The Faceless Drops Off Tour, Duels With Promoter

After dropping off a major tour without warning last year, The Faceless has once again cancelled a live trek at the 11th hour, this time dropping off an Australian / New Zealand bill with The Black Dahlia Murder.

The promoter of the tour - Soundworks Touring - clearly wasn't happy with the situation, issuing this statement via Facebook:

"Due to complete incompetency by the band and their management, and with a total lack of respect for Soundworks Touring, and more importantly their fans, The Faceless have this morning officially cancelled their entire Australian and New Zealand tour. Over the past week we have been continuously lied to, misled and left in the dark as to the whereabouts of the band since their first scheduled appearance on May 9th.

"We at Soundworks Touring have done everything in our power to bring the band here for these shows, but The Faceless have been completely unprofessional in their behaviour and this cancellation is 100% solely their doing.

"To any disgruntled fans who wish to voice their opinion on this matter, we at Soundworks Touring are more than willing to put you in direct contact with the band and their management so they can address your questions. In the meantime feel free to express yourself on the bands official facebook page.

"We apologize to fans for the cancellation and wholeheartedly share your disappointment, but as mentioned previously, this has been 100% out of our control. The rest of the tour package will continue as is and we hope you still enjoy the amazing show The Black Dahlia Murder, Putrid Pile, Whoretopsy, and Unravel are displaying."

Needless to say, The Faceless doesn't agree with the above statement, and has since issued a rebuttal (which the fans don't seem to be buying - see a screencap from Facebook below). Michael Keene of The Faceless posted this message: More...

Anthriel Unveils New Album

Lion Music is proud to announce the June 15th release for Finnish prog metal act Anthriel's second album "Transcendence," arriving seven years after previous album "The Pathway." Guitarist Timo Niemistö explains the long wait time:

"To make a long story short, life happened to us with highs and lows. We started to record a new material soon after releasing 'The Pathway' but some time after we had to let go of our prolonged rehearsal studio. It was a huge setback for the band as a lot of Anthriel history was written within those walls. As a result of frustration the bands ways departed with Jari and Klaus.

"We were kind of drifting some time to find and build a new environment and fresh start to continue recording of 'Transcendence.' Henrikki Markkula is a long time friend of us and was a whole band choice number one as a new drummer. Finding a bass player took a while but gladly Mr.Horttana contacted us and turned out to be a multi-talented studio musician and a great personality as well.

"Since the debut album 'The Pathway,' the Anthriel family has seen couple marriages and some kids born. I'm busy of repairing house and building a home studio for our needs. The band is stronger than ever and we are really looking forward to prove our strength at live. More...

3teeth Posts "Away From Me" Video

Los Angeles’ thriving industrial band 3Teeth today premieres a video for brand-new single, “Away From Me.” The track is found on the band’s upcoming album, "shutdown.exe," which is due out on May 19th via OMF Records.

Alexis Mincolla (vocals) comments: “I believe we live in very regressive times despite our huge advances in technology and communication. We’re still territorially pissing like cavemen, and the tragedy of the commons has become an accepted way of life.

"The song is really about how strong willed minds can still stay autonomous and empowered even in the face of all this. I wanted the video to represent this from a human story rather than a political one as it’s becoming more and more apparent that geopolitics outweigh the human experience in terms of what is navigating our world.” More...

Circle Announces "Terminal" Album

Circle's latest album "Terminal," confirmed for release on June 23rd through Southern Lord, is pure hedonistic pleasure. Check out advance track "Kill City" below. Southern Lord also issued this statement:

"Never content on staying the same, Circle has created an idiosyncratic cocktail of sonic fusions, conjuring an impulsive, dizzying energy that stirs a spirit of curiosity within the listener, and possesses all who encounter the band.

"Whilst many would run out of creative steam after more than thirty albums, Circle continues to boldly explore sonic soundscapes, venturing curiously into terrains of Stooges-esque swagger, trance-inducing kraut rock mantras, beautiful electronic ambience, psychedelic rock noodling, arena storming AOR weirdness, '70s prog rock extravagance, glam pop pomp, and of course their core sound, heavy metal, not to mention other peculiar and daring sounds that simply cannot be pigeonholed."

Dawn Of Disease Reveals New Album

Since 2003, Dawn Of Disease has rumbled its way to the top as heavy weights of Germany's death metal scene. Now the band returns with brand new album "Ascension Gate," featuring a hurricane of blast beat drumming and the gigantic voice of Tomasz Wisniewski.

"Ascension Gate" is set to be released on August 11th, 2017 through Napalm Records and will be available in CD, LP gatefold, and digital download formats. Pre-orders will be available soon.

Says the band: "'Ascension Gate' was created and given birth within a comparatively short lapse of time. Thus it embodies pure energy and raw intensity. In comparison to our former releases our fourth full-length album is different in many ways as it modifies and expanses the musical elements we used to employ before.

"Besides the typical Dawn of Disease trademarks you will find more elaborate melodies that carry the listener through an atmospheric journey. Inspired by gloomy autumn days and the sheer endless darkness of winter 'Ascension Gate' adds more depth and catchiness to our sound than ever before without neglecting a huge portion of blastbeating brutality. Regardless of this dark and melancholic leitmotif we can promise you one thing: 'Ascension Gate' will bring you a very hot summer!" More...

