major population centers. Bands like Flotsam and Jetsam, Sacred Reich and Atrophy put Arizona on the map, but that’s where the line was drawn.
If you have ever seen a Saguaro Cactus, you know that when it blooms, there isn’t just a few flowers but a ton of blossoms popping up all over the body; the thrash scene in Arizona is a perfect analogy of the Saguaro. The amount of talent that was flourishing behind Flotz, Sacred (As the locals would affectionately refer to them) and Atrophy rivaled both the Bay Area and NYC/NJ scenes, but by that time, death metal and specifically the Swedish and Florida scenes had taken the reigns of heavy music and that would close the books for Phoenix’s legacy on heavy music for decades to come.
"Arizona Dry Hate" is a compilation to pay tribute to all the Arizona talent that didn’t “make it” on a larger stage. The compilation was created by digitally converting privately owned demo tapes and consists of almost three hours of raw, angry, thrash/death/grind and everything heavy in between music. It was recently released via YouTube and can be heard below. More...
Early White Zombie Track Comes Online
Numero Group's upcoming "White Zombie: It Came From N.Y.C." CD / vinyl boxset, the quintessential resurrection of White Zombie's eternally out-of-print early EPs and LPs, becomes available to the masses in less than four weeks.
In anticipation of the release, White Zombie bassist Sean Yseult sat down with the Wall Street Journal to reflect on the old days of the band and share some unheard music.
Check out this newly-unearthed track recorded in 1986, entitled "Scarecrow #2," in the player below. As stated by Wall Street Journal's Michael Calia, "'Scarecrow #2" rips along with a thundering, droning groove and wailing vocals, but its improvisational spirit distinguishes it from later, more slickly produced White Zombie tracks." Ayreon Issues "Theater Equation" DVD Trailer
Ayreon's "The Theater Equation" DVD/Blu-Ray package was recently announced for release on June 17th via InsideOut Music and you can now watch the full trailer for it in the player below
In September 2015, over the course of four sold-out shows, Ayreon's legendary progressive rock concept album 'The Human Equation' was brought to life as a full-blown musical production at the Nieuwe Luxor theater in Rotterdam.
This limited run of performances was witnessed by die-hard fans from across the world, but now Arjen Lucassen's story can be witnessed by all, as a recording of the final night of those special evenings is being released as both a DVD & Blu-Ray package on June 17th, 2016. 'The Theater Equation' is subtitled in nine different languages and includes nearly one-and-a-half hours of bonus content.
Arjen comments: "Even today as I write this, I am amazed and touched by how hard everyone worked and how much love and care they generously gave to make it all happen. Sometimes the dream becomes reality!"
The stage show stars Dream Theater frontman James Labrie in his original roll as "Me" and features nearly the entire cast of vocalists from the original 2004 album. The main cast is supported by a specially put-together 19-strong Epic Rock Choir. This is a unique document of an undertaking that was surely once in a lifetime. More...