Bobby Liebling Reportedly Arrested

Pentagram has issued a statement about heading out on tour without Bobby Liebling, which can be read below.

Although it wasn't mentioned in the statement, it appears Liebling was arrested last month for assault and "physical abuse of a vulnerable adult" according to court records.

The records site is currently crashing due to high traffic, but a screenshot can be seen below. Pentagram posted this message online about the situation:

"As was the case for the recently completed US shows, vocalist Bobby Liebling will not appear with Pentagram for previously booked European dates this summer.

"To elaborate, Bobby called on April 17 saying he had been admitted to the hospital. He called again on April 19, this time after being transferred to a Maryland detention facility. He's now awaiting a preliminary hearing at which time it will be determined if a follow-up on any alleged charges are necessary. An update will be published when information is available. The band will be fulfilling all currently booked appearances with 36-year mainstay guitarist Victor Griffin performing all vocals.

"A personal note from the band: the outpouring of support on our recent US dates was outstanding! Your energy was matched ten-fold and encouraged us to carry on and deliver what many have called, even by skeptics, some of the best Pentagram performances they've seen. Thank you!

"We have the best fans in the world and if not for you, the legacy of this band would have died long ago. We won't let you down now. The music lives on and as we move forward, we reiterate the lyrics of Curious Volume: 'In this venture death waits in the shadows, but in survival the volume won't die!'

"Sincerely, Victor, Greg, & Pete." More...

Earth Groans Releasing "Renovate"

Solid State Records has announced the signing of South Dakota quartet Earth Groans, with "Renovate" coming May 12th, 2017.

“We want to be a ministry first, and a band second,” says vocalist Jeremy Schaeffer. The debut EP "Renovate" consists of five songs of chaotic and dissonant metallic hardcore that's deeply introspective.

The genesis of Earth Groans was during a deeply tumultuous period in Schaeffer’s life. As he details “I was going through what a lot of young people go through as they grow up. A lot of things I thought I was enjoying just turned out to be empty. Things in my life both professionally and personally just weren’t fulfilling to me anymore. That’s what 'Renovate' is about, doing work on yourself and getting down to the bare foundation. For me that foundation is my faith.”

Rounded out by Brady Mueller (drums), Zachariah Mayfield (guitar) and Kaden Burton (bass), Earth Groans has toured relentlessly. More...

Fortis Amor Streaming "Particles"

Fortis Amor - the melodic progressive metal project entirely conceived and executed by guitarist / vocalist Ryan Duke - will release a new album on May 19th.

While the self-titled album's 10 tracks nearly convince the listener that they're hearing a full band, the project is entirely Ryan Duke's making, aside from select guest solos by Jack Daniels (War of Ages, Hope For The Dying) and Zack Uidl (ex-7 Horns 7 Eyes).

Today you can hear a new single off the album - check out "Particles" below. Duke comments: "I wrote 'Particles' a while ago on an acoustic guitar. It was originally in Drop D tuning, but I had a very hard time singing it, so that's when I decided to change the regular tuning I use to Drop B. This song is a three-part chronicle of a very difficult time in my life.

"I ended up coming out the other side as a much more confident person. It describes the deep anguish of feeling like everything you have has been broken into pieces and all your hopes and dreams have been smashed beneath a giant anvil. Then from that pain and loss, you find that it needed to happen so you could take all that was destroyed and make something much better out of it. It is really about the benefits of pain and loss. To never give up on life or yourself. It is the essence of hope." More...

Origin Reveals Details Of New Album

Vaunted U.S. titans of extreme death metal, Origin, have revealed details surrounding the forthcoming new album "Unparalleled Universe," which is set to be released on June 30th via Agonia Records (Europe/ROW) and Nuclear Blast Records (North America). Pre-orders for the album are available at this location. The first single "Accident And Error" will come in the form of a 360 degree lyric video which will be available in North America on Friday, May 12th at 10:00am.

For 20 years, Origin has engaged a full-blown sensory assault of tight, taut, and technical death metal amplified by flashes of grindcore and groove. However, 2017’s "Unparalleled Universe" sees the quartet - Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals), John Longstreth (drums), Mike Flores (bass, vocals), and Jason Keyser (vocals) - strengthen that blueprint with a handful of surprises.

"It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years" says Ryan. "To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically".

"Unparalleled Universe" was recorded and mixed at Chapman Studios in February 2017 alongside longtime collaborator and engineer Robert Rebeck (Tech N9ne). The band emerged with ten new songs including a cover of Brujeria's "Revolución", that were mastered in March 2017 by Colin Marston at Menegroth - The Thousand Caves (Altar of Plagues, Jarobe, Krallice) and wrapped in a cover prepared by Filip Ivanovic (Dismember, Cryptopsy, Heavy Montreal, Gorguts).

The track listing is as follows:

1. Infinitesimal to the Infinite
2. Accident and Error
3. Cascading Failures
4. Mithridatic
5. Truthslayer
6. Invariance Under Transformation
7. Dajjal
8. Burden of Prescience
